I'm familiar with some of the Pageau brother's work (some youtube vids and m. Pageau's book), but I'm not familiar with what a holding pattern is? Is it waiting for smth.. withdrawing until the time for transformation? Thanks for this great movie analysis!
Hi there, if you look for a video titled “Mattieu Pageau: The Language of Renewal” it’s addressed in a conversation he had about a month ago. Takes awhile before he really gets into it in that video.
@@Neal_Daedalus Hello again - so I watched a good chunk of the Pageau video I don't mean take up your time, do feel free to ignore this msg otherwise, but I'm just curious - I'm wondering if all art is a holding pattern? I always felt like good art in appropriate quantities, whether books, music, paintings, culinary food, put me in a dream like state and when it ended i felt a bit renewed or transformed art as a holding pattern also pairs well with Oscar Wildes quote "all art is useless", useless in the utilitarian sense
@@SofaWrld yes! I think your insight is spot on. I think all true art is ‘dangerous’, in that it has the capability of affecting us. We have the capability of being changed. I’m thinking more of dreams from your statement- that simply dreaming has the ability to affect how and what we think, both consciously and unconsciously. I see dreams as the most natural form of art, because they are undeniably outside of ourself (we cannot control them) and yet seemingly affect ourselves.
@@Neal_Daedalus oh excellent, this makes me feel more confident in my understanding of what a holding pattern is, since it was so central to the movie analysis all those things you said sound right to me :). I'm just wondering if nature as well is the most natural form of art, perhaps more at the conscious level
