I just wanted to say thanks. You are truly a great person willing to teach is the most noble profession. Because not only are the trophies you won great but you have helped others win trophies and happiness as well and each piece of their win belongs to you walk tall be proud and keep up the great work
I know you don't really change your process too much, but I swear, everytime I watch one of your videos something new (other than the focus) pops out and I think to myself, I need to try that, or thats how that works! You do such a great job explaining, but since I am progressing, I assume I take away something different based on what I have been struggling to accomplish in my painting. Thank again!
This would be a fantastic technique for tyranids and other critters in a similar vein. The robes look very naturally mottled and weathered. Very nice video sir!
Aww Vincey, I loved this after wanting to see more Underworlds in the reveal stream. I get similar satisfaction out of a victory lap with Corvus Black for my rims.
Man, the orange really pops against that ivory and brown. Also: another joins the gang of basically only using Rhinox Hide from Citadel. There are dozens of us!
Hell yeah looks so dope! About to start a Clan Pestilens warband for Mordheim and will certainly be using these techniques. Thank you for sharing and for your efforts in making this video.
Oh boy, oh boy. I'm looking forward to that rat pack arriving. I should really learn to play underworlds, since all the new skaven is coming out for that that game. Great tutorial- I'm thinking lime green and or livid pink for my plague monks and going with ivory for the Eshin rats. Thanks Vince for the inspiration!
It's nice to see a grimy look without the use of enamels or oils. I love those products but sometimes my patience just isn't there. Great video. Also, it was great to meet you at gencon. Congratulations on your placements!
Being a fellow Skaven afficionado, I was so excited to see some new Skaven models come out - I preordered two boxes through my LGS so I can make a Pestilens-themed Warcry warband with these. Great paint job in the video! I'll have to try out your skin formula as I haven't quite found one I love for my rats yet. I have the Pro Acryl Red Beige and Vallejo Cork, so I'll just have to find a substitute for the Pro Acryl Dark Ivory as nobody locally carries it (yet).
@@VinceVenturella I have a few from each of your sets - love the Biege Red and Dark Jade. I gotta ask, is that your real signature on the top of the box?
Thanks for all your time and effort. You have really been an inspiration for me. I am mediocre at best however, you keep it fun and are always very good at explaining each thing you do
This was soooooo much fun watching you have fun!!! I can tell how relaxed you were!! There was fantastic instruction!! I think this was a simple grimdark that any beginner to intermediate painter can use. I like that you didn’t use oils on this for that reason. Many are intimidated or just don’t have them. Great job my friend and thanks!! (Horns always suck!)😂
Vince! I just wanted to thank you so much for your channel! It has really helped me become a better painter very quickly! I love your videos. Quick question if I may... What line of paint would you recommend in 2023 for someone that has some old GW paints, some new GW contrast paints, and a decent amount of Vallejo paints? What line of paint would best compliment these? I paint mostly kingdom death monster models so lots of grim dark! Thank you much!
I’ve decided to go with AK interactive just because I feel like they have a little bit of a better range. Recently, Ninjon went over his favorite colors in the AK line. Do you have a video where you talk about yours? Thanks so much!
Howdy! First up thank you for what you do, as a newbie painter with no art background your channel taught me.. Well, everything I needed to start and to keep going. I was going through previous hobby cheatings to do with white and this one too, but I would love some help with white NMM armor. When I attempt it always ends up either looking grey with white highlights, or washed out if I increase total amount of white. Maybe theres an older vid in the series about it Ive missed?
Armor is tough, I will have more videos soon, but these are good places to explain the concept: NMM Wings (this explains many things about NMM) - ua-cam.com/video/MnGXHChVdyE/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB NMM Steel Armor (this is an old video, but explains the concepts): ua-cam.com/video/V-UJLegD1_4/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB
Hey, Vince. I know you hate having to "paint air" but as smoke seems to be an increasingly common model element, any chance of you doing a tutorial on it? Seems like it would be very useful.
Hey Vince, just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work. I'm very new to the hobby and your backlog is basically a masterclass for me. When will you have more coaching slots on your Patreon?
As much as possible! Seriously though, they make great replacements for your normal highlight colors, that is the simple answer, don't go to white, go to pastel.
Has Vince ever used Dirty Down rust in one of these? as a certified Skaven Enjoyer it seems up his alley but i've heard in the states its a murder to find and its often super expensive but works so well for nurgle style weapons.
Hey Vince, do you know of any hobby shops in the central Ohio area that sell individual Reaper paints off of a display rack? All I can ever seem to find are their learn to paint kits and a few of the expansions
I have seen a lot of people get into ak paints lately. will I be fine with my scalecolour / pro acryl armada with the occasional gw layers and contrasts, or are ak must-haves? oh and is that Raphael brushes i spot
No issue with those paints at all, it's more about personal taste and the way you work with your paints. :) - Yes, my normal brushes are either Raph 8404 or Winsor and Newton Series 7.
@@VinceVenturella Ah, excellent brushes. Yeah, I love these paints although scale can be tricky to work with because of the gel medium. But the matte finish is just amazing, when you paint stuff like leather! I was just wondering about ak, since a lot of tubers have gone that route lately.
Off topic, but do you have any advice for eclectic paint schemes? I want each of my units to have their own scheme for narrative reasons, but want my army to look good together on the table.
Sure, pick one element and keep it the same throughout (a piece of equipment, cloaks, a helm, w/e) and then you can vary the rest but they will still feel as though they belong together.
Now I want to go through the pain of making white cloth (it's not as easy as you always make it look!!) just to make it muddy. Sure, I could do a different color, but this just looks fantastic. He looks like he was BORN to be muddy.
Man I can’t wait till skaven get a whole range refresh. Good stuff Vince
The teaser is out on the official warhammer youtube, its happening :)
it is happening!!!!!!!!@@TheJordanMB
@@ringodeathstarr9795 It happened!!!!!!!!!
James Cagney were he still alive and was into Warhammer would certainly paint Skaven.

Your general paint usage right now is giving me the vibes that AK paints are replacing Vallejo for a ton of folks.

Awesome grungy look. The warm undertones impact on the layers is awesome.

That would be cool!
That sweet, sweet black base rim slo-mo. Love it. ❤
Awesome blending in such a small model! It really looks like colors you'd get blending on canvas
And now I really need to redo the scheme I started as a test on my Skaven. This is a fantastic video as always.

Love the trick with washing the pigment powder on the base. Thanks!!!
Happy to help!
I have no rats to paint, but that was fun! I like that pigment trick, especially on the base!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great guide! This inspired me to paint some dirty little ratmans of my own.
Great to hear!

Love the grimy robes! Definitely a great scheme for skaven.

What great timing! I was just trying to work out a way to paint some plague marines in this kind of weathered style.

Looks awesome, really great tutorial as always, Vince! Definitely intimidating to work with plain pigment like that but would love to give it a try

Personally I like this more than oil washes. It looks 'well' cleaner 😅

so basically you are not fixing the pigment? Just with paint on next step?
Correct
