Forlorn and bereft of nutrients, after 3 years of scouring the depths of UA-cam for a repast which would titillate my taste buds into incapacitation, I happened across Jack’s channel. Since my first visit i have undergone numerous, splendacious, gustatory journeys of culinary excellence. After devouring a delectable distribution of delicious dishes I have since fallen into a delirium of the senses that escapes articulation.

Seriously man, these video's are AWESOME
Hi, I love your recipe and just tried the lemon chicken recipe. I wanted to try this tomorrow to prepare for he upcoming week. However, I don't consume alcohol so was wondering what is a non-alcoholic substitute for shaoxing wine.
I think the large pan like yours is the secret to success in this recipe
It looks really good but what can you use for a substitute for oyster sauce if you are allergic?
I did the recipe; for me and family, even my 4 years old nephew that is very picky with food loved it. It took me more than one hour overall since I'm a real beginner for cooking but otherwise this is really delicious and worth the time spent. Arrowroot I could not find and I didn't use any alcohol but still it was excellent. thanks a lot!
you can use cornstarch instead of arrowroot
How did you know I was looking for a chow mein meal prep recipe this morning?
What sized pot did you use for the noodles and what sized pan did you use for the chicken? They look like really good sizes for meal prep, I want to get something around that size!
Alternate options for the wine and oyster sauce?
The only thing i would add is optinal sauce options, since things like Oyster sauce is hard to get where i live and i dont think i have an idea what it is supposed to do.
Hi! Is there a substitute for the Shaoxing wine, for those who can't consume alcohol? :)
I am sure this has been asked before, what is the pan you use to cook with? I did not see it on the affiliate site. Thx.
Huge fan. I’m a travel tech but try to meal prep with an Air Fryer for convenience. Any chance of meal prep with an Air Fryer??
I did not know bok choy could be frozen. I always thought any meat dish would only last up to 3 days in the fridge - nice surpise!
Always freeze if going past 3 days 🙏
What's the brand and name of the bowl shaped pot?
Question for you Jack, are you going to upload every recipe on your channel on to your website? I like the print option that allows you to alter serving amounts. Also like the layout of the recipes and the nutritional values section.
A vast majority of them yes. I’m planning a book soon too with some that may not go on the website. There’s a little plan happening which I don’t want to spill the beans on just yet but it will all come together.
@@ChefJackOvens Nice one! Good luck with the book.
Can i replace any of your chicken meal preps with turkey?
And can you do a vid on a turkey one pls
Great video! WHat kind of chef knifes are those and where do you find those black knivfestands?
Thank you! I use koi knives and the rack is also from koi. I have a link that says all my links in the description and it will take you straight to the site 🙏
Yes I would like to know where to get the prep container please
They’re from luvele - www.luvele.com/?ref=qNAC7JWq6gdhha there’s also a link in the description of every video 🙏
Fantastic recipe. Though it came out rather different for me. Especially the macros which is suprising to me given that the substitution I made should be lower in calories overall.
Substitution I made:
Shaoxing Wine -> Rice Vinegar
Chicken Thigh -> Chicken breast
Chinese Cabbage -> A lot more of it because no Bok Choy, Spring Onions
Carrots -> 150g
With the noodles I used (371Kcal/100g) this came out to 513 calories per serving with 6 huge servings total.
Next time I will add a lot more veggies. Probably double the carrots and more Chinese cabbage. Also might add some more sauce since my noodles seem to get a lot bigger than the ones in the video.
What's the pot you use for cooking the chicken?
Its essteele per vita
Hey Jack where did you get those stands for your knives?
Hey Nicholas, the whole sets are from koi knives. All the links are in the description 🙌
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you, sir!
Hey Jack, curious as to why you use chicken thighs as opposed to chicken breast? Thanks!
Chicken thigh has way more flavour, it cooks better and stays juicy compared to breast. Plus it’s good for reheating and can be cooked a lot longer if need be
@@ChefJackOvens Thanks for taking the time to reply! Much appreciated! Love the channel.
👍
jack i freaking love you. come to denmark and lets have a coffee and do cart wheels some day.
Would love to haha 🙌
now i just need access to all these ingredients lol
What can the peanut oil be substituted with?
Any neutral flavoured oil
what sized containers do you use? Im trying to get the same size just dont know what size to get
They’re 750ml 🙏
I like your meal prep containers .. where can I find those ???
They’re from luvele - www.luvele.com/?ref=qNAC7JWq6gdhha
@@ChefJackOvens Thank you !!
Can you use regular cabbage?
You’d sure can
I love these meal prep videos! Maybe some of them without meat? im not vegetarian or anything but u dont need chicken every day^^
Yes, you do. The body doesn't need carbohydrates, but it does need animal protein and fats. The majority of the world population doesn't get enough quality animal protein in their daily diet (statistical fact), despite "mainstream" news spouting the complete opposite. This is from Harvard University:
"Protein is essential to good health. The very origin of the word - from the Greek protos, meaning "first" - reflects protein’s top-shelf status in human nutrition. You need it to put meat on your bones and to make hair, blood, connective tissue, antibodies, enzymes, and more. It’s common for athletes and bodybuilders to wolf down extra protein to bulk up. But the message the rest of us often get is that our daily protein intake is too high- which statistics show just isn't true. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is a modest 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. The RDA is the amount of a nutrient you need to meet your basic nutritional requirements. In a sense, it’s the MINIMUM amount you need to keep from getting sick. To determine your daily protein intake, you can multiply your ideal body weight in pounds by 0.36 (ideal weight meaning healthy BMI for your height). For a 50-year-old woman who weighs 140 pounds and who is sedentary (doesn’t exercise), that translates into 53 grams of protein a day. Beef, poultry, and pork (as well as milk, cheese, and eggs) provide high-quality, highly bio-availibile complete proteins that contain all the essential amino acids the body requires. Many plant based foods- including whole grains, beans and other legumes, nuts and seeds, also provide protein, but they are an incomplete protein, lacking one or more of the 9 essential amino acids the body requires."
@@ruthnoya8424 bro.. U don't need to copy paste the whole page if u don't even understand it. U need protein yes. It is better to have all meat as protein source too, even tho it's not needed, but u don't need meat every single day that's just not what this paper or any paper in general is saying.
@@ruthnoya8424 u copy this whole article and it never says u need meat what is ur point?
3:39 can someone please tell me what type of pan this is/where to buy it?! It seems so versatile! It’s in almost every vid! Ty!
Did you ever find out? I have been searching everywhere for the exact same thing!
I never did 😭. I asked some friends/family and some suggested it might be a Dutch oven. But most look different from the one in the video :/
@@FriedFishTech Dang! Thanks for getting back to me anyway, if I ever find out I’ll let you know!
@@FriedFishTech Well sure enough right after my last reply I scrolled through comments on another video and he replied to somebody there saying that it’s from Essteele. The per vita range!
@@Thatguy15403 LOL amazing! Thanks so much! Looks like it is an aus company. Wonder if they have any shops in the US. Thanks!
Would you add ginger to this dish?
You definitely can 🙏
So you can use corn flour instead of arrowroot? Did you mean to say corn starch?
Corn flour is the substitute they’re very similar but can be used to replicate each other. Corn flour and starch are two different ingredients
Found it rather dry, though the flavor was there. Maybe doubling or tripling the sauce measurements will improve this.
Plenty of indigents which are super hard to buy in Poland 🇵🇱. Damn
This looks great, but there's a lot of ingredients and sources that I think the supermarket won't have. Might be a little difficult to replicate imo.
raise your volume
cheers for the heads up
A small correction - It’s Chaomian ( Chao Mian), not Chow mein😁 Cheers☺️
Second!!😁😁😁😁
Great recipe. But here in the US, those ingredients are not cheap. Not unaffordable but saying cheap is a little misleading. But thanks so much for the video and instruction.
What ingredient isn't affordable?
@@ruthnoya8424 I didn’t say it’s not affordable. But all those ingredients are not “cheap”. Some are even hard to find in regular grocery stores. Try reading the post.
The problem with meal prep is an individual eats the same thing everyday. This is how people get board with their food and then starts eating junk or whatever.
You don’t eat it everyday though.
Sorry Jack, usually your recipes are delicious but I made 5 portions and found it really bland. Not a good choice with the egg pasta, really needs some kind of traditional noodle because 500 grams was its just too starchy and the sauce just didn't cover it enough.
It’s okay. Not every recipe is for everyone and they can all be adjusted to suit your needs.
First! Thanks @chefjackovens
