When it was Chatham Dockyard a Bicycle was never used...this is just a tourist piece of nonsense. .All floor and spaces were used by running machines. Workers would have to run up the floor clearing the way with the forming machine chasing them...So much moving Ropes on the floor a Bike would have been impossible...Most times three ropes were made at a time...where the visitors now walk was known as the small side as small ready's or strands were formed there. How do I know this? My Grandfather was a Ropemaker, My Brother was a Ropemaker and I was one of the last two Ropemakers indentured at Chatham Dockyard. It's good that it is still running but it is a shadow of it's former glory. Just get rid of the Bicycle nonsense.
@@cmcook34 There is a bike clearly shown in the video....It's of no importance really and tells a tale I suppose....just you try running up the floor with the machine chasing you....TTFN
Love it, great to see traditional rope being made. Freaky though, the way the paint has weathered looks like faces on the guarding!!
Thats really cool!
Really intersting!
Neat!
0.05 - I've got no idea what's going on there but it's incredible it's all powered by one pushbike!

The only reference to a bicycle seems to be in Arthur Lewis' (humorous) comment, unless I'm missing something.
