On my second trip to Prague I visited the first bar (Pivnce U Kata) and after taking a seat and getting an awesome pint I noticed that no other than Yanek was sitting at the table next to me!! I lived in LA for almost three years and saw many Hollywood celebs but I was genuinely star struck 😂. I had a chance to chat with Yanek before Honza showed up and he was as friendly and engaging as he is in their videos. Before they were about to leave I pulled the waiter to one side and asked him to put a beer for each of them on my bill. Next thing I realize, the waiter had told them of my request and instead Yanek paid for all THREE of my beers. Totally not what I wanted but an awesome gesture. Keep up the great work, guys.
Beer for 2€ is the scam! I prefer 1€ beer in czech countryside! :-D
Seems still pretty deserted and nothing like it used to be with tourist hoards everywhere!!!
Now you will meet just locals or Czechs from other parts of the country and from foreigners just some expats or exchange students.. that's all.
I am from Denmark i came to Prague for the first time in 1995 and are going there a few times each year. This is my favorite city in Europe. I got so many great memories :) I remeber living in Ujezd in an old badminton hall on a hill with a 100 other backpackers just next to a place called club ujezd and a bagel shop, we used to spend 1 month each summer at that place.
Am I going crazy or is that only two places?
U Kata and Kuchyn.
Was something cut?
Yes I also found that the Pivnice U Svateho Mikulase has been cut out of this video? Is this pub not 'honest' anymore? An explanation would be most appreciated 🤞
Why would people dislike?
Any reason..valid one?
Yes, because they're ass.....s !!!
Probably all those scamamers that were busted by them give all those dislikes 😂
Usually a misclick on a phone browser.
There is only 1 dislike, so it was probably just a missclick
You have the ask the 1 downvote, probably the pubowner not mentioned in this video :P
imagine creating the honest stamp of approval. which is added to the window of the pub etc...
This is something Janek has to do. Epic idea!
I can already see businesses glueing them themselves to seem trustworthy
I love Czech beer 🍺. But they pour too much foam in it. 50/50.
No They dont the bubbles are gonna pop and its gonna be half litr as u asked for, let it stand for a minute after u buy it so u can be sure, there 0,5l Mark on every beer glass
Hey guys I have a suggestion for u . Can make a video basis on best place or hotels for travelers to stay, from where everything is near by . I hope u read this message
Nice idea 👍
I miss this city. The best I've ever been to. Can't wait to come back.

Kuchyn was one of the best experiences I had in Prague! A must visit.
Politicians and beer oh my! Wish more cities would be like Prague. I'll see you again.
have you ever tried Cardiff?
Kuchyn is back! One of the best and most reasonably prized places in the city
Hey, cool backpack! Is this a preview of the Honest Guide Backpack you promised us??!! Very glad to see all the restaurants operational and the city opening back up again. Can't wait to see more of Prague in the Summer!
In Prague 7 I have been to a great pub with beer for €1. Also in Prague 4 there is a beer garden with beer for €1,25.
Was it beer or pilsen?
@@ondrejsoroka8170 Klášter and Kozel.
Can you provide the names of the places? 🙂
@@pavlos816 opposite side of Florenc station. Urquell for 39 Kč.
Yeah I went to "Cooking" last August. Good Schnitzel! Also the monastery at the top serves great beer and goulash! I was lucky to have visited when I did (from the UK). Very few tourists and the food tour was great! So many more things I could say about this city! I will be back! Love it!
I love "U Kata". I found it on my own by pure chance on my first trip to Prague some 12 years ago. This was the place I first tried Hermelin and Utopenec as they didn't have any other appetizers, besides packaged chips, that day as it was quite late in the evening.
WOW! Welcome to Prague! Welcome to the beer.
If about the view, than in my humble opinion the Klub/restaurant Lavka has an unbeatable view of both the Charles Bridge and Hradcany Castle at the same time, goes for their backyard outdoor sitting though....beer was 75 CZK 2 years ago, probably cheaper now because of tourist deficit....
75 crowns for beer is rip off.
@@Hunter-zn2hx it was before the corona crisis, might be much lower now....
Beer at the Old Square was over a hundred, that was a rip off.... 😬
I love your videos, I love Prague and I love beautiful country. My first visit to Prague was in 1986, it was a hole different world. Regards from Spain.
Those were the good ol` days when one could drink oneself out of one`s mind in Prague for the equivalent of 5 € (back then, the 0,5 l glass of *Urquell* cost no more than 25 cents in today`s money).
@@stefanhernold345 Exactly, I have the very same memory! The buildings were all grey, few people in the streets. The police took us apart in their office to intimidate us, since we were laughing in public. And just like you say, the best beer in the world for almost free! Praque always fascinated me, still love it.
The first pub you show to us guys is the first pub i visited to Prague. Very honest place indeed. Thank you guys for your amazing work, you help us travelers a lot. Big fan!!
I know the beer is cheap, but why do they give so much froth? Is there a measure on the side of the glass to designate the amount?
Can't wait to visit Prague again. Thank you for continuing the honest guide!
Just for fun should review U Fleckú. U Dvou Srdci was my favorite in 1990 ( Malá Strana). I was in another malá strana pub and Václav Havel walked in.
Additionally I can mention tons of Czech pubs where you can get 1 liter of beer for less than the price of half a liter of what you mentioned
yea where?:D any names? I m going in Prague in august and september
Please share my friend
Check out U zavesenyho kafe / Divadlo pokracuje. One of best pubs in Prague.
This video made me crave Czech beer with some delicious Czech food.😋😩
On my way to the airport during my last time in Prague, I told my uber driver that I was flying back to Chicago and I was pleasantly surprised to learn from him that Chicago has one of the largest Czech population outside of the Czech Republic and true enough I found some Czech restaurants there. They’re not as good as the food in Czech Republic but I still go to Chicago occasionally whenever I miss Czech food and Czech beer!🍺
I’ve already been to Prague twice but I would love to come back there again one day to eat delicious Czech food, drink a ton of Czech beer, then go for long walks around the beautiful city with my beer belly😂
Just came back from Prague, and beer at St Mikulas is still 41 CZK 😀👍🏻🍻. Greetings from Poland
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam :) Every video is always so interesting. Would you guys ever consider doing some videos in Czech? Or even adding some Czech subtitles? I grew up in Prague and watch these videos to keep up with what's going on there since moving to Canada. I thought it would be really cool to also be able to practice some Czech through the guides you offer, but I know it's probably a lot of extra work!
In fact, the guys do have a channel with related content in Czech. It is called 'Kluci z Prahy'.
@@АндрейП-у1ю I didn't know this, thank you so much!
If you are older or for some reason dont want to walk up to the castle take tram 22 to the backside of the caste and walk downhill to the start or just take tram 22 back again. Senior(over 70) can use the public transportation free of carge, just bring your passport.
Btw první hospoda, kdo poznal?

Happy to see you out and about doing your thing again. "8 minutes" walk now will surely become 60 minutes again once all the tourists begin to flow back to Praha and the prices will once again rise to meet such a joyous occasion.
The prices? Not really. All the places (not the new one obviously) had these reasonable prices even when the city was full of tourists. That's why Janek recommended them.
Thank you for inspiring me to seek out scammers when i travel ... you are doing gods work sirs.
The sound cuts out at 5:01.
Yes for me too
As does the subtitles! :(
I miss Prague
Thanks, that's really cruel. I used to go to Prague 4x per year for work :-(
I know a couple of places near I P Pavlova but they are probably closed because they're indoors..
The open terrace up on top of the pub near Novometstska radnice tram stop is very pleasant when it's good weather. CZK 35-40
Looking forward to you hitting the 1M mark soon.
Czech beer best beer in the world
I'm glad that being a tourist i had been in 2 of this 3 places. It means i have a good eye :D :D :D
U Kata was one of my favorite places. Every time I visited Prague I visited this place. And even after I moved to Prague, I also did it. And this place can be still favorite, but... they have on more disadvantage, unfortunately. They tried to cheat on tourists. When we were there with my friends a couple of years ago, got beer and some food as well. Every piece of bread was counted in the final bill. Also, we asked if we can pay with euros, they tried to exchange 1 euro for 15 crowns. That was very unpleasant and inhospitable. Actually, from that time I haven't visited this place any more. It is very easy to lose reputation, and very hard to get it back. So, good luck U Kata, you lost several former and possible future clients.
First thing I told my friend when he wanted to visit CZ was to either pay with card or get CZK. It's because not many businesses are legally allowed to exchange money or hold multiple currencies in their register, so it's possible the waiter was literally breaking the law letting you pay him in Euro and paying the business out of his pocket. But it was still a very unfair exchange, yes.
God bless you and
your family
Makes me wanna go back
Perfectly explained and so much informative. 👍
I hope I can visit Prague again in 2022
U kata has very bad comments in Google
PANR has tuned in.
Love Prague, love your videos but my god you serve half a beer like that in nz and you would have problems 🤣🤣
then look at it again, especially the place near the castle they showed, as they served "half a beer" as u say, before they cam to the place to tdrink it, the beer was almost full, thats because foam, and especialyy foam of good beers is very dense mix of beer and air, as the bubbles pop up, u will get exactly 0.5 litres as u ordered, there is even 0.5l mark on every glass and the law says that u have to server every beer in its original glasses.
I am from Liverpool and missing the Czech people and Prague. hopefully will be back in the Czech republic soon having a fantastic Czech beer .
I keep trying to pause the video at 1.08 something pops up when he says mayors office! But I can’t get it! I loved Prague filmed my first video there
is there any good places to go at the edge of the city? Beacause you always star the video on the city center don't you wanna show it or isthere just nothing at the edge of the city?
Hi, there are hundreds of places like that. We always go to the best place nearby according to ratings on Google maps, and it never disappoint us. (Sorry for bad English 😅)
@@aveemoller8614 No your english is great mine is bad, anyway thanks for the reply now i get it
You can find one video on his channel.
Hi, I really love your videos. And I am curious, do you have any recommendations about art galleries or museums in Prague? Which ones are worth a visit etc.
I would say all of the National Museum buildings are interesting in some way, mostly the Old building at Wenceslas Square. You can check them all at www.nm.cz/en
Most of them are worth visiting, I'm saying most of them as I don't include the small privat tourist traps calling them museums in the central tourist areas....but the state run ones, definately....
In 1994 I was in Neratovice which is a city 30 mins from Prague. I paid 2 kr which is about 35 cents for 0.5 liter of fresh cold beer.
Fingers Crossed. I will be there in October.
We are hoping for a visit in September. We were supposed to visit last June/July but that obviously did not happen. I hope you get your visit too!
You forgot to mention, how much does cost the beer in the last place you have been?
57 CZK / 2.24 €
Dude.....yes, and I did say DUDE!!!! 2 Euros ~ 2.12 US Dollar (at least that's what Google says). In the States, if a tavern served beers for 2 bucks each (at least here in WA), it would get mobbed. The crowds would line up for three blocks!
I had a beer with you in the second place you mention here....😃.....two summers ago....
I saw... only 2 pubs? It seems that Pivnice U Svatého Mikuláše that I see on the map wasn't mentioned... I'll try it out when I get there.
hi, can u show the local malls, were people can get ACTUALLY cheap bere, if there is any.. since 2 euros for 500ml.. common :D it might be "cheap" for e beer in a pub, but it's not actually cheap, for example i pay about 1,2 euro for a beer out in a normal place, and from the shop, like a can fof 500ml tuborg for example, is less then 1 euro. But If I really want to drink, or what I normally drink is 2,5liter beer, variety of sortiemnts from shop, for about 1,80 euro.
So this is what i want to know, can I actually drink CHEAP in Prague, as in if I go to 1st supermarket and get 2,5liter of beer bottle for about 2 euro?
Prague is the best City in central Europe 👍🙏Nazdravi 🍻
Tourists .. please find something about czech craft beers ( just in Prague about 70 brewery) and support them! Not these factory shitbeers.
At up & down Club Near the Main Station you get tap Beer for 1,50€/37czk
I’m at Pidnice U kata right now. Pilsner is 55 crowns. That is $2.22 USD. Great beer
I did NOT know that you guys have 2 channels ua-cam.com/users/KlucizPrahyvideos
My favorite beer in the world is in Czech Republic 🇨🇿 🍻🍻🍻🍻
So while Netflix goes. Bitcoin climbs lol. Now I say crypto is better than stock investing in crypto should be in every wise individuals list.
I will go to Prague in end of July.
Jesus 2 fuckin years of rona I'm gonna be so fuckin wasted 😂❤️
You Czech have nice beer even if we bavarians had to show u how to make it.
There's a frame out of place at the end of the second 1:09, I thought it would be an easter egg with the mayor's pic... disappointed :// xD
what i dont like about prague restaurants/pubs is that they have Pilsner everywhere. It's so boring. I like pubs with menu of craft beers, lagers, ales, sours, ipas, neipas.
Just returned from a fantastic break in Prague. Spent most of the time looking for Janik (and Valerie the guide from another channel). No luck. Went to all three pubs, U Kata was our go to after a days walking and to watch the football. The barman in Tankova Pivnice(?) knew Hansa. We mentioned Honest Guide hoping for a discount. Did the same at Kuychen, but got a blank look. Thanks for the review. We have visited many pubs on our two visits and these were among our faves. My wife ws calling Janik names after a trip to Lokal was cancelled due to high volume of customers. Quote, "Bloody Honest Guide, telling everyone about this place". We still love Prague though.
Meanwhile in Sweden, 6 € for a beer at a pub
Might be worth to know that the exchange place by U Kata doesn't take cards either. Luckily i had already watched your ATM video B-)
Why so much head on the beer? Honest question.
It helps the taste! We'll explain everything about it in a special episode. There are different way to pour the beer, you can get it like this (it's called hladinka), then there's mlíko (milk, mostly just foam, very soft taste, some locals have that in their pubs as their "opening" beer), then šnyt (small beer in a large glass). The whole history of the beer culture is interesting! :)
The British style (no foam) is called "čochtan".
If beer has foam on it, you know it's fresh brewed.
You should also mention your salary as compared to the average Czech person across the country and how your lifestyle is extremely different than locals.
I remember watching this video when it came out, and recently my Grandad was telling me about his time in University; I thought he only went to Brno, but Prague apparently too.
He was telling me about his favourite pubs around his school; which was then the Political School in Lichtensteinsky Palace. 3:51, I thought I recognised the area when I got him on street view from this video.
His favourite was U Kocoura back in the 1970s. Still tells me about how he used to watch the locals go in, have 25 Urquell and stumble out.
1:09 tam máte zapomenutý frame
I loved Prague....and you can drink beer from a proper pint glass!
Great advice as usual from Janek, thanks ,I'll be back asap 👍
My favourite restaurant in Prague is Michelska pivnice
I like the google maps which you have added in the description. 👍
The second pub over the bridge do not seem honest. If you speak english make sure you keep an exact record of what you order here. Not impressed with this pub.
It honestly seems weird for a teetotal to be watching a video about reasonably priced beer. I doubt the pub owners, barmen and barmaids would be happy with me if I ordered a kofola or a non-alcoholic beer (if they even stock them)
Most places will have either Birrel nealko / alcohol free beer or Kofola and most will have both!
@@danielstatham8031 Nice. Do the non-alcoholic beers taste somewhat similar to their alcoholic counterparts?
@@danielstatham8031 kofola is horrible! Hahauah can't drink that again
Can’t stop thinking how much you look like Juergen klopp
How did you go to malostranska namesti and not recommend u glaubicu it’s got even cheaper beer and some of the best czech food in the city I recommend the goulash or the knedliky
They’re opening up?? Was last there 4 years ago this week. Tourists from California USA can go? I want my pivo, prosim. 🍺
I got the first comment
The glass is half empty! I don’t want the foam! Can you ask in Prague to not have the foam?
Curious that a pub called U Kata serves their beer with a head...
2€?
Cant find beer for less than 7€ in Oslo, even as a local.
2€ is a pretty standard here. You can find even in the center of Prague beer for 1,5€ ;). In the suburbs even less for 1€ ;) Beer is cheaper than water here and that is true. Also it is one of the best in the world
Hi,
Where can I see the game against the UK tomorrow at @ for free? I‘m located in Germany.
