  • The Steelers went 9-5 in 1977 winning their division and facing Denver in the playoffs. I have some broadcast footage and NFL Films stuff.
I could have included a bit more broadcast footage from one other game but there was less highlights in that game in the 2nd half for Pittsburgh most of it was defensive plays and they lost that game so I decided to just have the highlights for that game. Still have some broadcast stuff for all the other games available including the full Cowb0oys game and partials for several others including the playoff game.

They would smoke Dallas for the 2nd time in 3 seasons while winning 5 straight & 6 of 7.Chuck Noll was 6-3 against Tom Landry. From 1972-79 Chuck Noll in the playoffs was 14-4.He went back-to-back super bowls.Thats accomplishment that Tom Landry never pulled off.

Losing at Denver was worse than losing against Oakland the year before.

From my observationmy fellow Steelers loyal fan ,the Oakland Raiders playoff loss inthe 76 conference championship was worst ,they were the undisputed #1 arch enemy of the Steelers, ahead of even the Cowboys and 77'79 Oilers ,a Raiders team who the Steelers had to encounter in post season 5 consecutive yrs ,3 conference championship games .The Noll , and Raiders Atkinson court battle ,also being a huge part of the Steelers,Raiders legendary wars ,the ,76 Raiders derailing Pittsburgh's attempt at becoming first franchise to win 3 consecutive sb's ,make the 76 playoff loss to Dah hated Raiders more painful ,it gave Dah Raiders their only conference championship victory in the 70',s decade ,and essentially gift wrapped the Raiders a Lombardi trophy since their sb 11 oponent were the sb punching bag vikings . even 48 yrs later the on field ,off field context which layered perhaps arguably the greatest fued in NFL history makes that 76 Raiders loss more painful ,no Franco and Bleier ,presence in that game because of injuries ,having to depend upon the raiders desperate assistance in defeating the bungles in order to make post season that year ,the psychological trauma the Steelers experienced in blowing a double digits lead and losing in Oakland week one ,a game the Raiders literally considered in week one their most important reg season game . The Broncos first rd loss in 1977 while painful ,came at a time in which many fans ,pundits considered the Steelers having maximized it's talent and were on the verge of falling from the pinnacle of the elite
