Lovely, I remember the good old days when many cafés still had arcade games. How many drinks I had when my local café installed Flicky, back in the mid-Eighties!
This budget game has been included on every Genesis compilation released by Sega since the PS2 era as I recall...I also seem to remember it having been a regular staple on the Sega Channel.
At first, I thought this looked like a Master System game.
… And then I saw the Maser System version.
I had this game around 20 years ago when prices for complete-in-box Sega Genesis games were still cheap on eBay. I don’t have it anymore, but I loved it! I found it to be a charming and very addictive game.
I didn't exactly grow up playing this one. I didn't even know it existed until I was in college when I played it on the Sega Smash Pack for PC. Still, the game grew on me and became a favorite arcade game of mine, right along with Mappy.
My enjoyment of this game is also probably why I like Sonic 3D Blast too, since it does have a similar gameplay mechanic as Flicky.
Fun Fact: Flicky is the smallest ever ROM cart ever released on the Mega Drive/Genesis.
Always enjoyed Flicky, on any platform.
Remember being 11 or 12 and getting this for ~$10 @ KB Toys on a random weekday - turned out to be a lot of fun, remember it being a "good deal for a fun game" 🙂
Reminds me SO much of Mappy. Wonder which game came first and who ripped off who?
Reminds me of a cross between Bomb Jack (and platform) and Teddy Boy (Sega Master System)
Good video and review of this game! I remember this game! It a good fun, different kind of game for the Sega Genesis!
Flicky is simple, like Zoom, but I like Flicky a lot more. I think the game play on Flicky is pretty standard for an arcade game, until you smack the tiger cat with a hammer and it tumbles off the stage. Good review. Pitfall Mayan Adventure is more inventive, but can leave something to be desired if you want tight control.
Nice Video ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Retro Sega Games !
I was under the impression that flicky was a exclusively sonic the hedgehog character
Kinda shock flicky has a Sega genesis version
It's basically mappy
Where can I find your theme song?
At the beginning of my videos 😉 I made it myself when I started my channel. The full version isn't much longer and just repeats at the end fading out.
where else can I find and hear it on the interwebs?
