    It all looks so calm and organized! But, if you have watched Living Traditions, you know sometimes it's a bit chaotic at times, and gets messy...but over the years, it has slowly dialed in to a very nice picture! You two certainly have made good decisions this last year. Yes, God had his hand on your decision making process. Grow on!

    • @Leiannev
      @Leiannev 4 місяці тому +23

      I have watched almost every video LTH has put forth & I think they are one of the least chaotic, most thought out & helpful channels you will ever watch. From the beginning Kevin & Sarah have showed us skilled, well thought out projects & processes. They left corporate America & transitioned into a self sufficient lifestyle debt free . Farming is hard work, perseverance & having a great deal of flexibility when things don’t go as planned. Yes, farming can be chaotic at times with all the “ balls in the air”. Of all the channels I watch for entertainment or to learn from, I look to them when it comes to making serious, well thought out decisions because I know they will use their brains to think through the process.

    I grow Carolina Reapers, just one pot every year. My hot sauce is 4 little peppers with over a pound of jalapenos and a couple habaneros. All that makes 2 quarts of hot sauce that my spice loving husband says tests his limits. This year I gave the second quart to our pastor since at the last chili cook off he sat there and ate that sauce with chips, much to my shock since everyone else about hit the deck after trying it. Dilute those ghost peppers like crazy and it will be great. I like that opening sequence. We're aiming to start that ourselves in a few years but at least starting with chickens next year. Keep it up!

    This Summer I grew 1 Armageddon pepper plant which produced tons of peppers. It measures 1.2-1.3 million Scoville units. I very carefully cut one open just to harvest the seeds and even with being so careful it maced me, I couldn’t breathe. Even later in the shower as soon as the water came down over my head the steamy shower filled with hot pepper mace and I felt like I was going to pass out. Hot chilis are no joke! I have no idea what I’m going to do with my bountiful harvest so I’ll keep watching to see if you come up with a plan for yours. BTW if you or anyone wants some Armageddon seeds let me know🥵

      Same here in Phoenix area. I have an abundance of peppers in late spring - lots of fresh eating and a variety hot sauces. When it's really hot, I get a lot of peppers but they are small. When temps get into the low 100s, I prune them back and before long they bring on a new flush of foliage and lots more large peppers. The plants keep producing through the winter unless we get a hard frost (which rarely happens where I live). I had one pepper plant that was 2+ years old but it will be pulled this fall because it has given me all the peppers it can.

    • @sharibc3597

      @@FlawedNForgiven wow! We do get a hard freeze here so nothing will survive I think. I have had tomatoes survive the first freezing temps because I was just one night! 😂 Next day temps got back up in the 70’s then rest of the week was in low 80’s I believe. The frost killed everything else but the cherry tomato plant bounced back within a few days! 😁

    If you want a suggestion for what to do with your excess hot peppers, I dehydrated our extras ( do NOT do this indoors!!!!!) then ground them and added the powder to our birds' feed (chickens, geese and ducks as well as wild birds) the hot peppers kills parasites and the birds love it... the hot pepper powder also convinces squirrels that they want nothing to do with the birds' seed.

I actually have had them both for 2 summers now and I thought the poblano was going to die last summer as it didn't look healthy. It came back this spring snd i got a lot of nice poblanos from it. Sadly, it died in the last month. Jalapeno is still alive, so i am hoping it gives me more jalapenos. Yes, gardening in the Phoenix area is brutal!

    Dear friends, I started growing in tubs after seeing one of your videos in 2020. It solved so many of my problems in the far NW corner of Wa State where we have way more rain than sun. And I have almost no soil because of glacial cement here on the flank of a volcano. And whole yard is a weave of huge pine and oak roots. Can't dig much more than an inch. So the tubs solve my water problem, my inability to turn compost into this glacial stuff. AND tubs being raised AND black helps with warming my soil in spring. I put rounds of branches in bottom to help retain moisture during the 2 months we have little rain, but some sun. That saved my garden during forest fires and high heat periods when it was unsafe to go outside and water. Thank you for inspirations! ❤

      Hi, I am in Redmond, WA. In dealing with our dry summer ends, add a teaspoon of Soil Moist to the middle layer in your tubs. It is a polymer crystal which absorbs water and releases back to roots. Watering refills them again. I use only steer manure to start and grow my seeds and plants, gives good nutrition for plants to grow. I have gone to 2' high raised beds for all my gardening.

    If you ever rub your eyes after touching peppers and your eyes start to burn use Sarah's hair (not wet hair) to rub your eyes thoroughly. Continue to rub until the burning stops. I also love growing peppers. I have been obsessed with super hot peppers for many years, although I’m not that guy who can just eat them fresh. I have a seed collection that has over 250 varieties of peppers, but Ghost peppers are my favorite super hot. My favorite way to eat them is as pepper flakes added to white chocolate with sea salt, absolutely amazing! I also like powdering them and adding sparingly to seasonings, and ghost pepper pickles are fantastic, just poke a hole in one or 2 ghost peppers with a knife and add to a large jar of pickles and let them sit for a few weeks.

    Kevin and Sarah, I am really surprised with your ability to grow/harvest such prolific peppers that you haven't ever grown the sweet salad peppers. If you have I wasn't aware of it. Love your channel, many blessings to you and yours from another Phoenician!
