- Carmelo Anthony has been the past decade’s most prolific scorer. His all-around game has earned him a scoring title and multiple all-star game appearances. What makes him such a great scorer, particularly in the post and triple threat?

😂😂
Bless you for this word!
and ignoring all your other teammates on the floor
Crazy how much contact he absorbs when he attacks the rim and yet you would rarely see him flop. That right there deserves respect especially considering stars nowadays snaps their heads back and flail their arms out like a fish outbof water everytime theres minimal contact.
Carmelo is unguardable. He can drop 30 on anybody in NBA history. Straight facts.
Joshua Pleasant not on my myplayer
KingSplash 97 your player isnt irl
Bruh...
Play Melo in Blacktop then
Dude GANEY Ok on tuesday when I come back to my house
He will be far more reconized if he were playing in 90s
I feel like he recognized enough if u don’t see this then yeah lol
Who is here in 2019 after Carmelo started playing for the Portland Trail Blazers?
00 Rip City!
2021 😅
Love Melo's game. Dude literally has no weakness on the offensive end. It's a shame that he has yet to play with the kind of talent that LeBron and KD have around them the last few seasons. Just imagine the kind of damage Melo could do playing in Golden State, replace KD with Melo and I don't think they would miss a beat.
he prolly has a weakness. he takes too long to take/make a good percentage shot which stops the flow of offense. i mean he doesn't decide quickly enough whether to drive, score, pass in the flow of the game, that way his teammates are more involved and the defense doesn't load up on him. Kinda like how MJ, or George Gervin used to score, prolly even KD. though i think Kobe is the same with melo in this regard.
Also, he's a lot more efficient if he wasn't the main scorer and spot up more, like how he does in team USA. so yeah, Melo on GSW would be sickkk
T Challa jab step, jab step, jab step, jab step, open teammates twiddling their thumps jab step, jab step, jab step, Derek fisher praying to get fired, jab step, jab step, Jeff Hornacek praying to get fired, jab step, jab step, warriors win the 2017 nba finals, jab step, Jab step, contested jumper.
I see it every other night. if he played in the early 2000s iso Era. that would have been the most duplicated move ever. unfortunately in this Era that is how you kill team continuity
PUGE BUY jab step jab step jab step.......
hahaha all those jab steps and all he gets is a heavily contested jumper. just like Kobe lol
PUGE BUY Kobe has moves which at times leave him with a heavily contested jumper as well. he goes the jab step as well from time to time.
Melo as a second option. where all he has to do is shoot especially in transition would be deadly. maybe in a couple of years, he could be convinced to take that role
Melo one of the greatest player in the NBA.
#Staymelo
Hanne Anthony StayMelo bro. join Carmelo Anthony Ph Group

Carmelo Anthony : Chill bro I just shoot the ball.
U shouldn't have made me lmao
This is such a great video, great job my man. And if you wanna learn how to score, there's no better player to study.
Facts!!
accept jesus christ as lord and savior read the gospel follow jesus with all your heart keep his commandments spread the word of God
Jimmy Norwood Kobe?! 😐
Amen. Praise the Lord! Let his name be glorified through all the earth 🙌 Jesus Jesus Jesus ❤️
@@josiahhenry367 too intense.... he's pure hard work.... Melo was natural.....like that from his rookie year.......if melo had half the Kobe's work ethic he'd be a GOAT.
His skillset is underappreciated because of how subtle it is (and the media narrative). His ability to use rhythm without even dribbling and use off-rhythms on jabs or mid-move and his ability to shoot out of any position instantly, low, mid, high triple threat, doesn't matter where he's holding the ball, he can shoot out of that position. He seemed to me like the AI of the triple-threat.
Good analysis. And whats funny is that he's probably not thinking all of that he's just doing. It's instinct to Melo. What a Beautiful game he has
Nah he definitely practiced these things
Melo one of the greatest scorers to play
The small arm pumps when he holds the ball high help with his rhythm and leave the defenders guessing. Melo is one of the best the league has seen as rhythm and off-rhythm. Love the part about him finishing strong with the elbows out. Everyone today is working on finishing like small guards, one-hand lays and scoops. I miss the days of finishing strong, balanced, powerful and protected.
This channel deserves more love. All of the things you point out are extremely helpful. You're awesome!
Cant believe i didn't find this channel sooner great work! Wasn't a big Melo fan before but he's putting in work in the olympics

Who is here in 2021 now Carmelo Anthony is on the LA Lakers?!
With Lebron, AD and Russell Westbrook!
7 Lake Show!
This channel is gonna be one of the best ones out on if you guys keep pushing out videos like this. I'm a trainer and I'm hyped about showing my kids relevant videos from By Any Means Basketball to help them. Awesome. Question: what do you use for editing film?
Other than MJ/Kobe & Tmac I dont think we ever seen another lethal all around scorer like Melo. I mean KD is a scoring machine but you can tell alot of his buckets just coming from lanky armed type shots. When MJ Mac & Kobe work it looks so beautiful just as With Melo. Pure Basketball art.
Amazing videos, keep adding more!
Gotta love his game man. Melo is so technical and amazing. He's not a prodigy with gifted talent but he's just so good. I love watching him play and he brings uniqueness to the game. Love it.
Beautiful breakdown of Melo's game. Cant wait till the season starts, he is gonna have a great year.
Your breakdowns are the best!!!
Love this video great work

+By Any Means Basketball Thank you I've practicing what melo does for a year and still haven't been able to get it at all this video explains it all
+tmacrocket1 there is one!
+tmacrocket1 no worries. Appreciate the support!
Basically.....Hes the Best Scorer in the NBA since Kobe retired.
Mic Parker Kevin fucking Durant is a better scorer than both smh
Patrick Robertson Kobe scored 80 + points in one game.
Patrick Robertson Melo has been the more versatile scorer
Mic Parker kd? 😑
Melo is way more skilled of a scorer than KD. KDs length is what makes him lethal but when it’s comes to moves, Melo go it on lock.
a minute into the video and i already subscribed. great vid on melo!

great video!
These are great videos! I have watched every one I believe and I wish I had them when I was a kid. Now I am 58 but I still use them to study and improve my game.
One thing I would like to say - and I am probably going to sound like a nitpick but I think it is important. Towards the end of the video you stated that Carmelo, "rotates his body in mid-air", The video then shows Carmelo landing with his feet almost square to the line of his shot compared to his feet being just slightly turned relative to that line before he jumps, proving that his feet rotated.
My problem is that it is impossible to rotate your body in mid-air because it violates the Law of Conservation of Angular Momentum. If you jump off the floor with zero rotation, your body cannot start rotating just by itself. Carmelo has great offensive skills but he can't violate the Laws of physics. Carmelo's feet are already turning when his feet left the floor. That is because Carmelo initiated this turning action as he jumped, BEFORE his feet left the floor - not in mid-air.
With that said, the main point that Carmelo rotated his body as he shot is exactly correct. The problem is, you can't make that point just by looking at his feet. You have to consider his ENTIRE BODY. If you look at Carmelo's shoulders before he jumped, you see that his shoulders also turned.
OK so I make this point because so many shooting videos I watch draw wrong conclusions which leads to BAD advice - not in this case but in many other cases. I think this bad advice really hurts shooters who are trying to learn good technique. So you have to be very careful when giving advice.
This obsession so many gurus have with the feet turning is a prime example. There are many gurus who insist that the feet should be turned inwards before the shot. That is just NOT correct and is of minimal importance. Shooters can square their feet or turn them inwards - whatever they feel comfortable with. There have been many great shooters including Mark Price, Calvin Murphy, Andrew Toney - who jumped with their feet square. The point is, you don't shoot with your feet - you shoot with your arm and wrist, anchored by your shoulder, anchored by your back - so what is important is how your entire upper body is positioned when you jump.
The video points out that Carmelo turns his body to "relieve pressure" and that is a highly controversial technique. I agree with that completely. I am actually on the side that if you have to rotate your body in the air to get the ball above the front rim, it is a BAD SHOT, especially from beyond the arch! Your body should ideally rise straight up in the air with ZERO rotation because any extra motion outside the motion of your arm and wrist - is a distraction. If you are very close to the hoop, you can get away with it.
Now if you jump with your feet pointed towards the hoop and you land with your feet pointed inwards, does that necessarily mean your body rotated in the air? No. It depends on your shoulder line before you jump. If your shoulders are turned inwards before you jump and you jump straight up with zero rotation, your feet will turn to align with your shoulders once they leave the floor. Before your feet leave the floor, the floor applies external torque against your feet to align them straight ahead. Once your feet leave the floor, that external torque disappears and your feet and shoulders align together the same way.
So many shooting gurus fail to recognize that and mess up player's shots by telling them it is wrong to square their feet. Forget about your feet! Get your shooting arm lined up with the hoop before you jump, and swing your elbows straight up so your shooting elbow lines up with the hoop before you stroke the ball. Anchor your arm by keeping your shoulders back and a slight arch in your lower back - and maintain that solid anchor as you stroke the ball comfortably.
great essay, i think. did not read it all lol
Strong as a bull, quick as a cat and can score all 3 levels easily. just a beast.
Great video
This is the technique that i always use thanks to carmelo
Very very good informational video you got a sub! might add me of this to my game
amazing tutorial !!
Please do a complete video on Jamal crawford and his scoring moves, I would love it and I know other people would too
great video 👌
Lotta guys wanna see videos of the most physically talented and athletic dudes. I'd rather see a breakdown of a guy like Paul Millsap who is undersized and relies on a lot of skill rather than height, speed or jumping ability. CJ McCollum is another good one to breakdown. I also think prime Dirk Nowitzki would be good for those of us who are tall but slow and can't jump.
These are the best videos I've found for breaking down pro games. Keep up the great work.
I agree completely. I believe you can learn more from those who maximize their athleticism than those who simply use it to make them superior. However we will soon be breaking down the athleticism of players like D Rose and Westbrook.
thank you!
great video
Good timing
Best two motion jumper of all time
