@Southern Seminary Actually there is scripture to back up this question >>>
John 15:24 (Jesus spoke about nonbelieving jews))>>
''If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.''
As we know, the infants would have had no chance of seeing nor understanding any miracles or any teachings, even if it was taught to them ..because they have no understanding...therefore they are not guilty of sin and will be saved

I think this also shows the concept of an age of accountability has a basis in Scripture.
“For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings. - Isa 7:16

Children will go to hell if they are of the age of accountability to is around the age of 5-6. But children under that age have most likely not sinned and will not go to hell

God gave me comfort to this 24 years ago after my first miscarriage. I've had 7 or 8. But with my first one after she died. I dreamed she was about 5 in heaven with my deceased grandparents. They never spoke but looked at me waved and walked away. But then she stopped turned to me and waved again. Never thinking that God was preparing me for the other miscarriages. Yes they did hurt but also gave me peace to know they are in heaven with our Father-God. I always joke saying I might not have any on earth yet but I got a whole basketball team in heaven waiting on me.

Matt 18:3 (NASB) "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of God." The inference here is that children who die before they really know the difference between good and evil are in the kingdom of God. I agree with this message, and this is another reason why.

    • @StephanieSomer
      @StephanieSomer 4 роки тому +8

That reasoning is faulty. It's human wisdom. For one thing, they are NOT "his children", they are their parents children. People are not God's children by being born. They are His children by being born again, through faith. And even a fetus IS capable of faith. The concept of the "Fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man" is earthly wisdom, not Scriptural. Don't see God as you wish Him to be. See Him as He is. Scripture does draw that picture for us. Use that drawing, not your reasoning. Because while our reasoning can sometimes coincide with Scripture's drawing, relying on it will eventually lead to a wrong path. The destiny of babies is not even slightly influenced by what we want to happen. It is determined by God's nature. His true nature. Not what we want Him to be.

    • @maxaplin4204
      @maxaplin4204 4 роки тому +5

@@StephanieSomer I think you are right that the reasoning is faulty, because God loves all adults but not all adults will end up in heaven.
But you are wrong to say that people are not God's children by simply being human beings. In Acts 17:29, Paul, speaking to some pagan Greeks, quotes a pagan poet approvingly:
'We are also his [God's] children'.
In one sense all human beings are God's children, but in another, deeper sense only the saved are his children.
I doubt you are right that fetuses can have faith, but your point about not seeing God as we wish him to be is a very good one.

    • @StephanieSomer
      @StephanieSomer 4 роки тому +4

@@maxaplin4204 As you correctly said, Paul was quoting a pagan poet. That pagan was not referring to God. At least, not the true God.
If you doubt a fetus can posses faith, then perhaps you have a better explanation than the Holy Spirit gave when He spoke through Elizabeth in Luke 1 concerning why the baby in Elizabeth's womb lept. I'll give a quick synopsis of the event. Mary, who was now carrying the fetal Christ within her, went to visit Elizabeth while Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant with John the Baptist. When Mary got to the door and called out to her cousin Elizabeth, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking. And the words she gave forth said that the baby lept in her womb for joy. Joy is an expression of the heart of a believer at the presence of God. The Holy Spirit bare record that the fetal John the Baptist expressed joy. So, just HOW did he feel joy? And more to the point, how was he aware of the presence of God in the room? Even more importantly, HOW did he even know who God is, since God can be known ONLY through faith? This event demonstrates like no other that even fetuses CAN know God. God cannot be known without faith, for "he who comes to God must first believe that He is". Therefore, it follows that John the Baptist possessed faith, even saving faith, before his own birth. Didn't even Christ declare, "unless you all come as little children you cannot be saved"? Little children have a very distinct advantage when it comes to faith. They don't balk and doubt like we do. They BELIEVE. The entire doctrine of age of accountability and other such ideas is contrary to what this event demonstrates. So, what happens to babies who die, even before birth? That depends entirely on their faith, just as it does for any other person. My own opinion is that since they've never had the opportunity to experience the pleasure of sin, ( and let there be no doubt, sin IS pleasurable), most would choose God rather than their sinful ways. But that is pure conjecture on my part. God alone has that true answer. And anyone who takes it upon themselves to declare they have the whole truth concerning this issue is deceived. THIS is the picture Scripture paints. If that picture differs from what you think God is like, it's not the Scripture that is mistaken. See Him as He IS, not as you want Him to be.

@@StephanieSomer You have said quite a lot there, too much for me to comment on in depth, so I will limit myself to a few points in reply:
First, regarding people being the children of God:
In Acts 17:22-31 is Paul's speech to the people of Athens. In v. 24 Paul begins to tell the Athenians about God:
'The God who made the world and everything in it - he is Lord of heaven and earth - does not live in temples made by hands.'
So in v. 24 Paul is talking about the true God.
Then in verses 25-27 he continues talking about the true God.
Then in verses 28-29 he continues further talking about the true God:
28 'For in him we live and move and have our being, as even some of your own poets have said, "For we are also his children." 29 Since, then, we are God's children . . .'
Paul quotes the pagan poet in v. 28, but at the beginning of v. 29 he clearly agrees with what the poet said.
This passage is an example of what we could call 'bridge-building evangelism'. Paul builds a bridge with the Athenians by highlighting a point of agreement, in this case that human beings are God's children. The fact that the Athenian poet would not have been thinking precisely about the Christian God is beside the point. Paul himself in v. 29 describes human beings as children of God.
In one sense all human beings are children of God, but in another sense only the saved are. Being children of God is a metaphorical expression, and this metaphor is used in different ways in Scripture.
      Second, on fetuses having faith:
You are right that the leaping of John the Baptist in the womb is relevant for this issue. But how exactly are we to take this? Is it that JB literally understood that he was in the presence of the Messiah? Or are we to think more that God caused him to leap without a real understanding of why? I accept that prima facie it does more naturally seem to suggest that fetuses can have faith, but I don't think it's as clear you you think it is.
On the other hand, Rom 10:17 is difficult for your view:
'So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.'
This verse seems to suggest that you need to understand something with your mind and respond to it before you have faith. Nothing in Scripture leads us to think that anyone could ever hear the message of Christ without being able to understand it clearly in their mind.
Also, I think experience with toddlers fits poorly with the idea that babies and fetuses can have faith. At the age when children begin to talk, Christian parents need to teach them to trust God. This isn't something that seems to come naturally to them.
I am not sure about this issue, but I prefer the view that babies and fetuses are unable to have faith.
Third, on the age of moral accountability:
I think we can infer this principle from Scripture. In Rom 5:13 Paul says:
'. . . but sin is not charged to a person's account where there is no law.'
It is true that Paul is talking about adults here, but I think we can extrapolate what he says to babies and fetuses. They are not capable of distinguishing between right and wrong (e.g., Isa 7:16), so presumably they are not under any law. When they are old enough to know right from wrong, they come under the law of God and reach an age of moral accountability.
Fourth, on Jesus' words about becoming like children:
It is true that he said in Matt 18:3:
'. . . unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven'.
However, the children in view in this passage are older than babies. In v. 6 Jesus warns people against causing 'one of these little ones who believe in me to fall away'. This implies that the children are old enough to be tempted to sin.

Shane Lynch: I couldn't help myself but intervene to correct a misconception. There are no souls which leave the body and float away to some surreal place. No one goes to heaven or a burning hell. Humans were NEVER created to live in heaven. All these are unbiblical teachings.
John 3:13 Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
When someone dies, even an unborn baby, they just go back to the dust (Ecclesiastes 3:19,20). These, however, will be resurrected back on earth after God's government (kingdom) takes over the rule of this earth (Acts 24:15). Christians pray for this:
Matthew 6:10  Let your Kingdom COME. Let your will take place, as in heaven, ALSO ON EARTH.
God's original purpose is that humans populate this earth and live forever on it (Genesis 1:28). This was thwarted by Satan for a short while. But with Jesus' sacrifice (John 3:16) will come to fruition.
Psalm 37:29 The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it. (Matthew 5:5)

This is how this question is answered:
"The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them."
    -- Ezekiel 18:20
Yes, even unborn and newborns have the sin nature - but there is no direct sin that can be 'credited to their account', and so they are not condemned.
Even as David's terrible sin sin was taken away (2 Samuel 12:13), and also the sins of Isaiah, whatever they might have been (Isaiah 6:6) simply by God's choice and grace, so are the sins of babies taken away.

Thinking that humans who die are living somewhere safe is a comforting thought.
However, the bible gives us the knowledeg to really comfort grieving humans.
The dead don't go anywhere when they die. They just cease to exist except in God's memory. Jesus called it a sleep (John 1:11,14)
Psalm 146:3, 4 Do not put your trust in princes Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. 4 His spirit goes out, he RETURNS TO THE GROUND; On that very day his THOUGHTS PERISH.
Under God's government these dead will be resurrected and reunited with family and friends on this earth (Acts 24:15).
Humans will then get an opportunity to live on earth without the need to die again as was God's original purpose in creating humans (John 3:16).

I could be wrong here but isnt death a result of sin? we inherit the sin of Adam not our birth parents. Romans 5: "12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come." i think we can be reassured that our kids/toddlers will make it to heaven by the Grace of God through a gifted faith. John jumped at the voice of Mary. David said he would see his child in the afterlife. God is just so he will do the right thing and He is good to us as he always has been. He will look out for us and our families- as Promised and Always. Do we believe this? If we say kids get to heaven because of age then we will see millions of people in heaven who needed no faith, no trust in Christ, no Grace and would only say i died young. God's grace and mercy will save our kids but by grace through faith in Him who died to save us all.

I have always found Jesus statement "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" as strong support for little children going to heaven. That was Matthew 19:14 and we see that statement in all of the synoptic gospels.

true, i think the argument from general revelation is also profoundly true, because it answers a related question with regard to mentally retarded children; what about mentally retarded children who never grow conscieous of their existence, and so cannot perceive and thus reject the natural revelation of GOD? Very profoundly biblically true

It is the choice of the individual soul whether or not they want to go to Heaven or Hell, and their actions on earth can reflect what they are leaning towards. I don't know how a babies' soul develops, or how much of a choice they have when they die, but just about every baby that hasn't been exposed to evil will probably choose the good. Their innocence reflects that.

Learning to think critically & theologically regarding the hard questions of life like this one & keeping an open mind along with a humble heart to change one's mind whenever one sees new revelation from the scriptures is key. To hear this man reasoning from the scriptures is refreshing, especially when his reasoning comes from an accurate knowledge of Who God is. And while the sovereignty of God plays a huge part in answering this question, the mercy of God plays an even larger part in getting the answer right for those who need biblical encouragement on this subject. "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right" implies mercy, and mercy, the Bible says, triumphs over judgement. This is a glorious thing that the actions of God reveal something phenomenal about God... namely that He is a gracious God. But arguing for Him to sweep sin & sinfulness under the rug because he's a good guy is not the answer, but rather isn't the answer to this & all questions bound up in the character of God Himself & what the Bible says about His character rather than what men think about His character?
This was a great to-the-point video answer to a difficult to-the-point question that many struggle with, not only because they love "little ones" but also because they love God's character which is on the line in correctly understanding this issue. And to hear someone answer from scripture, even when there is no passage that directly refers to the answer, is very refreshing. Because it shows how we all can use the scriptures combined with the character of God Himself to find answers to difficult real life questions without having to speculate from our finite imaginations about who we believe God to be. Hasn't God taught us enough about Himself & His character for us to discern right & wrong, truth & error from the scriptures? I say yes... And, although imperfect as our lives & our ability to reason often are, I believe that's what was accurately accomplished through this video. Kudos...

~Psalms 58;3 the wicked go astray from the womb, they go atray telling lies even from birth.

~Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one.
~John 1:8. If we say we have no sin, we decieve ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
These are hard verses to get around as it pertains to mankind/babies and sin. Christians are bound by the words in their book because they have to see every word as God's absolute truth regardless of the topic. They are taught even if God's truth is uncomfortable with the believer, His words are still just.

It's not a really hard question honestly it only takes a bit of common sense.
Children do not shoulder the same accountability of sin that able minded adults do...and infants and very young children lack an understanding of right and wrong altogether.
We understand this, that's why the law and criminal responsibility apply differently to children, sometimes exempting them altogether.
So I highly doubt a perfect and just God would ignore this fact.

Yes but God knows full well that an infant completely lacks the ability to decide between right and wrong.

The question shouldn't be *do babies go to hell* , but according to the bible, the question should be, *"should babies go to hell?"*
Naturally, because of ones compassion, everyone wants to be quick to say "no!!! Babies should not go to hell." But as Christians are bound by the laws of the bible, it is said that by one man sin entered the world. Christians were taught every single person is born into sin. They were also taught everyone is, in a sense, infected with the sin disease. The bible even goes on to say from Psalms 58;3 "The wicked go estranged from the womb, they go out telling lies from birth." Then Psalms 101; 7 says no liars shall tarry in his sight. One's very own bible is the book that damns babies and children to hell. Thas a shame. And if people are truly honest in how the bible reads without trying to twist verses based on one's emotions and see just what the bible is saying regarding human kind and sin, one is left to conclude, honestly, that babies are just as guilty as a full grown adult, and according to one's own bible, babies are equally as capable of going to hell. And sadly people are bound by their convictions. Is the bible truth still?!

  • @rredhawk

I had always assumed that just as there are elect and non-elect adults then the same must be true for infants, but this video caused me to think more about this subject. Sure, infants who die are guilty of original sin just like the rest of us, but they have had little or no time or opportunity to accumulate actual personal sin(s). Surely God being a just God will consider this as he righteously and justly judges all who die as infants, along with the profoundly retarded, vegetables, and other such special cases.

In 2 Samuel 12:23, after King David’s infant son had died, he says, “But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.” I conclude after reading this verse that babies and infants go to heaven. We do enter the world as sinners, and we all deserve judgement, but I think this is where the age of accountability comes into this. James 4:17 says that “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” Babies and infants, including what liberals call “fetus” which is really just a baby, are not consciously aware of what is right and wrong because they have not received the knowledge of Good and Evil. Also, Jesus says in Matthew 19:14, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." The kingdom belongs to little children, and he goes in further saying we need to become like little children, gaining the humility they have in order to stand before God with confidence. Hope that helped.

Those that choose to reject Christ’s grace (like Cain-loved Satan more than God) will not be forced to accept it. They choose damnation because they are more “comfortable” there. He gave us all the path to chose, but he’s not going to force the human mind. All children are alive in Christ. Also, this reference here: 1 Peter 3:18-22
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
      19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.”
He suffered for the just and the unjust alike. He causeth his rain-a symbol of His grace-to fall on the just and the unjust. Those that knew not the gospel will have it preached to them in spirit and will be given the choice to accept or reject it. Some will reject, and some will move into the paradise of God where they await their resurrection, just as the man on the cross who asked Jesus to remember him. I can’t believe that some Christians think that God would damn to hell someone who he caused to grow up Bhuddist or Muslim or some other non-Christian religion. That doesn’t sound like a just God to me. It doesn’t sound like a merciful one either. But I know God is just AND merciful and that he suffered for all mankind who would repent and confess His name. He has a plan prepared for all His creations, for he has prepared a mansion for us all. He said he did.

This is a hard question. If it's the case that unborn children and infants go to heaven that just gives rise to two other questions: when is the cut off point i.e when are infants old enough to understand special revelation and so not be covered by this direct entry into heaven? Secondly, does this apply to mentally handicapped people as well? It is also difficult to think about those who have never heard the gospel because although they have God's general revelation without His special revelation they also are not able to believe but I think it's risky to start saying that some people can get into heaven without believing in Jesus by a backdoor method.

Dant e: John 15:24 is in relation to the Jews, not humans in general.
Jesus’ miraculous works, in effect, convict those who hate him, as he notes: “If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have both seen and hated me as well as my Father.” Thus, as Jesus says, the scripture is fulfilled: “They hated me without cause.”
When people die, all their sins are erased, (Roman 6:23).
They lie in the dust awaiting a resurrection under God's government.
Acts 24:15  And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Long story short: in the year 2000’, I had my first born son and 8 days later after birth he passed away from a medical condition. Back in those days I was a young teenager lost in the World, deep in the streets Hustling, and many more other things that blinded my walk with God.
Fast forward eighteen year’s later(2018’), I am a Christian now Saved by Grace, and humbly gave my life to Christ wholeheartedly in 2012’. So I have this work injury and I get a major back surgery on my spine in 2018’. They put me to sleep for the 5 hour long surgery and here’s what happened next….
I remember first waking up in the Spirit.. I couldn’t see my body, my vision was similar to a GoPro vision (P.O.V.) while looking out. The very first thing I seen from my perspective was tall glass buildings like mansions that had a bright sparkle like diamonds 💎 to it. It seemed like the buildings never ended in height. I was in this street looking around and saw everyone walking around in bright white robes of some sort. The streets where Gold but a different type of gold from earth… from a distance the gold seem to vanish and looked like wet liquid gold on the road/streets. Something stunning like a mirage. As my vision started to move away from the City I woke up to, I noticed there was around 6 kids riding bikes following me, and one particular kid that was closer to me then the rest of the other five kids. As I got out the city, everything around me reminded me of a beautiful paradise of never ending hills, trees, and bright green grass. As I came to the end of where I stopped, the kid closest to me was in my face now about 2 feet away and I could see his face, skin color, height, and body form. It was my first born son who passed away in 2000’, he was a mix of my two sons that came after him and that are alive today. He was around 10 years old now,and had a never ending smile I will never forget. He never talked to me, but I felt his energy and his mind maybe through telepathy tell me he would see me again one day and to never worry for him again. I woke up post surgery right after and remember telling the nurse where is Eric at? The last thing I seen was his smile in Heaven that resembled my brothers smile so I woke up to remembering that and the nurses didn’t know what I had just been through.
I believe God gave me a vision into my sons life in Heaven, this is what the Bible states that can happen in the Believers life. I was in tears for two weeks straight when this happened, I’m thankful for God and if you have lost a child, you will be reunited again when God calls you home.♥️

" the wicked go astray as soon as they be Born" as soon as you're born you are a what? A baby. The gentleman in the video said " we can trust God to do what's right" then we have to trust God to do what's right even when we think He's wrong. I'm not saying I want babies to go to hell. Our that I support abortion. But we don't know what a baby could grow up to be. Only God knows. The Bible says "his ways are higher than our ways his thoughts are higher than our thoughts" remember God ordered Israelites to kill whole nations women and children. Why? Because He knew what they would do when they grew up.

The Bible is referencing that as a human you are born into a sinful and wicked nature. If u wanted to disregard the true meaning of that scripture, then common sense also tells us that babies are not born with the ability to talk immediately, therefore they surely wouldn't be able to lie. All babies and children go to heaven until they are at the age of accountability. There is no set age for that, instead the ability to have a conscience to know right from wrong. And yes we as Christians do have to trust that our God is always right!

So, looking at it strictly logically (I’d like to believe that infants, who haven’t had the opportunity to receive the word of God, will go to heaven, but playing devils advocate): The example with David that you’ve pointed out is merely a hope that David had. God didn’t tell him that he’d be reunited with the infant, he simply hopes that it’d be the case, or rather, he believes it. Furthermore, from the case of simply saying “God will do the right thing”: God will do what is right by God’s standards, which apart from the direct instructions for how to live, are beyond our comprehension. Anyone who claims to know exactly what God sees as right is foolish, as we have no way of seeing through His eyes. While we can infer based on history what He decides is right, we do not definitively know what God’s judgement is like. We are, after all, imperfect, so hence our view of justice that isn’t clearly outlined by God, is imperfect. And, logically following the statement that man inherits the sin of man at conception, infants thus bare the same sin, and are not absolved without first accepting Jesus into their heart. While we might see that, an infant or fetus that hasn’t had the opportunity to do so is unfair, well, I’m certain there are other things we’ve as humans perceived as unfair, but just in the eyes of the Lord, which can never be wrong. I certainly am willing to listen though, for more concrete theological arguments, beyond just hoping that our view of justice aligns with God’s. And I’m not claiming to see things through the eyes of God either, I’m merely pointing out what, from my perspective, is a flawed argument.

So Paul is saying that if someone from the family is a believer all the family is sanctified through that person, but that doesn't mean that they will be saved. God will give them the opportunity to be saved. Now the little ones who don't know right from wrong they will be saved based on the parent's faith.
If both parents are unfaithful, then the children will not be saved, it doesn't matter if that child is innocent. That's why in the Old Testament God said to kill everyone from Canaan.

@@gabrielacristea1648 Esti romanca? Anyway, we truly don't know the mind of God, His ways are not our ways, but for God to take all the children to heaven, that would be unjust for them because God would not have given them a chance to choose if they want to or not, I'm thinking of what that child chooses when he grows up.
God knows what that child grows up to be, a good person or not because He knows the future. So I don't believe that all the children will be saved. Besides, think of all the millions of children that are killed every year through abortion, are they all going to be saved? The answer to that question will be answered when Lord Jesus comes to take us home at His second coming.
Now, why do I say that not all children are going to be saved? We have examples of christian families, both parents obedient to God and their child chooses a different path that leads to death, even though he was raised in Church basically.
On the other hand, we have families that have nothing to do with God, but their child chooses the right path and will be saved. God is just in who He chooses. I'm sure that many people from church that we look up to will not be saved and many that we thought that they had no chance of getting to heaven will be there because God judges the secret man of the heart not by appearance like men do. I am glad to finally see someone expound on this question using Scripture and not their own understanding, as most people do. I have argued with people for years over this. Most repeat the usual, "God saves them because they are innocent", or "they have never sinned", or "they can't understand the Gospel". And as you point out, none of these is relevant to the question. Most people I have argued with over the years have concluded that I hold babies go to hell. And that isn't right either. One Scriptural passage I would suggest people consider in this vein is the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth. Luke tells us that when Mary entered the house Eliabeth was immediately filled with the Holy Spirit and began prophesying. In the course of that prophesy she says that the baby in her own womb "lept with joy" at the greeting of Mary. So, according to the Holy Spirit's words through Elizabeth, the fetal John the Baptist not only could feel and express joy, he also recognized the presence of the fetal manifestation of God in the room. So, a fetus IS capable of relating to God. That being so, isn't it possible that a fetus could refuse that relationship? I would say yes. However, having never been exposed to the expression of their inherent sinful nature and the pleasure it CAN give, I would guess that they'd have very little reason to refuse God and the relationship He offers.
So, do I believe babies go to hell? I can only answer "they can if they choose". They are saved on the same grounds as we all are. Do we accept or refuse the light we have been given? "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil." The condemnation isn't a result of acts of sin. It is a result of refusing the light we are given.

I think this question falls into the category of God (the only Judge) gets to decide. Scripture is not clear. Lots of very challenging philosophical questions come up. On the one hand David says that in sin did my mother conceive me. And the Bible says that in Adam all die....so there are reasons from those verses that they might not be innocent and automatically going to heaven. Then again the Bible says in Revelation that the dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.....its hard for a baby to have done much (other than original sin). At the same time, and this is where the questions get difficult; are we not then making abortion doctors heroes if we conclude that all unborn babies go to heaven.......I mean if most people go to hell (small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life and only a few find it), then abortion would then be more effective a means of saving people then the cross of Christ. And, if were predestined, like the Bible, seems to teach, for eternal life; then why would we ever get aborted.....why wouldn't we be protected by guardian angels until we come to faith in Christ.....the bottom line is God, who is the only Judge, will get to decide. Certainly not for me to make that call.

    • @jordanpease3329
      @jordanpease3329 4 роки тому

I think you're right… The salvation of children (which seems fairly obvious in Scripture to me) would make abortion more effective than the cross from your point of view. Not exactly a powerful view of the Almighty in my opinion. Moses 1:39 tells us exactly where God finds glory and it is through our salvation (our eternal life.) That's a lot of glory for God to lose with most people in hell! Answer can be found in First Timothy 4:10 "That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." So God is going to save all people according to the Scripture but especially the believers. How does this work? In revelations we are painted with a word picture of a crucible just as was done many times in the Old Testament. The sins of the people and their torment will burn off and rise into the smoke, separated from them. It's no coincidence that crucibles in ancient times used sulfur to purify gold in a container of fire. If it is a literal lake of fire that we sit in for eternity and eternity (Aion does not mean eternity by the way, it means an age) why include the sulfur in this allegorical word picture? Is it because the pain of fire is an enough and it has to stink as well? This assertion is ridiculous. Sulfur was a component used in crucibles to purify gold. Every knee that bows and tongue that professes shall be saved and guess what everyone will do after the rapture? Every knee shall bow and tongue shall profess. If God's glory is the salvation of man and God will be made all and all (First Corinthians 15:28) Then he will have complete victory. This is why the cross is far more powerful than an abortion Dr.

Serious question though: to the "will God always do what is right?" "Right" in OUR eyes, or His? If His ways are greater and beyond our understanding, is it plausible that He believes it is RIGHT for all to be judged for sin, that even newborns are condemned in original sin? This is worrisome for me.
And for the opportunity standpoint: what about people who have never had the chance to hear the gospel? Aren't they condemned even though they also had no opportunity? And if they ARE innocent as well because of the lack of opportunity wouldn't it be counter-productive for anyone to have ever spread the gospel if ignorance of it would have kept us safe from Hell?

He forgot to tell us. Will the babies be in heaven live as a babies? Well, that would be suck to me. Plus, if someone could be a hero by killing babies (as painless as possible) to prevent them to go to hell then he would be a hero that be send to hell by God. He would be a "sinner" but a hero nonetheless to those babies. Those babies in heaven will then think: "Ah thank you my hero for saving us from God's crazy unnecessary game." But i wish i could've saved you from hell, said the babies as they cry in heaven for the hero. How am i gonna enjoy heaven with people suffering in hell. I would be a crazy person. :( Ofc i don't consider killing babies is heroic, but in God's fucked up game it sounds like a heroic thing to do, to kill those babies and prevent them for sinning and going to hell. Technically the baby killer completely remove the chance of someone going to hell to 0% if this was how the game system work like this guy said. Instant heaven who doesn't want that. I think your comments are absolutely brilliant. I do also think that this comes into account where mentally handicapped people and even people or other children who do not understand the concept of sin is it Genesis states will God not do what is right? Of course. He would never send to Hell those who do not understand the concept of sin again, infants, children to sit knowledge, I’m not sure it’s called the age of accountability any people use
For example, if I asked a three-year-old what is sin, he or she would generally believe not know he or she may know the difference between right or wrong, don’t touch the stove because it’s hot and it will hurt you but their understanding is limited to that sort of right or wrong behaviour. A child of that age, perhaps would not going to intentionally stab something to death circumstances where one might, but that’s going down a chain of psychological issues that is not in issue here. What we are discussing. I genuinely believe is about the knowledge of sin. Therefore, how can we say that an unborn infant has KNOWLEDGE of sin, no, and again with the severely mentally handicapped. Bless you

  • @NaggingThoughts
    @NaggingThoughts Рік тому

James 1:15 says that sin is the result of desire conceiving. In other words, being born a sinner doesn't actually make you condemned for sinning -- as alleged at 1:10 (without any scriptural substantiation). Like Adam & Eve who both desired to know good and evil & yet were not guilty of sin until after they ate the forbidden fruit, none of us are guilty of sin until the moment in which our desire to sin is conceived in an act of sin. This is corroborated by Romans 9:11 that explicitly confirms the unborn are incapable of doing anything good or bad.
James 2:17 indicates that this same principle applies in the opposite direction of saving faith as well. Saving faith is not born until the moment in which our faith is conceived into an act of faith. Therefore, babies are indeed innocent even though they were born sinners.
But regardless of what theological justification it takes to get there, the fact is that God is good and we can trust Him -- especially with our most vulnerable and beloved & if any of these suffer injustice, God will not be mocked and He will repay.

It doesn't seem God's judgement will be "one size fits all", even though ALL are sinful. Let's give God's judgements, righteousness and mercy at least as much credit as we do for ourselves when we question this issue. Even righteous Job was really more concerned with maintaining his integrity...than he was of God's integrity in his sufferings.

Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. Humans in every stage of development and life will have bad things happen to them. That is because Adam passed down imperfection to his children by breaking away from God's rulership.
Romans 5:12 That is why, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned
To pay off this penalty God sent his son to die. This releases all Adam's children from inheriting this stain of imperfection.
John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself." If we are no longer punished for our father's sins, why would a baby be considered sinful due to Adam and Eve? From what I understand, sin is a verb, it's actions we do that are against God. In Mark 7:20-23 it says "And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” Since a baby never had the opportunity to commit these sins I don't see why they would be considered sinful.

There are at least 2 specific scriptures that are clearly avoided in this fairly consistent Baptist argument re: age of accountability:
    1. Palm 139:16 "... in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them."
    2. Eph. 1:4 is one of the fundamental scriptures in the Reformed Theological view concerning election. "...even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him."
So, before the foundation of the world, He chose SOME for eternal life in Christ and others He did NOT. Logically, those who were NOT chosen to eternal life (before the earth's foundation) would be sinners already "condemned."

The other issues is, when all the Canaanite nations were destroyed by Joshua, even children n babies were killed, what do you make of that. I think the situation dictates, because when jeroboam sent his wife to a prophet, the prophet said that that particular child will die as he won't share in jeroboams punishment.
Finally in 1 Corinthians 7 Paul says that the children are sanctified or set apart due to the believing parents faith.
While God will do the tight thing, I think our comfort should be limited to Christian infants. I don't think we can make this a general rule. Uts a sad topic but God is sovereign and we can't know everything

Single predestination refers to unconditional election. Double predestination refers to election and reprobation. Reprobation is the doctrine that God predestined the damned to hell. The damned are punished for sin, but that alone is not why God predestined them to hell inasmuch as everyone is (or will be or would be) a sinner. That, in a nutshell, is what the terms mean. Freewill theists object to both. I don't think double predestination raises any pastoral concerns. But it's best to address one question at a time.

    • @unexpectedTrajectory
      @unexpectedTrajectory 7 років тому +1

John Baker I think, though of course some will disagree!, that it makes little sense to talk about single predestination. Single predestination would say that God predestined (chose before the world began) certain idividuals to life (salvation in Christ) but did not predestine others to death (condemnation/damnation.) I would argue that in choosing not to appoint them unto life and subsequently regenerating them, God chooses to appoint them unto death. This does not mean that He condemns them arbitrarily, but perfectly justly for their sin, nor that He keeps them from believing, but leaves them to their unbelief. I affirm double predestination, but also believe it is proper and consistent to say that God is entirely responsible for man's salvation, but man is entirely responsible (morally) for his own condemnation. God held none back.
See, for a very few references, Matthew 11:25-30 and Romans 9, especially 6-23. Consider also God's relationship with Israel whereby He chose one people to reveal Himself to, while largely leaving all other people's/nations to themselves and only general revelation (Romans 1:19-23.) I don't mean that His choice of Israel is identical to predestination because not all Israel believed, but it shows plainly that God chooses freely and graciously to interact with different people in different ways, showing more grace to some while leaving others to themselves (that is, to their own darkened hearts which reject the testimony of creation ala Romans 1.)
Some pastoral concerns are that many object to these doctrines as perhaps hard hearted, unfair, "not what my God would do," or contrary to their understanding of certain other scriptures. It is essential to declare this with clarity as plain Biblical teaching, showing God's perfect justice and the perfect and necessary freedom of His grace. God is not required by justice to be gracious, nor to show equal measures of grace - that's the very nature of grace. This ought to be a doctrine of comfort to believers, never of discouragement to unbelievers. Back to Matthew 11, Jesus said, "ALL who are weary and heavy laden..." and was not disingenuous in so saying. any view of predestination that limits the extent of the free offer of the gospel below the scriptural offer is deformed. Keep in mind also God elsewhere said He takes no delight in the death of the wicked. "Willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known..." NOT "delighting in the death of the wicked and the damnation of sinners"
I hope this was helpful, and that you find it to say no more than scripture will support. You can readily find much fuller treatments of the matter, though, of course, views differ.

Chris Brenan Re: your 1st parag., 2nd sentence.
All are dead in trespasses and sins as per Rom. 5:12 ; Eph. 2:1-3. We are all condemned into that spiritually dead state through unbelief as per John 3:18. We don't have to be predestined to condemnation -- it's the universal condition of inheriting Adam's corruption that leaves us spiritually disconnected from God, unable to know Him or even seek Him as per Psalm 14:1-3 ; 53:1-3 ; Rom. 3:10-18. There is a Divine predestination to save some through the mercy of God as per Rom. 9:15,16,18 but human condemnation is a result of God's promise to execute Divine justice for disobedience as per Gen. 2:17. That justice, resulting in death, fell on both Adam and Eve through their transgression. It would seem to be a stretch to affirm that God's justice bringing condemnation emanates from a predestinating decree rather than just His foreknowledge.

John Baker: No one is predestined. Everyone has a free choice. Else, these scriptures make no sense.

Matthew 18:2  So calling a young child to him, he stood him in their midst 3 and said: “Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become as young children, you will by no means enter into the Kingdom of the heavens.

The problem with this is logically we don’t operate in a world where sin or punishment is inherited... if a murder goes to jail for 100 years and dies before his time you don’t take his offspring to finish out the sentence.

We inherit the propensity to sin in our nature (wich shows as we grow old), but not the guilt of past generations.

    Deuteronomy 1:39
I think babies are innocent, even with Paul’s colorful hyperbolic language of babies being sinful. Of course they’re innocent.
God is clear that he looks out the most for those who truly are weak and helpless in society. Children are among the top of that list.

If God take Enoch who has the mental capacity to speak, walk, talk and understand right from wrong to heaven with out dying. Then God would not send a baby who can't talk, think walk or anything who hasn't had a chance to come to Christ. Yes we are born in sin but God's Grace is WAY more sufficient than we could ever imagine.
