When you put the cooked on pan on the stove with the boiling water, try adding a spoonful of baking soda. That helps break things up. Another great product is barkeepers friend. A sprinkle of that, a squirt of dish soap and a wet sponge with an abrasive side will do the trick as well. I love the idea of blending the cottage cheese to make a high protein veggie dip.

So much wasted salad. It was the onion all along! No more onion for me. :)
Great to hear a bit about your mom. I hope she is well.
I enjoy just hanging out with you in the kitchen.

The blue lid container, when I make things for freezer meals,I put cling wrap down then the lid.I haven't had freezer burn,or anything just double protection.I also double seal my food saver bags.I love those containers, I bought mine from QVC.

For my enamel pans I toss a dishwasher tab in and fill with hot water, let it soak an hour or so and it usually rinses right out without scrubbing. Even with the stuck on burned bits.

In case no one else commented, at my Costco, they sell the cooked chicken likely cleaned from unsold roasted chickens 😅 and it’s a lot of meat for a good price. It’s packaged in one big lump vacuum sealed so would need to be repackaged for the freezer.

I appreciate your honesty I have cast iron pans and I avoid using them I thought I was the only person doing the wrong things with my pans and now I see others go through the same things but don’t say anything your videos help me to add or substitute more heather chooses thank you my friend 🙏🏾

All that looked good! I like the ranch cottage cheese! I been grabbing it instead of chips! Even if I don't loose weight with this choice. For sure it's a healthier choice. Every plate is 👍👍

One reason I like your food prep videos is hearing you talk. Inspiring, motivating and gives me ideas that would work for me. The day my large cooking spoon (metal, long handle w/wood grip) just broke as I was stirring chili was a very sad day for me. It couldn't be fixed. It was very old. It took me a long while to adjust to not having it. lol Whenever I make a Greek salad like yours, I always add (canned, rinsed and drained) chickpeas. A little more protein and fiber plus I just like the taste and texture of chickpeas. Do you shop at IKEA? I bought a cheap ($1.99 US) frother from there and for the few times I want a foamy drink, it's worked just perfectly for me. Try cooking plain old vinegar in a pan that has burn stuff on it. It works like those fancy chefs who deglaze pans with wine. lol Love the video. Thank you for sharing!

I do shop at Ikea. I have a lot of dishes from there and love them. Chickpeas?? LOL I wish I like them. Maybe I will give them more of a chance since they good for protein and fibre.

I hope it is ok to share my thoughts with you, it really shows that you are trying really hard .. the last cooking videos are.. I don't know..
I didn't get why you love the pans if they are so hard to maintain. Just a general tip.. onion should be saute alone and only when the sugars starts you add the pepper...
Don't mean to hurt your feelings it's just less than your usual videos.. ❤️

    • @APeekInside
      @APeekInside  4 місяці тому +1

I really like the way that these pans evenly heat up compared to any other ones I have used and the enamel covered ones are actually easier to maintain in my opinion to any of the regular old cast iron pans I have tried. I was doing all of this in a hurry and that's why it wasn't my best results. I have always said I am not here to share perfection but some of the realities that happen in the kitchen and this was one of those times.

I love these videos. Your journey is similar to my own in that I'm trying to change my relationship with food and find a good balance of common sense, moderation, and general healthy eating. One thing I've changed is to not get too strict with my diet and approach it as a lifestyle. It has to become automatic and habitual without too much guilt. It has to taste good and be filling. Good job, Darlene!

This is 100% what I am doing. I am doing a lifestyle change and not a diet that I always failed at. I had a huge non-scale victory this morning and it was exactly the motivation that I needed. I will share soon. Have a great day.

I totally agree with you about having favourite go to utensils. It’s funny, I have a Tupperware pastry mat that is on it’s last legs that I have had for years. I bought a new one a few years back but I just know it won’t be the same so I stick with the old one. Maybe one day I will try it. Lol

Baking soda and vinegar paste should take the black off your pan. Rub it in good and let it sit.

Hunter always skulking around when there’s food nearby 😂 He reminds me of my sweet food obsessed little poodle who I sadly had to say goodbye to last week 😢 He was 15 and not well. Looking forward to tuning in for your coffee chat update and thanks for sharing those nutrition labels. I find that helpful ❤

I just bought Dawn power wash for the 1st time. But I bought it for a stain remover for the laundry. I sprayed 2 stains yesterday & will toss them in the wash today. I hope it works! For years I've used Shout spray or the Dawn dishwashing liquid (depending on the stain) but I thought I may be able to simplify to this one product if it works. Have you tried it for laundry? xoxo

If you will use a dishwasher pod or dishwasher powder sprinkled over the stuck on spots in the pan, then add just enough water to cover the detergent and bring it to a boil, then simmer it for a little bit adding water as needed. The residue will lift off pour down disposal and scrub the pan. Repeat as needed. It might help if you use an oil cooking spray next time, so it will not be as hard to clean.

I am really enjoying your meal prep ideas. My husband is Type 1 diabetic now and I appreciate you showing the nutritional info as we have to calculate the carbs for how much insulin he has to take before every meal, which has become a task, but it’s a learning curve for sure. Again, I think you are doing a fantastic job. There isn’t much hands on info out there to help with meals, but you seem to be on top of the process. I also appreciate you sharing what containers you are using for portioning👍👩‍🍳🤗Keep up the good work!!! From Southern Ontario ;)
