At the inquest into the sad death of the four boys in the Fiesta the went off the road and drowned in North Wales, not too far from you, it was reported the the rear tyres were only inflated to half the psi needed when four up. This may have been only about 15 psi. This caused effects similar to what happened to Bella and Bob. Stay safe everyone and check your tyre pressures regularly.
I've had a moment when one of the rear wheels of my Twingo had a slow steady leak. When cornering, i could feel that one outside wheel doing something weird. Either breaking traction or trying to roll over. Tyre pressure is very important. I almost exclusively ride motorcycles now - but on those, even just 0,3 bar below the standard pressure (2,5 bar, give or take) is already very noticeable so i don't really get caught out by a dangerously low pressure on them.
Bella must be the most valuable car in the fleet now with the amount of repairs and parts you’ve invested in her. She’ll be a new car eventually like Trigger’s broom!
I fit Klarius Exhausts at work, never have a problem with them. Depending on issue at work we either fit Ford block rubbers (ESM54) or Fiat Punto mk1/2 back box rubbers (ESM230). As for the tyres someone somewhere has fitted Bella with Berlingo Van size tyres. You can get Falken A/S tyres in that size. You Could also do with either (Extra Load) XL Spec or even 175/65R14C Van Spec Tyres as you use Bella for Towing - Added Stability.
For me, things going "Hub Nut" is what makes your channel stand out from all the other car channels.. Like me, despite all ya best efforts things tend to go a bit sideways.. I've been there, and bought tyres on line to, only to find out they were the wrong diameter LOL 👍👌
When ever I replace an exhaust or part of an exhuast on an old car I always get the fitting kit or the relevant clamps/nuts/bolts/hangers as these invariably are worn out and/or shear off when removed.
I have those Falkens on my everyday car, they are superb. Done over 15k miles on them so far athereses's less understeer than my previous ditchfinder winter tyres.
Klarius are what used to be the old budget brand TIMAX - made near Stoke On Trent in a little town called Cheadle. They are not the greatest quality, but reflected in a pretty reasonable price, so even if it only lasts 3 - 5 years it's good enough for the old Berlingo. Tyre date codes do go WWYY, so yes, even though its cracked and perished its still made in 2021. I guess its a cheap Chinese brand and you get what you pay for.
I have those tyres on my Berlingo - there's a video of me finding their limits in the snow on my channel in case you're interested 😀 I also have a semi-diy car camping setup that takes about half an hour to install if you want any tips from my experiences of trying different things. 👍
At least the hangers on the chassis for the exhaust didn't fall off, like they did on my Yaris... good luck also to you and Kitch for a very worthwhile cause over the weekend.
regarding the exhaust: 'adapt and overcome' as the old saying goes. often what is to had can be the best fix even if its not perfect. I have a drawer full of various sealants and mastics so would have fitted it and then plugged the gap with one of them. Falken is an excellent choice of tyre. back in the mid 90s I had a set of Falken Gs' on my Scirocco GTX and they were very grippy predictable and neutral at the limit.
Many years ago i made a pair of scaffolding board ramps for jobs like this drive on or reverse on and even just being three stepped planks high enough clearance for jobs like this and safe and when finished they stack together snuggly as on thick plank for storage and the longest plank aids safe run up than those awful metal ramps and no jacking required
A good tip that my son showed me when I was having issues with the rubber hangers is once it is fitted to the vehicle put a plastic pull tag around the outside of the clamp to hold it together. It will still work the way it should but the weight won't pull through the holes in the rubber mount
I had a classic Beetle many years ago and whatever tyres I fitted to the rear, it would terrifyingly oversteer, especially on roundabouts. I never crashed the thing, but the cure was to fit oversized tyres slightly under pressure.
Believe they have very low front tyre pressures to try and encourage understeer rather than oversteer, but hanging the engine out the back was always going to be problematic.
When it came time to change the tyres on my car, I researched for a bit and in the end went "Man, I just want some Falken tyres". AZ450, I think. They were good, though perhaps not the best in terms of wear.
It's never a quick job on a berlingo, i saved myself the pennies and headaches, cut the flange off the end of the centre section and sleeved a length of stainless pipe over it, clamped it and made a fence wire hanger for the tailpipe, it ran like that for 4 years, only 1 advisory once the remaining exhaust rubbers broke and were replaced with wire👌👌🤣
Ian you know that the Bella on the rolling road results are now null and void with the wrong tyres size on. A recheck is needed with the correct size, its got to at least 20bhp more ! LOL
Need a dictionary entry. ‘To go Hubnut’ To not go as planned, to encounter difficulties that ultimately prevent the completion of intended task (but result in amusing video content) Please never change!
I still remember applying liberal amounts of Holts GumGum paste to my very 1st MkIII Ford Cortina, the exhaust blew harder than an incontinent pensioner full of baked beans. Fitted side pipes to my Cortina back then that fell off over my very first hump back bridge. 😂
Klarius are a good quality british made product (I work on the same industrial estate as their huge factory in Staffordshire). They used to be called T.I.Manitube and made alot of the uk car industry's exhausts.
Understand your aversion to Michelin Energy but in their defence the modern ones are a world apart from their first version - I think. However, I support the all season tyres - we have them now (Goodyear 4 seasons) and hugely better in cold weather, not just on ice and snow.
Exhaust hangers, soak in boiling water for a few mins then push on with WD40 or similar. Falken tyres I've had several sets over the years and always found them to be good value for my cars.
Yup its WWYY format for DOT codes. See plenty of cheap ditchfinder death rings coming through that age this badly (some premium stuff doesn't age well either to be fair), reckon they're made of melted down lego or plastic bottles 😋
Had a Klarius exhaust on a Mondeo I got rid of recently. There was a trail of rust along the entire length of the pipe within a couple of years and I must have patched it up at least 3 or 4 times with putty and bandages
Nice to see new rubber, even if it's the wrong size. At least the back box went on fairly easily apart from another rubber size issue. New calendar out soon?
I've bought an incorrect tyre before for my 206. I'd gone onto BlackCircles, entered my registration, and been offered measurements for 165/70 13 and 175/65 14 width. I assumed it was 175 so I ordered an H (82)... however, the car took 185s. Slight embarrassment and a tenner later to send the incorrect tyre back, and I got a 185/65 R14 H (86) two days later. It was a Falken Ziex ZE-912, quite topical. As an aside, this was a replacement for one I'd gotten, as a pair, two months prior and managed to get a bulge in the sidewall, so I really should've known that I was ordering the wrong size. I never trust a tyre website to return the correct measurements anymore as a result, though I do occasionally enter my registration just because I'm curious as to how much "out" the suggestions are. I actually tried searching on that vehicle again a moment ago and got the same measurements listed above.
What's the first thing you do to your Belingo camper van conversion sort out the window coverings and l approve of the windscreen and front door windows covering excellent
My berlingo car is 175/70R14 (84) but my van version 800kg had 175/65R14 van tyres, i ended up just putting XL car tyres on (86) as they were cheaper, i never carried any weight
HubNut-misses and shenanigans as usual, Ian. But, rest assured, in all honesty, we wouldn't really want it any other way ... Congrats with the 120K, by the way: membership does seem to be going at a fair lick! The snowball effect kicking in ...? And what do I hear at 12:14? Helping with the production side of things? Does that include audio, Ian, because ... well, just saying ...
If you remember the classic Range Rover that was in the first social, When I purchased that car there was a zip tie holding up the centre box and let the zip tie is still holding up the centre box today
In 2005 I planned a 4 month European road trip and bought a Peugeot Partner, a badge engineered Bella. Non turbo diesel so not quick. Apart from price etc the key was that I could use it as a camper if needed, with room to sleep comfortably. With my worldly goods on board it was snug but an excellent solution. Good memories.
Things don't always go Hubnut. If I was changing that exhaust, the clamp nuts would break off, the old muffler pipe would have "grown" onto the tailpipe necessitating a hacksaw job. Then fitting up the new pipe it would not slide over or over the old pipe. Did I mention skinning my knuckles and cutting my hand and grit in my eye with WD40 in my mouth and eye, casing me to bank my head on the back axle or diff. PS I have to use crayons coz I;m not allowed near a sharp pencil.
I think that 2021 tyre looking that worn is normal, tyres don't seem to last that long thesedays. Excellent choice of tyre Ian very pleased you bought Falkens. You will see a massive diffence in grip.
It wouldn't be HubNut without something going tits up!
LOL nothing changes, in fact things get worse!! This channel is like therapy for making you feel better for my own skills!!
Nice MacGyver trick adding thickness to the muffler hanger using tape :)
Best of luck with everything ahead on the channel & thanks for the videos 👍👍👍
Thank you for your continuing hard work, and great content! Here’s hoping you’re feeling better, for the weekend Ian. Take care.
Lots of great Hubnuttery on this video, and we love it! "Finesse!"

I'm a big fan of all season tyres. I put Michelin Cross Climate 2's on last October. They have been superb and wear is incredibly low.
I did squeak as soon as I saw the tyre size on the label - because I'd googled it after you last mishap! 🤣
6:32 I love the support from your loving partner! 😂
Those rubbers would easily push on with lubricant.😊
Fairy Liquid. Works for me :)
At least the hangers on the chassis for the exhaust didn't fall off, like they did on my Yaris... good luck also to you and Kitch for a very worthwhile cause over the weekend.
another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍

Stating the obvious but you could have taken the back box with you.😂
Bella should be better with new silencer & new boots. Great video
Thank you both.
Never mind, you will get it sorted. You can't sell Bella now she has her superb new window cover!
I"m thinking of camping in my C3 Picasso next year, please keep us posted as to your progress...good luck.
After installing the exhaust, a few extra wraps of tape on the outside of the rubber mount will help to keep them on a bit longer
Also Fuel lagoon blinds are reversable, just undo the suction cups & swap them round. Good for winter camping when you want to keep the heat in.
24 hour live stream is a great event. Highly recommend.
When it came time to change the tyres on my car, I researched for a bit and in the end went "Man, I just want some Falken tyres". AZ450, I think. They were good, though perhaps not the best in terms of wear.
Jubilee clip is your friend (if you can't pluck up courage to weld a washer on lol). Those tyres on at present look deadly.

How very #hubnut but it would not be the same without those moments. Great little video Ian and Carly.
To stop the exhaust hanger rubbers coming off the end of the bar just graunch a nut onto the free end.
Back box📦? MUFFLER damnit 🤪! Sorry to see the various Fiasco's you have to deal with....😏... still,I shall tune in for the 24-Livestream🎉🎊👍. Woo🤪.
As mentioned use cable ties to help stop them coming off. Also Ford exhaust rubbers tend to fit most cars and you could get polyurethane ones too.
Hubnut branded cable ties obviously. Ordinary ones don't work. 😀
either that or a small jubilee clip would do the trick.
Congratulations on 120k
6:00 Looks like a May 1921 tyre to me!
I’ve used Falkens for years, a great value tyre with good performance and wear rates 👍🏻
Ian you know that the Bella on the rolling road results are now null and void with the wrong tyres size on. A recheck is needed with the correct size, its got to at least 20bhp more ! LOL
That exhaust has been sat on a shelf for quite some time bless it. The Halfords generic ones are good and we used them on the Rover 75.
Need a dictionary entry.
‘To go Hubnut’
To not go as planned, to encounter difficulties that ultimately prevent the completion of intended task (but result in amusing video content)

Klarius are a decent make of exhausts. I almost got one but found a genuine backbox and is doing ok.
I still remember applying liberal amounts of Holts GumGum paste to my very 1st MkIII Ford Cortina, the exhaust blew harder than an incontinent pensioner full of baked beans.
Fitted side pipes to my Cortina back then that fell off over my very first hump back bridge. 😂

If things don't go wrong on this channel its not being hubnut enough 😂
Exhaust hangers, soak in boiling water for a few mins then push on with WD40 or similar. Falken tyres I've had several sets over the years and always found them to be good value for my cars.
I think you will find that the tyre date code is year 05 (2005) 21 week (21)
The standard is Week and then Year, 4719 for example
Yup its WWYY format for DOT codes. See plenty of cheap ditchfinder death rings coming through that age this badly (some premium stuff doesn't age well either to be fair), reckon they're made of melted down lego or plastic bottles 😋
It keeps you off the streets these mistakes. Good luck at Kitch this weekend.
Easy mistake on the tyres Ian. Really looking forward too Saturday
I put Uniroyal rain tyres on my Xantia which I'm told is a similar compund to the original Michelins.
Hi Ian. Thanks as always for your content. Is there any chance that 2025 might be the year Hubnut finally tours the US?
Let's hope so!
@@HubNut Robert from Aging Wheels might need to get his guest room ready!
HI speedometer out economy wrong all because of wrong tyres width less grip yes it's not a lot but it all adds up good video
I'm no carpenter but built a jump box for my Kangoo for less than a hundred quid.
falkens are good, got them on my car
Definitely recommend Klarius exhausts ! Not the usual trade discount tat....
Falken All-Season tyres in the correct size is a very good decision !
Not a very good wet rating tho for a all season tyre if they only c how good will they cope in snow 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@craighorton6387 Tread pattern shifts snow / grips, good low temp performance. C rating is fine….

Klarious exhaust made up the road from me in Staffordshire.

Ha! We haven't solved the power issue yet.
All tyre sales websites come up with the wrong tyre sizes for both of my cars. Best to check the handbook or id labels on the car.
Old trick with exhaust rubbers, was temporarily fit a jubilee clip around them till the replacement came.
My berlingo car is 175/70R14 (84) but my van version 800kg had 175/65R14 van tyres, i ended up just putting XL car tyres on (86) as they were cheaper, i never carried any weight

4:30 I have to ask, did you try to use the mount upside down?
So.....what you are saying is that you didn't actually check the tyre size on the vehicle beforehand????
Good video 😀
I'm surprised you didn't go down the roadkill route and use zip ties to stop them coming off

how much does the tyre profile change your gearing and does that have a knock on affect on the dyno test?
Will be interesting to see if it makes a difference. Most of the loss was engine related though...
If youre fonna sleep in bella, will you out in one of those roof ventilation things... So it loosks like a green butchers van?
Crikey! Those tyres are ancient if 2005. Changed none too soon I think.
They're not. They're 2021.
AY UP MR AND MRS HUBNUT
You should have taken the exhaust with you to get right rubbers 😅
water and fairy liquid would get those rubbers on, I had to do mine that way.
I'm a bit surprised with that all those sipes the Falkens only have a C rating for wet weather grip...
Indeed. Though from what I understand, the manufacturers choose the ratings.
Things don't always go Hubnut. If I was changing that exhaust, the clamp nuts would break off, the old muffler pipe would have "grown" onto the tailpipe necessitating a hacksaw job. Then fitting up the new pipe it would not slide over or over the old pipe. It would be an odd recommendation for a tyre if it isn't up to the vehicles maximums. I have found that having air in them helps...
Hmm would that affect dyno figure?
10:17 bit of a waste of time Citroën putting that tyre label there.... "read instructions after starting job"... so very Hub Nut! 😂
Wow that might be the cause of the back kick out under load tires to small?
No, not a noticable difference in grip because of size alone.
No, that was crap tyres under inflated.
Tell me you'll be getting Falkens for the Falcon 😁
Should really!
A piece of rubber hose would have been better than tape on the exhaust hanger.
An inch of hose in stead of tape would have done the job perfectly.
Better keep that Krypton lamp away from Superman
Klarius exhaust parts are bilge as you have figured out, best avoided

Would that tyre size discrepancy have affected Bella's Dyno run?
Oh good thinking!
@HubNut not much possibly but every little bit helps to restore Bella's honour.
Maybe supply an Apple Air-Tag to each entrant? We can all track them then.
Takes some of the suspense out of it. We will be checking in with the teams regularly.
