    The whole fear you're mentioning about "I don't see anyone who looks like me" broke my heart, man. I'm glad you're out there doing your thing. Keep it up, you've got great content and are super helpful. Your whole design hustle as well is super inspiring. Much love, my friend.

    5:30 a comedian doesn’t get on stage and wait for someone to heckle him or say something to him before he starts his routine. He performs to get the crowd involved.

    Thank you so much for this.. I've seen so many video's, podcasts, read articles and even books, but at the end of the day - none of it was able to effeciently break it to down to the fundamentals the way that you have. You really just opened my eyes. When you comedically said "YA BORING" is when it ironically hit me the hardest. I know how entertaining I CAN be, how hype/energetic/positive I CAN be, but it's never consistent because I rely too heavily on getting my energy from whoever is currently in chat. So I'll have peaks in my stream where there's 20+ people, chat moving fast, lots of different conversations going on, lots of interaction and jokes being made, I'll be responding and answering every message in great detail with lots of excitement, but then when a few people have to head out for work/school, a couple start to lurk, a couple go get food, it starts to slow down a bit/get quiet, and then.. so do I.. That's my problem I guess I just never really admitted it. People tell me how much I mean to them as a streamer and the positive impact I've had in their lives regardless of how many viewers I don't get, and I lost sight of that. I forgot what's really important and why I started streaming to begin with. I just want to help people. I just want anyone that's felt as alone as I have to know that they don't have to feel that way anymore, and I want viewers to be able to be themselves without judgement. I'm going to take what I learned and apply it to my streams starting tonight. Again, thank you so much for this. It had a big impact on me.

    that how i feel as a black streamer , i figure most people wouldnt watch me , I see a other black streamers but they play madden nba 2k cod etc ,but I like stuff like JRPS SKYRIM indes and other things, I want a diverse amount of viewers, I know it can be done but its harder ( its like the difficulty on the south park game lol).... because people have preconceived notion about people like me based on what I look like in my thumbnail and don't come in to get to know me...

    I'm definitely guilty of the numbers game. My viewership dropped from 8 to 3 at the beginning of the year and I started panicking, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. ^_^;
    I'm going to work on not looking at the numbers during stream and looking at the vods after stream.

    The point about "not seeing anyone look like me" was exactly why I didn't want to stream at first. I thought to myself " well if no one that is a top streamer looks like me, what chance do I have at success?" I have ditched that mindset and just fuckk it. I'm gonna do it. Its been hard to do school, work, and stream consistently but its a grind for a reason.

    This is very true, numbers can hurt a lot especially when it takes over your life. I always try to treat my streams as if we all are hanging out and if the viewer wants to support the channel, even just by sharing it or just hanging out is more than enough! A small amount goes a long way. The little things in my opinion mean more.

    Love the videos! . In my opinion I think people think to much about stuff like this and need to just do it. You get caught up in procrastinating and just watching video after video and overload in to much information. Just like the " how to get money online" courses. My friends told me to start twitch and I didn't even know what twitch really was. All I play is modern warfare. I spent a day to watch videos about what twitch was and how to set up obs. I seen in a video to not stream overstated games. I really love playing modern warfare and told myself I don't care that's what I'm going to stream because my goal is to have fun start a community. I didn't even know you could make money on twitch as well. So I thought to myself that will come later that I'm working full time and I'll set a schedule for streaming so it doesn't feel like a job or anything. I spent about $1k on equipment like lights, a webcam and stuff to due it right. And started. I thought I would be camera shy but I wasn't. The first month I reached affiliate and I'm on my 2nd month of streaming and I have around 260 followers and average of 10 viewers. I just be myself. I show gratitude towards the vewiers I have and have fun and I do the opposite of what everyone else is doing but i don't think about it. That's how you stick out. Be yourself!

    it's long but there's a lot to say to a 30min video, okay (but in summary, it's just me agreeing with you) :b
    delaying streaming is probably one of the biggest 'mistakes' i have made in relation to it. there was always an excuse (didn't have the fancy equipment, have anxiety, children aren't cooperating at bed time, etc etc), but the thing is, there's always goin' to be something to improve your stream and the 'right' community will find you and support you for you. they won't care if you are using an i3 processor laptop or an i5 built pc ;b (my start to present setup). i had a good following then as i do now. (most) people come and stay for the person, not their level of fanciness.
    i have been going through old vods (started in October) and finally getting around to learning how to edit; and my goodness, the first month's worth is either boring or the audio was wack (echo, buzzing, robotic, etc). the audio is probably my biggest stressor, more than being entertaining, more than making the time. fun fact, windows updates are rude :b.
    i despise seeing people saying their goal is to hit affiliate/saying their sub-follower goal. that's not to say don't have the goal. i have the goal too (grow period lol), but displaying it comes off a bit...narcassistic..to me anyways.
    i also despise very basic about me's or empty ones. even better, when their profile is only a donate panel -.- that's not to say don't have one but it shouldn't be the only thing nor the full focus.
    content creation is definitely not a beauty contest. so many people that i watch are not your 'stereotypical' model status; but they are funny and good people; and i'm one of those people that find beauty in the eyes/smile/laugh anyways of all people

    People put the word "entertaining" on too high a pedestal. They think it means only naturally charismatic or funny or witty. There are many forms of entertainment. Even the trolls that spam fake donations are there to be entertained, albeit at the streamer's expense. Entertainment can take more than a few forms. It can also be educational, thought-provoking, or simply conversational. What it all essentially boils down to is having the courage to speak out your mind and let your own vision of your streaming self come out. We don't naturally want to be like others, we have the most genuine fun when we can be who we want to be. So, say what you want. Allow yourself to say something wrong, even. That's fine. As long as you don't hurt people and behave as though the people on your stream are in the same room with you, then you should be fine.

  • @5puddles
    @5puddles 3 роки тому

    Speaking about the numbers game. I usually average about 6 views and my average views is going up. I do look at the numbers at the end of every stream but i do this to see where people left the stream. i go back through the VOD and see if i was being quiet or talking about something that was not interesting, i find doing this helps me improve and become a better streamer. BUT! I dont think this is something everyone should do, if you get down/ demotivated because your numbers are going down the best thing you can do is not look!
    Dont think of streaming as a "grind" just enjoy yourself! 👍

    Hey gael I got a question do you have video oyo layout on how you steam like you mic, monitors, how your connected to twitch and play the games the same time and also looking at you chat. I see alot of twitch content users and it's all different. I had the same issue trying to do this on youtube. I'm not trying to make money. I rather just enjoy the game and play the game and have people watch. Atm I just use my phone for everything and I rather not show my face as well.

    I love this advice :)
    although I might never show my face, XD no, it's not because I think I'm ugly, just because I don't want to.
    I'd love to do an avatar thing, like v-tubers, I've always had this kinda image I want for a character of mine, one of it wearing a mask. I've always been inspired by the V for vendetta movie.
    Hidden by a mask, I think it adds a kind of mystery :), I don't write comments that often (like rarely XD), but yeah thx. :D

    My $50 suuuuper shitty second monitor was a lifesaver. Before I was doing it while watching the stream on my tablet to see the chat. Having that second monitor made streaming a BREEZE. But I was also streaming BEFORE I had two monitors. Before I had a freaking desk. It can be done, it sucks for you, but the only way it impacts the stream itself is if you are incapable of windowing your game and you have no secondary source to use (phone, tablet, etc). But yeah, if you can afford a shitty, cheap second monitor, absolutely get one, haha.

    It really upsets me that ppl feel they can’t put themselves out there because of race gender abilities etc... I’m glad that the world is slowly changing to know that none of this stuff matters! A long way to go but we r getting there. I relate to the looks thing- I went from being a model to gaining weight during lockdown last year (8hrs a day of manual labor ending makes a difference apparently lol) and I lost my front tooth! But I just decided u no what starting scared and full of excuses is so much better then never starting. And it means I get footage of a glow up as I get my teeth fixed over time!

    Any streamer here with 50+ views daily. What's the number 1 tip you could give to a new streamer?
    Aa far as tiktok/youtube. How many posts should be posted weekly?
    I see that it's important. Is it trial and error for a beginner video editor?

      The more you post the more chances you'll have of being discovered. The higher the quality the more people will stay. It's up to you to find a balance.

    Exactly. Earning your followers, earning your viewership is 700 times more rewarding anyway.
