Thanks for the video, I just bought a boat with an 1996 Evinrude 115hp ( same as Johnson - same company ) and I see the shift rod underneath , but the top bolt is buried way in there and I can’t see it. Thanks for the tips- Others have said to put it in reverse , but your advice is to disconnect the shift linkage and put it all the way forward.
Do you still have that 115 Johnson outboard. I need a favor . Can you take pic of the carbs and fuel lines. And the wires around the motor. And the fuel pump to. I just got a 115 johnson outboard motor but its all apart.

I got a 115 hp 1984 evinrude finely got it started and it was making a popping sound like a back fire is it the carburetor or timing I don’t know
