*FREE MOD ALERT!*

TOOLS / ITEMS NEEDED
Ratchet
10mm socket (deep)
Flathead screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
Wire cutters
X-Acto knife
Soldering iron
Solder
Elec tape
Please LIKE & SUBSCRIBE! Thank you.
@Forward Momentum That is a great mod, and the best part is it really changes the look of the car at night when you activate the brake lights, awesome work once again.
The loud honda in the back ground had me rolling 😂
I know right? I was like, “seriously bro?” Then I thought, well it might be funny.
@@ForwardMomentum it was glad u didn't edit that lol
Best part of the video 🤣🤣
Best mods are free mods!
When i first bought my 2000 GS300, while replacing blown brake light bulbs, I'd noticed there were dual filament bulbs in the upper taillights. At first, i thought there was something wrong...then after seeing another GS with the same lights, I learned they didn't illuminate from the factory. I knew i was going to add them to the brake light circuit (one day), but after watching your video, it sped up the mod process lol. Thanks!!
BRO YOU ARE THE BOMB!! US LEXUS OWNERS THANK YOU!!
Just did my brake lights. Looks so much better. Thanks for the info.
Most definitely gonna do this to my car thanks for the info
The first thing I did was upgrade the taillight to some stock 430's.
Nice mod
Not a bad idea. Might have to bite your idea lol
I love that it was pretty easy.
this is going to be part of my quarantine COVID-19 update lol
Thank you so much for making videos on this beautiful car, I envy your ruby red:((( so much better than my silver bullet
I actually love silver! But thank you for the kind words!
@@ForwardMomentum millenium silver is pretty cool
nice profile picture
Nice work!!
I have a gs430 so im good to go
Thx for the subtle reminder! Edited the title. :)
Thanks for the vids 💯💯
Adding light upgrade to my list of things to do to my GS 400
Will do this if I don't find a decently priced set of 430 taillights
430 taillights would fit 300 gs?
It works ! good free mod !
Definitely following
Awesome. Thank you
Its like Toyota intended the black wire to be connected but they wanted to save a dime on the assembly line😂
Thanks 😊
GSz rock!
I'm going to do this mod soon as I get home from work
Let me know how it goes!
Sure will. I'll make a video Friday when I'm off
Rico Banks right on. Just subbed!
Thanks alot....
Thank so much for the videos men, I just get a gs but having some difficulties with some issues, by any chance you have a digital service manual you can share🙏 causr i cant find it any where
There’s a copy of the FSM on the LEXUS GS300/GS400/GS430 Facebook page in the Files section.
Lmao it's like they left it on purpose for you to modify it lmaooo
The only thing I can think of is that regulations changed the plan late in the game. Meaning, when you have this hooked up, it exceeded the maximum illuminated brake lamps from the rear of the vehicle which may have been 5. I still need to look that up. Rather than doing a full design change, they may have elected to leave it as-is and modify the build instructions instead. Just my speculation.
@@ForwardMomentum right, that makes sense. I wonder if the jdm spec models have them equipped hmm interesting. Good to see your page doing well man, it's kinda good to resurrect the uzs chassis code back
In EU spec gs300/430 that bulb isn't even there nor theres a place for it lmfao.
Sorry to ask questions on an old video, but do you know if the wiring harness for the pre-facelift taillights is interchangeable with that of the post-facelift?
I have some pre-facelift taillights that I want to install that don't have a good harness, was wondering if I can just use my current harness on the “older” taillights
The harness plug itself and pinouts should be the same. The difference is the reverse light socket. So you would need to replace the reverse light bulb plug only.
Lexus didn’t illuminate the upper section due to when you press the brake it will attract more attention when it’s not already lit. But cool anyway, think I’ll leave mine stock though.
Wouldn’t you want more attention if someone was braking ahead of you? What I read is that the CFRs in the US stipulate the amount of illuminated points on the rear of each USDM vehicle at the time of manufacture and that’s incorporated into the design. Therefore these positions were not active for those reasons at that time (it would have exceeded the OEM allowable CFR, at least in the USDM) and would have been a “wasted design” to have them active.
@@ForwardMomentum i agree with you. Maybe I didn’t word it clearly. Take yours and take one from the factory. Side by side people will see the one that is not lit on top far faster when a bright light comes on when applied compared to yours that’s lit all the time then a bright light comes on when the brakes are applied. A dark spot that lights up bright attracts more attention than a lit spot that’s lights up a tad more. But most modern cars now days are set up like the mod you did. I get why Lexus did that, for cost and safety.
Stock I have the led taillights can’t do this :(
Thanks man really nice.. About too do mine also. Hey I'm a new gs300 owner. Would you happen to have the Fog light Mod? Or can someone please tell me how too because I can't find it anywhere. Thanks
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the GS family. Can you elaborate on which fog light mod you’re referring to? Changing to yellow or always on with high beams?
Hi, love your videos bro, quick question, I have a 98 gs300, my brake lights work when I press the brakes, if I turn the headlights on the brake lights along with my running lights do not work, I've checked the fuses related to the lights, also tried changing the bulbs and nothing, any tips on where I should check next? And is there a relay for the running lights? Thanks I'm advanced bro.
Thanks for watching. I’m very novice when it comes to electrical. I would focus on the switch and the relay. However, I would consult with someone better suited at electrical troubleshooting. Also, the FSM has pretty extensive guides in it for narrowing things down. Might check there too.
@@ForwardMomentum thank you for such a quick reply you're the man, I have posted my question to one of the Lexus GS groups and they were pretty lost as well but thanks I'll keep searching as this seems to be a rare occurrence.
Nice mod bruh an when u going to make a video of doing transmission mods to make it shift out alil quicker 😈
You can turn the “dial” to III and it will firm up the shifts, but you have to drop the pan. Huge pain!
Yeah the free.99 valve body upgrade is kinda cool. Mines on stock and I still get incredible times
I have a 2003 Lexus gs300 sports design. Brake lights work and running lights do not. All fuses are good and bulbs. Need help
@Forward Momentum, i noticed the face lift headlight have similar cabling. There are 2 double bulbs, but only one is wired to the brakes. I am going to wire the other one in the coming days, just wonder ,if you are planning a video on this ?
I wasn’t planning this, but let me know how it goes please.
@@ForwardMomentum well it happened to be exactly the same as on the preface lift. The black wire is not connected and you need to connect it to the green/white going to the bulb, where the stop light works. I have a picture, if you decide you need one.
Nice mod 👍 you could have just used a wire tap. No cutting or soldering required.
Yep! I just prefer soldering. I find it therapeutic. LOL
maybe should of ran the black wire around with the loom , just to give slack to change bulb and can tape it up easier
That’s a decent thought. Lots of options for sure.
Could you show us how to make the spoiler brake light work???
Mine never worked either. I ripped it out.
Does this work on the LS? The stock brake lights work the same way only the bottoms illuminate.
No idea. Check it out and report back?
Will this do something for the updated lights as well?
No. Only applicable to old style.
I'm trying to figure out how to get my spoiler brake light to come on with my inside brake light.
I ended up yanking mine off. I think it went out because I couldn’t get it to work.
Have you tried a two stage bulb?
I have the Amazon depo led tails. Would this work to get the outer part of brake light to activate as well.
I think it's setup the same way. If I get a chance to do it I'll update this comment
What type of Spoiler is on the trunk? There is no break light, I would like one for my White GS300. Where do you find one?
I have the factory spoiler. It had a brake light originally, but it stopped working so I yanked it off.
@@ForwardMomentum Awesome! Good idea, Thanks!
For some reason people think that my brake lights are reverse lights and when I hit the brake they think My cars in reverse🤔. I have a gs300 as well, the 2 inner brake lights for mine are white tho, the same color as the reverse lights so I’m thinking that that’s the reason why people confuse them for the reverse, my outer lights are red tho, and they both come on at the same time when I hit brake.
Yeah, get new inners. Common issue on these.
Normally there red but they get sun bleach you need to replace them or put in a red bulb. common issue with the trunk lights.
Does this work with the 01+ tail lights??
I don’t think so because the design is different.
Thanks but this is Not for me😥...if you know how I tossed and turned over Changing my MAF sensor..😭..after watching countless vids ..it's called Technophobia😂 but i changed it 👏👏👏 and the response at kickdown and take off is Amazing!!!..Can you post More preventive tips Videos that will make Components last longer?
Did this throw a light on the dash?
No. Never.
Why does its spoiler lights not work? Is there a problem in it?
Good eye. Yes, that light died long ago and I removed it.
@@ForwardMomentum I have gs 300.2001 👍😁
I got do this one day
Is that on every rear pare
No, the design changed in 2000, so these tail lights were on limited years only.
98, 99, & 2000 GS300/400 only. The taillights changed in 01 & up.
Mine did this already… should I be concerned?
No.
the circle lights on my trunk only illuminate when braking :(
You purchased and/or did something wrong. Check it all again.
@@ForwardMomentum it was like that before i did anything, just noticed it today when looking with the lights on. i need to follow the wires past the trunk and see
Idk bout u but it messed up my electrical system
Don’t know what to say. It’s straightforward. Mine is good.
Is it me or does my GS300 have horrible gas mileage 🤣
My GS4 averages 18mpg. 21 if I am nice to it on the highway.
I thought something was wrong with my car🤣🤣🤣 but some mechanic said its a “Lexus GS” they dont save gas😂
I get 26 hwy with my 02 SD. Under 120k miles on it though.
