You said it's not as fast as it used to be. I've got a 2008 IS 350. I walnut blasted the valve chambers. It was a big two day event which I did myself. That helped. But the much easier and at least as effective treatment I have my car that made a huge difference in the power and torque at the lower end of the power band was using the oil carbon cleaner product that Scotty Kikmer has been putting in his videos. It's done at the time of the oil change. ATS CRO 505. I was kind of shocked at the before and after. 225k miles and it's running great again. Getting 4 more miles per gallon combined too. Love my Lexus. Would really like to get a GS.
I'm about to pick up a 2000 GS400 with 325,000 miles and I'm not even scared, in fact I'm excited. Once I was at a mcd's drivethough picking up a 10 piece in my 2004 cypress pearl green LS430. And the kid at the window was really digging the car and asking questions about it. I have a hate/love with my 2001 Lexus GS300. I bough it modded with a bunch of serialnine suspension parts from my friend and it still has low miles 179k miles. I am the 3rd owner. As much as I want to sell it, I still haven’t really got to enjoy it and build it my way since it still looks the same as my friend sold it to me. Only did audio & switched out the old coil overs for new ones. Hopefully I can get it running & build it the way I want it so then I can actually enjoy it & drive it daily.
I just bought two of them. This car is a dying breed. I love this car its solid and loves to drive. I bought mine to drive all over the country and put a ton of miles on it.
Great vid. Recently started looking into getting a gs400/430. Preferably 430 to match with my cousin’s 430 lol. Anyways the gs v8’s check my boxes…luxury, comfort, reliability, power & sound. Super hard to find a clean low mileage one though.
Yea I wouldn't be too concerned about mileage as long as it's been well cared for. Low mileage examples are really rare and probably really overpriced.
@@AutoMatticMatt That’s true they’re hard to find in general currently. I wouldn’t mind a higher mileage one as long as it has good records and/or timing/ball joints done. Those were the 2 biggest things I had to look out for when I bought my is300 as well.
This Lexus looks damn near around what my dream is for my gs430! I have a 2003 Lexus GS430 with 135,000 miles on it and I still love my baby. Owned it since 2005. If someone has an opportunity to grab one, I suggest you do it.
Great video! I purchased an unmodified, stock, zero rust 1999 GS 400 in the middle of last year. The elderly original owner, who no longer drives, sold me a well-maintained gold-colored exterior with a tan interior example with 103,000 miles for $2,000. While it's not the color I would have chosen, considering what I paid and invested into it, I feel very fortunate to own this vehicle. I love this car! I've had to undertake some maintenance tasks, including replacing the timing belt, water pump, and serpentine belt and changing every fluid and filter. Additionally, I replaced both exterior rearview mirrors and performed preventive maintenance by changing the thermostat. The driving experience is nothing short of amazing. I agree that it is an excellent cruiser for long highway trips. My friends, who drive much newer cars, often praise its smooth ride and quietness. Thanks to your video and Car Care Nut, I successfully changed the timing belt, and my total investment in this car is now around $3,000. Perhaps in the future, you could consider installing a front/rear dash camera with a rearview camera, allowing us to DIY that project. I've purchased new Moog lower ball joints and will install them soon. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for the info man. I really do appreciate it. I have a Lexus GS300 and I knew about most of the problems but I did not know about the actuators on the doors. You been a big help bro. Thank you

Messaged you a week or so ago and I got no reply/don’t even know if you got the message/comment. I found a 98 gs400 w a supercharger and I was debating on getting it or a 2013 gs350. I couldn’t decide between the 2 and I asked you your opinion. Now the supercharged 400 is sold and I’m really regretting not getting it. It was super clean w lots of maintenance and mods and he sold it for cheap. I’m low key cryin over here
My bad man. Where did you message me? I usually try to stay away from cars that have been heavily modified by the previous owner anyway. It's extremely hard to trust people these days. If you want a supercharged gs400 find a decent un modified one and do it your way. Might be a reason it was sold for cheap 🤷🏿♂️.
@@AutoMatticMatt thanks for the reply., and I messaged you on one of your videos. They may have taken it down becasue I included links of the cars. When I says cheap he sold it for 7200 and was originally asking 10. The car was CLEEEESAANN man

*Where a GS any model beats today's normal cars like Kias, Nissan, etc in that power range is TORQUE. When your car HP matches TORQUE that's a good balance of pulling away quick from the line*
Great video man. What are your thoughts on gs300s vs gs400s? Mpg seems pretty average across the board but how about reliability? It's so hard to find a lower mileage clean gs400 here in California. They're all 200k+ with torn interiors or body damage.
I’ve been having my 99 Ls400 for 3 months now I love the motherfucker came with 158k got it for 4K now has 166k lol dented my door but will be fixed soon nothing beats a classic Lex
It’s annoying being in the south east trying to get back into a gs430/400 all the ones for sale are either way overpriced, completely beat up and ragged out, or both. I see a lot of ragged out stance cars with excessive camber and 250-300k miles on the market for $8k. I have no issue getting one of these cars with high miles I know how they are but I’m not paying $8k for someone’s old stance car project that looks trashy and is high miles as well.
Hold up the sun roof can go up like that tf?? I have owned my 98 gs400 for over a year and rebuilt it. Never knew that whatsoever. Learn something new everyday
I'm barley realizing how lucky I am that my sister's client was selling this car and I got it for $900 with a brand new transmission and I've only put about 1k into it and it's running great. Definetly needs new paint but I haven't even put the amount it's worth into it yet🤑🤑 this is a great video
I’m considering the Gs or the Es from 2002 to 2006. I like both designs , not really into speed as im retired older male but I’m more into comfort. I value reliability as well. My thoughts are I like the deign better of the Gs but feel the Es has comfort and responsibility a bit over the Gs. Any thoughts as to am I wrong . I do prefer the Gs , is it just as reliable? I do think my chances of getting a better condition Es that has been babied by older person is higher.
hey man i have the same car i was wondering how many miles to the tank do you get? thanks for the info about your car, my front suspension is shot and ball joints are done for. also creeking in my power steering rack . thanks for your time

The car was CLEEEESAANN man
@@AutoMatticMatt well I got in touch w the person that bought the car and I may be buying it from him. He’s a young kid/dissapointed that the car doesn’t have the hellcat whine lol
@@Itsleethe1upload a video when you get it
i'm looking into GS350 and later on get a 2nd gen for a manual swap in the future
What’s up with the 2G!?! I just picked up a front lip for mine. Vid coming soon (this is for shared viewers rather than you directly) 😅

Stock for stock I'd go gs400 all day. The 1UZ is arguably more reliable and it's pretty easy to work on and it is a workhorse.
checked one out today, made an offer, and the guy accepted. 2 owner 170k mile gs400 as first car for 5k
I’ve been having my 99 Ls400 for 3 months now I love the motherfucker came with 158k got it for 4K now has 166k lol dented my door but will be fixed soon nothing beats a classic Lex
Make a videos of how you installed the radio please
It’s annoying being in the south east trying to get back into a gs430/400 all the ones for sale are either way overpriced, completely beat up and ragged out, or both. I see a lot of ragged out stance cars with excessive camber and 250-300k miles on the market for $8k. I have no issue getting one of these cars with high miles I know how they are but I’m not paying $8k for someone’s old stance car project that looks trashy and is high miles as well.
Yea.. Most of them are overpriced. I agree
@@AutoMatticMatt hopefully I can get another one soon so I can supercharge it! I regret selling my black on black gs430
Just picked up a 2000 with 120,000 miles for 6k. First Lexus
Hold up the sun roof can go up like that tf?? I have owned my 98 gs400 for over a year and rebuilt it. Never knew that whatsoever. Learn something new everyday
Thanks for the info... I'm debating a GS or Infiniti FX for a daily.
Gs all mf day!
@@ohc50 I ended up getting a super rare IS300 SportCross
I have a 98 gs300, i wanted the gs400 but my boii talked me into the 300, but the v8 still callin my name 😮💨😮💨, i hella want both asap lol
I had a 01 gs300. Sold it. Realized I'd proby never actually GTE swap it. The stock NA 2J just wasn't doing it for me. I loved the car though.
@@AutoMatticMatt yeah bro thats kind of how Im feeling, love the 2j but my gs is going to be stock for a while
I'm barley realizing how lucky I am that my sister's client was selling this car and I got it for $900 with a brand new transmission and I've only put about 1k into it and it's running great. Definetly needs new paint but I haven't even put the amount it's worth into it yet🤑🤑 this is a great video
That's a steal! You can't go wrong at that price! My first GS I paid $900 dollars for. But it was a GS300 and needed a ton of work.
should def make a video on that tablet setup
Buy em boost em n never look back
That car is 🔥 !!! What's the name of the paint? I love it! I want that paint!!

Go for the GS300 98/2005
Very nice video man. Great car. 🙏
Thanks bro.
Nice car 👍 just subscribed
hey man i have the same car i was wondering how many miles to the tank do you get? thanks for the info about your car, my front suspension is shot and ball joints are done for. also creeking in my power steering rack . thanks for your time
Maybe like 16 mpg. I've never actually monitored it. I will say it's much better on the highway
My gs400 has a blinking red light left of steering wheel. Can I disconnect I think it's draining my battery
What rear spaces are u running? Debating on getting em but wanna be safe out there.
I don't have spacers
Is it lowered? And how much and what size tires are rims setup u got
I got my 1999 for $1000 only needed the brake booster
Bout to pick one up tomorrow
Hella clean
Seen one on the market with 220,000 miles for $4,000 would y’all recommend buying?
Hard to say without seeing the specific one. Maybe if it's been well kept and the timing belt has been replaced.
So I’m my gs300 my door light stay on when doors closed but not as bright when it’s open and the car would be completely off is that normal
Love this car ❤
What kind of radio is that?
Nice gs, what exhaust do you have in there
I took the cheap approach and cut the mufflers and bought some exhaust tips. 🤣
@@AutoMatticMatt Gotcha sound good ,

what size are your rims?
Wheeel size and how wide
I would love a low mileage GS400! They don’t exist!
If you did find a low mileage example. The seller would likely know what they got and demand a premium 🤣.
I gust got me one with 150,000 Mi California car
