    The day I started truing in the last 10% of supersonic region my trajectory has been more accurate. With most bullets into the subsonic region, like accurate down to Mach 0.8 ish. With my 6.5 cm that’s 1950 yards and further depending on the day and the environment. Thanks so very much for this video!!!

    I’m so excited to finally be able to afford one of the 5700 elite’s, can’t wait, I know that thing will do it all and I’ll be so confused for a while until I figured it all out, a great start is all the UA-cam videos people are putting out there, thanks 🙏 to all

    Since MV changes with temperature change - isn't it better to true the BC instead of MV ?

    So for us NRL22 guys, we should true at .9 Mach? What’s a good trying distance for 22lr

    Thank you for the video. Can you discuss how to true if you don't have the necessary range? Say 500 meters max for a 7.62?

      You can calibrate at shorter ranges but with some caveats. If you are still seeing differences between point of aim and point of impact and have already checked your inputs etc. go ahead and MV calibrate at the longest range you have available, just remember not to trust data from that short range calibration at longer distances than what you used to calibrate. If you have a chance to shoot at longer ranges, re-do your MV calibration at that longer range.

    I just bought my first Kestrel.. Im waiting for it to come in the mail and I cant wait..... I am sooooo excited about it... I got the 5700 sportsman model. I couldnt afford the elite. Maybe next year I will be able to... Anyway,,,, Im going to have to listen to Todd again to really understand what he is saying here... I was under the impression that the 5700 would not calculate from sonic to trans and subsonic but the 5700 elite would.. If that is the case, arent I limited what I should be truing my Kestrel to anyway? As far as distance I mean..
    Hypothetically,,,, Lets say my target is at 750 yards, but my 5.56 round goes subsonic at 600 yards.. My 5700 sportsman wouldnt calculate for that transition from 600 to 750, so that would mean that I am limited to 600 yards with the ballistics calculator and should be truing within 10% of 600 yards and know my limitations.??

      The 5700 or 5700 Sportsman can only be trued in the supersonic region. This does not mean that you cannot shoot into transonic and subsonic regions however. The issue becomes if you are off in the transonic and subsonic regions, there isn't a way to "true" your bc in these regions without having an Elite.

      So, according to your answer, I was correct in my assumption.. But with that said,, wouldnt the Kestrel 5700 sportsman still give me a firing solution to the 750 yard mark, as to my scenario above but it just wouldnt be true'd to that distance. Am I correct in that assumption?

      Thank you appreciate the support! Yes, you would still get a firing solution at 750 yards and beyond. It is possible that the solution is correct at 750 yards as well. But if it is not, you don't have the ability to true it with a CAL DSF in transonic or subsonic. So yes, your assumption is correct.
