I would run Schwalbe Thunder Burt in 2.1" if I could fit them. My Lynskey GR250 is 7 years old now and 45 mm clearance was considered massive at the time
I have put Schwalbe 2.1 Rocket Ron on a set of gravel wheels for my Giant Revolt. Works for me. As I run Gravel King X1 45 mm as standard I couldn't see the point of only going to 50 mm. Just don't mess about go max. Also the reason I bought a Revolt to get this option if required. Also looks really cool,
Interesting review. Was thinking about these when I changed from my 40mm Nanos. I went to 45mm Hutchinson Tundras as they have side knobbles (old MTB habit I guess). They’re decent but I’ll go back to Nanos at some point.
Just fitted a pair of Pirelli Cinturato 45mm tan walls to my gravel bike (courtesy of Santa Claus 😉) and they’re as fast as hell with pretty good side edges. They were a doddle to fit tubeless too. Over all much better than the 35mm WTB Nano’s they replaced.
I'm riding the same same tyres at the moment , in about gthe same conditions ( wet Netherlands ) . This tyre feels a bit sluggish to me on Tarmac. Still playing around with tyre pressure. They feel confident to me though. I guess they would work wel in the South Downs.
Have you ran a 50mm up front and a 45mm rear with any success for muddy & tarmac mix? ( or 45 /40) Im looking for bit security at front, happy for loose at rear to help speed
@ if I had to pick one I’d say a skinny Schwalbe Racing Ralph but to be honest I’d just be guessing. However after being pretty disappointed with all the 50mm I’ve tried (Conti Trail Speed, Schwalbe Overland, Resolute, Vulpine) I’m going to double down on testing a bunch of others to try and find something I can truly recommend.
Oh dear! I ran Resolutes on one of my first gravel bikes a few years ago. They were a 40mm skinwall when 50 or even 45mm wasn't very popular! I thought they were alright for the time! If you wanna try something scary try the Panaracer Gravel king XLG. Their allrounder and mud tyre! Bloody scary on anything remotely muddy and had me off on one event! ( It was a proper swamp though and should have took a MTB!) Surprisingly good on loose and dry woodland in the summer though! Go figure? 😂

Hey Guy, loving these tyre reviews - would be great to kick off the video just with a quick close up of the tread for context :)
@@samt73 yes sorry, I normally do them in the workshop but I’ll start adding stills to the videos too

@@PT456C just been riding the Tundra and the side knobs are great. The basically flat centre lets them down as an all weather tire though I reckon.

@@coonepaul very hard to fault the Pirelli gravel tyres, need to get my reviews up to date!
50mm tyres? Every time I see a video on an improvement on gravel bikes, they seem to be getting nearer and nearer to XC MTBs
Agreed they are just becoming early 90s rigid mtbs with drop bars, 700c wheels and disk brakes
I recon that's because they are better!
@richardwatson2348 better for what ?

Thundero rear. Swampero front.
How do you compare them with Goodyear Connector?
@@MrFrescocotone Connector is a better all round tyre for on / off road and the Peak is better for dirtier / wetter conditions
@GuyKesTV what's your favourite 50 or 2.1 tired according to you for all round use?

@ they’re better as a 40 as the knobs are proportionally bigger.
700gm. Oof! Thats 2.4" mtb racing tyre weights😮
