I don’t know if anyone has commented this before, but Taeyong has no background/training in dance prior to his trainee days in SM. He only learned how to dance after he joined SM, though their dance teacher almost gave up on him (lol), but our boy worked & practiced hard. So for me, improvement in Taeyong’s dancing now is really impressive. But I also know that Taeyong has still a lot of room for more improvement.
Yes, absolutely! He was scouted at age 17 because of his face (apparently the SM talent scouts offered him toast so he decided to talk to them despite never having heard of SM... lol) and had never danced at all. It took a lot of incredibly hard work to get where he is!
honestly if you see his freestyle vids from the first one to the last one you can tell that he is still working hard and improving a lot. taeyong never stops working even in his 'days off'

You have to, and I mean you really HAVE TO, watch Taemin's "Move" - he is like the god of slow, sensual, isolated and controlled movements. And please react to Seventeen's "Don't wanna cry" as well - the members are so in synch during this choreo it's almost scary.

I’d recommend reacting to NCT Dream’s My First and Last & We Young, the floor work and footwork in those choreographies are really creative and I feel like they often go unappreciated!

Jaehyun as a whole is underrated except for his visuals. It made me cry when I heard that Jaehyun talked on live about having no confidence because he felt so much pressure

ten's dancing has really captivated me and for the love of god i couldn't explain why cos im not a dancer lol. so it's really nice to hear comments from a technical perspective. as a non-dancer or as a viewer, i always describe ten's dancing as something that is so full. like whatever he does, it's what the move is supposed to look like so it's really satisfying to watch him dance. and that he talks in his dance, he can really relay the message of the song being performed through his dancing. thanks for checking out more ten/nct content! hope you enjoy the other performances you plan to see! :)

The fact that each individual moves in different ways yet they still look like a pack and flow as a whole always amazes me. It makes me realize how amazing the choreo was devised and how amazing they are as dancers. I really like how sm shows their less is more aesthetics in this song and make it look very high-end

I watched this video a BUNCH of times after I reacted to it. And while I was editing. There's something about this choreography that I couldn't completely comprehend and I think that's the beauty of it. The level is difficult but the concept is just out of this world good!

when you said ten dances in a clean way that makes you see what the choreography is supposed to look like, i was like YES YES YES. i also notice all time when groups aren't in sync and stuff like that so i really like ten's precise and clean dancing which is more what i prefer to see. you can see that in ten and taeyong's Baby Don't Stop dance practice especially since taeyong dances more freely and more.... swaggy as compared to ten's clean moves.

Nor is it a basis for comparison between Ten & Taeyong. For SOME reason (he never sluffs on practices) Taeyong is underdancing to the point of mere marking in it. Stop Baby Don't Stop is just TOO iconic in the NCT repertory to be dissected like a corpse--not to mention it's scorching the SuperM stages on tour. Also...to be fair to Taeyong, who wrote those lyrics & set that tone....at some point...no matter how people downplay his dancing...it has to be acknowledged (the insane reaction to his self written/choreographed solo rap GTA in SuperM proves it!) that he IS one of Kpops Greatest Showmen. Taeyong's instinct for & control of his audience is spellbinding. He keeps focus camers hopping to catch that magic and one recently did where, when closing a concert in japan, he SILENCED an entire screaming stadium of NCTzens by putting his fingers to his lips like a school marm...instant dead silence. I have never seen anyone who could DO that. Just as easily, he did one of his "cute things" and left them screaming for him as he dashed off the stage. The 7th Sense basically embodies the whole NCT concept in its lyrics and I think there wasn't a better debut than this. I also think the choreography is perfect to show what NCT means💚

to be honest, the 7th sense dance style reminds me of TVXQ's Mirotic. they're not entirely synchronized and they show off personal skills and technicals. im not a dancer so i dont really know the terms but their vibes are both similar, imo.
both portray slower but sharp dance moves but mirotic is more on the sensual side while 7th sense is kind of like the high feeling vibe, if you kno what i mean lmao

you were so right about it being a dance that gives them no time to breathe, when they did their live stages of this you could hear the breathlessness completely on one of the stages and the vocal track playing it out for them because they were really new and working on vocal and dance control at the same time haha. they were still really amazing but people highly criticized them for it, which was crazy since it’s such an involved choreography so for them to even be able to carry it even slightly vocally was amazing as is.

That barrel turn/jump that they keep doing is present in A LOT of KPOP choreos, so you'll see it again and again haha. It's present in traditional Korean dance and it's really become a trend now.
I love how you point out the "different arm execution". Cause i think thats what i love about NCT choreographies. They are all doing the same moves but individually owning it and executing it the way they want. That is why that "same move" and step looked so different in every member. Which i think greatly helps in their creativity and expressing themselves in dancing. So kudos to their choreographer or SM or whoever. This is NCT flavor and i love it.

I love how "that is (really) hard!!!" is a constant phrase in your videos because it just shows the standards of k-pop dances on the whole. Especially with groups like NCT, and my ult Ten!
my favorite part of the choreography here is the intro, the imagery they're portraying is a moving eye (note jaehyun's head as the pupil + mark and taeyong's feet as the inner and outer corner of the 'eye', and by the end their arms ) and i thought the way they executed it was brilliant.

I watched one of their comeback performances and it’s a shame what they do with the camera work 😖 I’m glad they put stuff out like this performance video.
I just wanted to note, a lot of NCT members have different dance backgrounds, but I think it ties into their concept that they're not really asked to conform to one style in their choreography. Sometimes even for simple moves, you can see several members doing it different ways. Unfortunately this makes the dance appear more unsynchronised but if you have time to watch each performance several times, its really interesting to watch how each member interprets the dance
Yes, this is exactly the kind of commentary I watch your reactions for - all those little things I didn't notice or pick up on but you do, like the individualised style, or the fact that the moves are on the downbeats. I knew this is considered a very hard choreography but I never really understood why. Thank you! I live for Jeff’s reviews of NCT. He’s not afraid to point out the little details where the choreo or the imagery could be improved. It’s so hard to find unbiased opinions on groups these days, and it’s such a breath of fresh air to have an honest technical critique from someone who stands by their learned principles no matter the content. Of course I love everything NCT does as they’re my absolute favorite group, but it’s only healthy to learn how to take critique so that we can actually see when the members improve! Over the past fours years since their debut, all the members have improved drastically in their skills of dancing, singing and performing. Even the members themselves point out areas they want to improve, and that’s why they always talk about “monitoring” themselves nearly every time they do a commentary. It would be nice if everything always turns out perfect, but I feel like the fact that it isn’t, can be a testament to how difficult it is to actually pull off what NCT constantly does time and time again. They consistently try to do better every comeback. Complacency is not in the vocabulary of NCT members. Not to say that I don’t 110% appreciate EVERYTHING that the members can do (because God knows I can’t even to a fraction of what they can). But showing them respect and acknowledgement is just as important as giving critiques, and I’m glad that Jeff does all of these equally. Thank you for taking your time to learn more about NCT! I can’t wait to see more about what you think about them!

honestly this song is depressing as hell just covered by the 'sexy' mood lmao people who did an English cover of this (example: arcee, check his covers out he's superb) said this was a depressing song and tried to turn it a bit lighter at least.
I feel like ten would stick out most naturally in this mv cause unlike the others in this video he has always grown up a dancer and considering this was debut all the other members only had their training experience in dancing. So while they were great dancers they werent as refined as they would be now compared to ten who had been doing this since he was a child.

I’d recommend reacting to NCT Dream’s My First and Last & We Young, the floor work and footwork in those choreographies are really creative and I feel like they often go unappreciated!

Jaehyun as a whole is underrated except for his visuals. It made me cry when I heard that Jaehyun talked on live about having no confidence because he felt so much pressure
hes good it's just that when you compare him to others, he's not as good. But that's just how NCT is. Everyone is so talented on their own, there's always going to be underrated members unfortunately. But there's no denying he is talented both vocally and as a dancer

ten's dancing has really captivated me and for the love of god i couldn't explain why cos im not a dancer lol.
so it's really nice to hear comments from a technical perspective. as a non-dancer or as a viewer, i always describe ten's dancing as something that is so full. like whatever he does, it's what the move is supposed to look like so it's really satisfying to watch him dance. and that he talks in his dance, he can really relay the message of the song being performed through his dancing. thanks for checking out more ten/nct content! hope you enjoy the other performances you plan to see! :)

The fact that each individual moves in different ways yet they still look like a pack and flow as a whole always amazes me. when you said ten dances in a clean way that makes you see what the choreography is supposed to look like, i was like YES YES YES. i also notice all time when groups aren't in sync and stuff like that so i really like ten's precise and clean dancing which is more what i prefer to see. you can see that in ten and taeyong's Baby Don't Stop dance practice especially since taeyong dances more freely and more.... swaggy as compared to ten's clean moves.

There are many smoking hot videos of "stop baby don't stop" but it's deadpan BDS dance practice is NOT one of them. Nor is it a basis for comparison between Ten & Taeyong. For SOME reason (he never sluffs on practices) Taeyong is underdancing to the point of mere marking in it. Stop Baby Don't Stop is just TOO iconic in the NCT repertory to be dissected like a corpse--not to mention it's scorching the SuperM stages on tour.
Also...to be fair to Taeyong, who wrote those lyrics & set that tone....at some point...no matter how people downplay his dancing...it has to be acknowledged (the insane reaction to his self written/choreographed solo rap GTA in SuperM proves it!) that he IS one of Kpops Greatest Showmen. Taeyong's instinct for & control of his audience is spellbinding. He keeps focus camers hopping to catch that magic and one recently did where, when closing a concert in japan, he SILENCED an entire screaming stadium of NCTzens by putting his fingers to his lips like a school marm...instant dead silence. I have never seen anyone who could DO that. Just as easily, he did one of his "cute things" and left them screaming for him as he dashed off the stage. That, too, is a performance skill. and you simply can't evaluate a crowd tamer like Taeyong if you never watch him WITH a crowd..
With that in mind, view the dance practice if you MUST (I never do_ but I waded through the Tour fancams for a CURRENT version with TWO Main Dancers, of SuperM...doing what they do best...thrilling us.

to be honest, the 7th sense dance style reminds me of TVXQ's Mirotic. they're not entirely synchronized and they show off personal skills and technicals. im not a dancer so i dont really know the terms but their vibes are both similar, imo.
both portray slower but sharp dance moves but mirotic is more on the sensual side while 7th sense is kind of like the high feeling vibe, if you kno what i mean lmao
anyways, YOU REALLY SHOULD CHECK OUT LEGENDS LIKE TVXQ- they debuted in 2004 and damn, they're all so talented af. I'm an ELF (Super Junior's fanbase) but TVXQ has my respect in terms of all members are damn talented in vocals and dance.

Taeyong's passing (or not) resemblance to TVXQ!'s magnificent Jaejoong (the SM idol who "got away") has been noted & fought over since his rookie days.. you were so right about it being a dance that gives them no time to breathe, when they did their live stages of this you could hear the breathlessness completely on one of the stages and the vocal track playing it out for them because they were really new and working on vocal and dance control at the same time haha. they were still really amazing but people highly criticized them for it, which was crazy since it’s such an involved choreography so for them to even be able to carry it even slightly vocally was amazing as is.

I love how you point out the "different arm execution". Cause i think thats what i love about NCT choreographies.
They are all doing the same moves but individually owning it and executing it the way they want. That is why that "same move" and step looked so different in every member. Which i think greatly helps in their creativity and expressing themselves in dancing. So kudos to their choreographer or SM or whoever. This is NCT flavor and i love it.

my favorite part of the choreography here is the intro, the imagery they're portraying is a moving eye (note jaehyun's head as the pupil + mark and taeyong's feet as the inner and outer corner of the 'eye', and by the end their arms ) and i thought the way they executed it was brilliant.

I just wanted to note, a lot of NCT members have different dance backgrounds, but I think it ties into their concept that they're not really asked to conform to one style in their choreography. Sometimes even for simple moves, you can see several members doing it different ways. Unfortunately this makes the dance appear more unsynchronised but if you have time to watch each performance several times, its really interesting to watch how each member interprets the dance
Yes, this is exactly the kind of commentary I watch your reactions for - all those little things I didn't notice or pick up on but you do, like the individualised style, or the fact that the moves are on the downbeats. I knew this is considered a very hard choreography but I never really understood why. Thank you! Also, in 7th Sense era these were the people that performed it but a really cool dance video is when they were teasing Winwin's debut - he won awards back in China for his skills in Chinese Traditional Dance, and if you type in 'Winwin 7th Sense' you get that dramatic video where the setup is him in China being, like, called to be part of NCT where you see some of his amazing skills: ua-cam.com/video/nFMSpKYTSxs/v-deo.html (...Sadly, I think his skills have been kind of wasted in NCT, because I think THIS is his true strength, not the sharp movements of NCT choreos.)

I live for Jeff’s reviews of NCT. He’s not afraid to point out the little details where the choreo or the imagery could be improved. It’s so hard to find unbiased opinions on groups these days, and it’s such a breath of fresh air to have an honest technical critique from someone who stands by their learned principles no matter the content. Of course I love everything NCT does as they’re my absolute favorite group, but it’s only healthy to learn how to take critique so that we can actually see when the members improve! Over the past fours years since their debut, all the members have improved drastically in their skills of dancing, singing and performing. Even the members themselves point out areas they want to improve, and that’s why they always talk about “monitoring” themselves nearly every time they do a commentary. It would be nice if everything always turns out perfect, but I feel like the fact that it isn’t, can be a testament to how difficult it is to actually pull off what NCT constantly does time and time again. They consistently try to do better every comeback. Complacency is not in the vocabulary of NCT members. Not to say that I don’t 110% appreciate EVERYTHING that the members can do (because God knows I can’t even to a fraction of what they can). But showing them respect and acknowledgement is just as important as giving critiques, and I’m glad that Jeff does all of these equally. Thank you for taking your time to learn more about NCT! I can’t wait to see more about what you think about them!

I feel like ten would stick out most naturally in this mv cause unlike the others in this video he has always grown up a dancer and considering this was debut all the other members only had their training experience in dancing. So while they were great dancers they werent as refined as they would be now compared to ten who had been doing this since he was a child.
