I wrote a magazine article at the time pointing out the same basic chassis is the same as the Harrier/Rotel/York 861/863/849 models that cost far less The Harrier CBHQ was £150, the York 869 was £190. This was £369. The question I posed in the article was this "is this set worth the extra £169 for the super-swish case & very expensive solid aluminium knobs". The answer in my opinion is 'yes'. These is no way you could get that front panel produced for less than £100. Richard, G0OJF, UK
That major sort out was well worth it,cracking looking radio and great rx and tx at Scratchy Corner....that sounded really great on the other base station Midland too....... brilliant 👍👍
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 to richard you are most welcome please can you tell me when is the next video on radios please 🙏 from paul chapman at east sheen
A good all round Scratchy corner test sounded good at all the key points, also I'm convinced that jogger at five mile point is a secret viewer and likes to appear in the videos seen him several times now at that part of the test.
The same type, but not the same actual radio. The one I use in every 'on the air' test had been messed with to death when I bought it. Richard, G0OJF, UK
Beautiful looking radio sounds great 👍
Amazing that the design of these came out in around 1978 (in it's non UK version 78-999 of course) but it still looks so modern.
