I’m literally here because I saw this guy in Our Flag Means Death and knew I knew him from somewhere and then realized it was Chernobyl. And I was all “What’s with this guy’s voice?” Then I found out all about his music theatre career and now I’m curious to know if that’s why his speaking voice is so raspy. Maybe VCD? I’m actually genuinely curious to know. Either way, this dude steals every scene he’s in.
he was like 23 in blood brothers and if you watch that, his voice is pretty much the same! although it’s gotten slightly rougher as he’s gotten older. i think he was just born with it which is pretty cool.
If you haven't already, Google Con singing and check out the video he recorded when we were all locked down because of That Thing...he sang this as he played the piano (because, y'know, it's just not enough that he's a fine actor, sings beautifully, and is still rather attractive). His voice isn't always quite as high as it is here but he's still a dream to listen to. I wish he'd let us hear his singing voice more.
Con played Mickey the first time I saw Blood Brothers and then saw him in this Wily Russell play. Great actor and fab voice. Wily Russell also needs praise for writing great songs
