Deftones are just one of those bands who do everything well. they do heavy, they do breathy and ethereal, they do melodic and brooding, the list just goes on & on. They are flat out amazing and we all love them!
They are truly special and willing to experiment which gives them longevity.
It's funny you say "breathy". What does that have to do with it? Let's just say he's a good singer. I am breathy when I talk sexy to somebody, but that's not a thing. It's a moment.

Agreed, very underrated and overlooked! I think it's one of their most diverse, creative and visceral album's ever.
You know I have been down since day one, and of course White Pony has been my all time fav. You couldn't move me off that not one bit until this album came around. I am still blown away by this album. And its moved into my top spot as I get older for the variety and amazing sounds.

I have to agree Johnny, Yokan is atmospheric masterpiece, brimming full of emotion, Chi’s absence is clearly felt in Chino’s songwriting - & it’s my favourite Deftones album.

There are some vide that play it ike 400x slower. Really long but makes the song sound kinda creepy/cool

I'm pretty sure this is a dedicated to an unborn child. "Shapes and colors are all I see." When you're a baby, you only see shapes and limited colors. "Placed inside safe and sound." This is how a good parent takes care of their child.

Yup usually is, and also ironic enough.. ask and the majority of musicians will tell you it’s the hardest stuff to write also. To find the right magical formula of a great song and perform it flawlessly is difficult enough, but to write something simple, beautiful, catchy, melodic, groovy and connects with people all over the world, all walks of life, is an insane skill and achievement

This song is one of my top 5 deftones songs. It blows me the fuck away every time I listen to it, as does all of their material. But this one has a very special place in my heart.
Deftones are one of the bands that I wish I could listen to eternally. Parting ways with this music one day makes me very sad. I’ll do my best to carry it to the other side.
You couldn't have said it any better, Deftones is something else and it's fucking beautiful. It's like an internal soundtrack, it matches every emotion, every event, every feeling- it's otherwordly and it's just, wow....so glad I found them. They will always hold a place in me forever.
I keep saying I want bluetooth speakers in my coffin to play Deftones, Crosses, Palms mixes using a solar rechargeable battery to play for as long as the sun shines.

I unfortunately have a similar experience with this having been offered a free ticket to their show ( when it got postponed for the first time), and then of course a month later she ripped me apart taking my ticket for the show with her. Deftones and Gojira are some of my favorite all time bands and I would not be able to miss that for anything, so I was able to get tickets for myself regardless of her. It hurts like an absolute bitch when it initially happened, but with these bands, there was a will, and I made a way. Going for anything with an ex, move on and leave it behind, nothing ever good comes from holding on. Keep going guys, we can all do it, with or without them.

My ex wife got the white pony tattooed on her back because I have adrenaline on my shoulders but I just like white pony still. Trust me women are everywhere when we got divorced I thought I never meet anyone again but I did a lot of women actually and I'm not that good looking. The memories I made to this song...
a year ago i was at a school kickback at night and me and my friends left to go walk around, we stopped by a nearby lake and this song was playing, it was a windy night with a bright full moon. that night was really great and the song made it even better.
This song was the one thing that helped me get through after betrayal of my girlfriend. I listened this song for almost a month and every time I was hearing these wonderful sounds my soul and heart were on cloud nine while my mind was getting rid of terrible thoughts. i get the feeling Stephen spends a lot of time sat with his guitar finding those notes and sounds that relax him and resonate with him. the music "appears" to be a lot simpler than I imagined it to be but that doesn't take away anything. so much music is overplayed, over technical or over produced. Deftones sounds honest...thoughtful...simple and applied to the moods they feel more often than not. I should think it's pretty cosy sitting with Stephen and Chino talking about life and the world...the lack of ego in everything that they do is evident these guys think very deeply!! much love to you all x

Been a DieHard fan since 1998 and I will never ever listen to a band with such variation in style and how they play. From my favorite song" head up" a heavy song that just gets u going. To this song entombed how was it possible that this band could bring us such a different scope of music over album after album. I will forever be a die-hard fan of this band and pray they never get too old. To play music anymore.

This bands music and Chino's Melodic overtones makes my soul tingle and and change bring me out of a funk immediately! I'm a musician and I definitely have similar musical souls as these guys . First time I shook Stephen's hand was before he opened up for Korn at the limelight NYC in like 1995 or so , I had no idea who he was until after when he got on stage. Chino had dirty blonde dreads back than , they gave me A black cassette ep , with Bored , lifter , and 7 words on it from adrenaline. I actually handed Stephen a joint and he puffed, but Chino's said no thanks 😊
