Finishing a thin-walled wooden vase on a lathe

The modification of a thin-walled wooden vase is shown; the technological leg had to be ground down.
To do this, I made a special stopper, which is inserted into the vase so that the vase does not collapse when installing it in a lathe chuck.

The leg was a technological surface to which I secured the vase when I processed its inner surface. Now, in order to grind off the leg, the vase needs to be secured somehow.
It is dangerous to fasten a thin-walled vase either by expansion in the jaws or by compression in the chuck; it may burst.
Therefore, before clamping the vase, I decided to insert a cork inside, which I also made from wood.
The production of a cork from a large thick log on a small lathe is shown.
Shown is how I ground down the foot of a vase using a modified radius cutter. I modified it from a shaped radius cutter and increased the rake angle.
And I made this vase itself using this one cutter. How I did this is shown in my video.

I coated the vase with mineral oil for cutting boards.
The structure of the tree (elm) appeared better.
This is how, with the help of a cork (plug), we managed to modify a thin-walled vase and grind off the technological leg.

Я помню в школе подобные точил на стд-120м лет 25 назад, уже после металлообработкой увлёкся😊

Самая большая для меня трудность, это точная работа двумя подачами. В техникуме на 1к62 в своё время кстати легко в две подачи оформлял фаски на заготовке, а сейчас предпочитаю всё-таки отогнутым резцом. Иначе ни угла, ни поверхности может не получиться😂

Я на планшайбу через газету приклеиваю. Это проще чем точить оправку. Планшайба из фанеры, она на любые диаметры годится ))
