If you ask anyone in Portugal a national team that are famous in rugby 99% will answer wales! We even have an expression when playing football and someone shoots way over the bar, “3 points to Wales!”. So you can imagine how proud we are to play against and made it hard for Wales to win! 😊
Seen it in the stadium yesterday, and it was a tense match with amazing energy. While Wales played well, Portugal really put some pressure on them. Had some portugese fans next to me, screaming at the top of their lungs :D The last minutes, when Wales went for the bonus point were nerve wrecking. Score was much closer than I hoped for :D
We need a bowl and plate competition in this tournament for those who miss the pool rounds. Can you imagine some of the cracking test matches we would get in places like Pau, Clermont, La Rochelle???
What a game. Martins for Portugal was my Man of the Match, he made 19 tackles, scored their try and offloaded like a genius. Great work ethic from the whole team too. Nuno Sousa Guedes was electric at fullback

If you don't do this then your landing very uncomfortably and possibly injuring yourself. Just look at where his upper body is relative to the leg he is going to land on, the only way to counteract that is to rapidly move weight the other way and his leg is the only weight available. It's still unfortunate and dangerous, but it's not blatant foul play, it's just physics.

There was action in this game more worthy of highlights than the yellow and red cards. If it is World Rugby's goal to sell the sport we love so much, why not show some of the breaks and running rugby this game had to offer?
When you think Portugal initially didn't even qualify for the WC. Only because Spain fielded an ineligible player Portugal got into the repechage. Tier 2 countries are on the rise. Spain U20 qualified for the U20 WC by beating Uruguay in the U20 Trophy. Scotland didn't even make it to the final. Spain qualified for the trophy by narrowly beating the Dutch in the Euro final. The Dutch narrowly beating the Portuguese. At U20 level, a lot of these nations are competitive and it's only a matter of time before they become competitive at senior level too.
The lack of regular matches against T1 teams is keeping T2 teams improving. Rugby should take that lesson from other sports and create an environment where those games happen more frequently so these talented countries can grown.

As a Welsh fan I unashamedly, unpatronisingly love how some of the ‘smaller nations’ are playing in this World Cup so far. Portugal, Uruguay, Chile have been class: organised and committed in defence and really dynamic and entertaining in attack, not just keeping the ball and avoid making mistakes but actively trying things - and playing better as result. The Portugal lineout move that scored against us will be copied by a few established teams for sure. Love that this is making the game more global, the World Cup more competitive, and these teams’ fans are great as well.

As a Welshman I've coached rugby in Portugal and it's immensely satisfying to see teams like Portugal stepping up with a great mix of innovation, free-flowing style, and dynamic and imaginative play to compensate for whatever they lack in some of the more technical areas where physical strength and fitness afforded by professionalism give the more established countries an advantage. An advantage but not always rugby that's as nice and as thrilling to watch. Well done Wales but massive congratulations to Portugal here. And huge congratulations to the Portuguese in on their performance, attitude and ambition. Massive respect to everybody in Portugal. These are the games that make the World Cup worth watching.

Why are so many teams playing out of their National colours. The Welsh strip looks like a club rugby training strip, and Portugal looks like a soccer strip. Another refereeing masterclass. From the 38th minute forward Dickson did his best to get Wales their bonus point. I'll quote the Portuguese captain "which number was offside". He could have asked this half a dozen times and Dickson still wouldn't know the answer, because noone was offside. Even threatened yellow cards, even though no one had been offside. Would love to see him referee France.

They use the bunker to speed the game up. That way no rash red cards are given. I think you have to punch someone in plain view for a straight red.

Por várias vezes o Vincent mostrou que não sabe controlar as pernas no ar dando saltinhos de bailarina, deixou o pé no ar tocou na cara do adversário - vermelho, tal como todos os árbitros teem feito em situações que até á uns anos podiam nem ser falta, olha o vermelho para os allblacks de ontem. Quanto a outras decisões, concordo que não foi das melhores arbitragens, mas temos de lembrar que não é futebol, é um desporto á séria! É só a minha opinião...orgulho nos homens na mesma! LOBOS!

Another refereeing masterclass. From the 38th minute forward Dickson did his best to get Wales their bonus point. I'll quote the Portuguese captain "which number was offside". He could have asked this half a dozen times and Dickson still wouldn't know the answer, because noone was offside. Even threatened yellow cards, even though no one had been offside. Would love to see him referee France.
