Actually, Sweet Transvestite comes before The Time Warp in the original play. In 1990, O'Brien re-wrote the show. From then, Sweet Transvestite comes after The Time Warp. The show has not been the same since that moment.
I believe that is what was said. Yes, O'Brien re-wrote the show in 1990 but the two songs were swapped for the film in 1975 if not the official play script. Many of the live productions between the release ('75) of the movie and O'Brien's official re-write ('90) were staging their shows to match the film. Even dropping Once In A While which continues at theatres to this day... much to my disappointment when I catch such a performance.
