I'm not a scientist, but I've been using my time in quarantine to record and compare abstract observations I've noticed in Data Science metrics and this is easily the most helpful resource I could have found.

No problem! I'm trying to prove we can predict scheduled algorithmic updates on social media platforms and better anticipate what kind of behavior these new functions will exhibit...Since the companies themselves don't freely reveal that information

Hi, thank you so much for all of the videos that you shared to us. Those videos were really amazing, informative and useful to me and my colleagues. I just would like to ask because you presented the designs according to pre-experimental, experimental, and then the quasi-experimental. From that, I understand pre-experimental is done as a preparation for the true experiment... but is your presentation suggesting linear sequence of the designs? I understand, though, that Quasi-experimental is employed if making groups homogenous is impossible or challenging. Hope to hear from you. Cheers and thank you.. you are amazing!

No, there is no linear sequence implied :). It's more from least to greatest in terms of internal validity of the designs. I'm glad you found the videos helpful!

Hi, could I ask, if a study involves letting participant watch a video of a well dressed person, and a second video of a causally dressed person, and getting them to select which person they find more trustworthy.
If the hypothesis is that people would find the well dressed person more trustworthy,
Would this entire study be considered an experimental study?

Hi Aaron, it depends on the design that is chosen to answer that question of whether clothes make a difference in trustworthiness ratings. Oftentimes people will refer to what you wrote as an experiment but it really depends on whether or not the people in the study are randomly assigned to at least two groups. In this case, to make it an experiment, there would be two groups (randomly assigned) and one group would see the well-dressed person and the other would see the casually dressed person. Alternatively, there could be two groups (randomly assigned), where both groups see the two videos but maybe in a different order. I hope this helped :)!

My research is : the effectivity of using code-switching as a medium for teaching science to students.
This is a non-equivalent research because i will choose 2 classrooms. My problem is that i have a vague idea on what tool i will use to measure the effect of the intervention. Do you have any idea that might help me?

Hi Alexis. I'm not familiar with your topic but it sounds like you would need to give them a science test as your measure. If you have two classrooms and one is getting the program while the other isn't then that is quasi-experimental. You could choose to give the science test to both groups before and after the intervention. That would be ideal, otherwise the study could have a number of internal validity issues--see my video on that for more info :).

My apologies, but I teach at a School of Social Work, so I am not familiar with psychology texts. Thank you for liking these videos!
