555. Love it. It's precisely what I escape from: I've never lived in a tourist area and never will. I occasionally visit, but I've usually had enough after 1-2 days. Great video, mate.
From time to time I have to visit Hua Hin to go to the dentist. I can barely last twenty four hours and most of that time is spent in my hotel room. These places that promote mass tourism in my opinion are culture killers and attract the worst types of foreigners. In reality a very small percentage of the Thais benefit from tourism. Nothing more than a freak show and I am embarrassed to be around the behavior I witness this includes not only the common tourists but also the expats. Having said that I am glad some of these places exist as I believe it some what contains the cancer from spreading into other areas. But it seems the Thai government now wishes to attract more than eighty million foreigners a year here. That in itself will destroy what remains of the Thai culture and cause irreversible damage to the environment. I created this channel not to promote these places I visit but to show those that truly respect a countries culture a side a Southeast Asia few if any will ever experience. $$$ will never replace a culture nor the damage caused by mass tourism.
Mass tourism is like a cancer in many countries. It destroys cultures and has irreversible consequences not only to a society but to the environment. Thankfully most follow each other like sheep and do not wander far from the Pad Thai/Banana Pancake highway. What has always concerned me are the foreigners these tourist slums attract. There is so much more that Thailand and its people have to offer than the tourist/expat slums do.
It destroys not only the environment but cultures. If you want to experience a country the first thing you need to do is be willing to avoid other foreigners and stop supporting the tourist slums.

You're right, let's step away from mass tourism.

good to see a fresh initiative regarding travel in the region. kudos :)
Just another example of what is possible by thinking for yourself and not following the heads.
Off lately I have been busy traveling to Trang as my company has a shipyard at Kantang.
Nice town with very little tourists
Was only there once years ago but need to check Trang out again.
