Hello, I'm Jack Porter. I'm an independent, unbiased and unpaid UA-camr. The views expressed in my videos are entirely my own, arrived at through the experience I'm having at the time. I have no affiliation of any kind to any of the dealerships or manufacturers of bikes I ride other than my own BMW 1250 GS.
All expenses for fuel, camera equipment, editing and music licensing subscriptions etc, for making these videos are met by myself in full. Any help in financing the production of these videos, from just £2 per month (cancel anytime) is much appreciated. £5 per month means you get a shout-out in the video. Thank you. JP.
Nice episode of the trip, my area of course so get to enjoy those roads everyday. The first pass is called the Dalveen Pass and is a big biking road. The second is the Menock Pass that basin along the riverside is a favourite for camper vans and wild camping, unfortunately there is a big problem with rubbish. Most people camping there seem to think it’s ok just to leave their rubbish many even go to the trouble of putting it into a bin bag then leave it there, I have seen bags stacked in piles over six feet high waiting to be taken away. The Loch Doon road is a fantastic road as well look forward to the next episode👍
People can be really crap at times. Leaving crap wrapped up in bags is still littering. ☹️
Totally agree Jack, motorbikes and dogs are fantastic and make me happy too 😊
Motorcycles and spaniels Jack what a combination stress busters. On roads like that Jack chase the vanishing point in the bends and be safe.😉😊
You have produced some beautiful videos, but this one, with the photography, scenery, fabulous (quiet) roads, background music and bumbling soundtrack of that flat twin…….this one should be feature length. Make more.
Will do Gareth. Another one to come in this series. Thank you 👍
Loved that video Mr Porter. I did those roads in the opposite direction about 3 weeks ago, and like you was blown away. It's sublime.
It sure is. I definitely want to return and soon! 👍
Stunning, simple as that.
fantastic roads jack love the video 😉👍
Couldn’t be without my bike and the mutt Rufus, great video Jack, my lovely missus isn’t bad either😉🤣👍 The A702 is a stunning road….as is the Dalveen Pass, schhhh I know about those roads😀
WOW, awesome roads 👍🏽 and you're certainly not playing around either 😂 beautiful scenery, awesome video, be safe 🙏🏾
Thanks Pete 👍
Loving this series, well done 👏
Thanks buddy 👍
Damnit, I'm meant to be ticking stuff _off_ my bucket list, not _adding_ to it!
Another good vid Jack. Seeing a lot of the roads I used and loved back in May. I'm having another trip there probably next spring but want to include some of the west coast area too along with more of the forest park area. I also loved the singletrack road South from the A75 at Glenluce (the road adjacent to the Water of Luce), following the coast down then joining the A747 through Port William and to the Isle of Whithorn and would highly recommend it for your trip next year. Really looking forward to your next episode. 🏍👍
Thanks David, I’ll make a note of that route 👍
A wonderful video of a wonderful part of the UK. I was on the Crieff Cloverleaf a couple of weeks ago, large parts of almost every route are far from the tourist track. The plus is empty roads the minus is that a cuppa can be a bit hard to come by, the Coop or Spar or local shop / garage was my friend. Where I was £6.00 would get you cake as well as tea and at Ardnamurchan lighthouse cafe another quid got me lunch. I'm writing all these roads down and already planning a week in D&G.
Thanks Neil. I went to Ardnamurchan point many years ago. I must get back there at some point. 👍👍👍
@@motomogul lots of single track in variable condition to get there / back, but certainly worth the visit.
Cracking area and roads, Darts bloody hell were you sleeping over the dart board lol. Great vlog roll on next episode 👍🏍👌
I think I was Andrew. I had to sleep in earplugs that night 🎯🙉😂
@@motomogul 🤣👍
What a fantastic trip, I just love those roads.
They are awesome. 👍
It's a little bit ironic, that the 4th part to my favourite local roads is the first 2 thirds of this very vid & now it's all snowy & i can't get out to film it! 🤬🤣👍
I'm enjoying this mate & glad I seen you on Brian's livestream to find your channel! 👍😎
Glad you’re enjoying it John and thanks for the sub 👍👍👍
@@motomogul It's awesome you/we ain't your typical GS rider, who's scared to get them dirty or even wet...Despite me just having a baby GS!!! 🤣👍
Great ride Jack. I wish I could get myself to do this. Riding alone. I mean yeah I have done. But I don’t seem to enjoy it. I never stop. I just go go go go 😂
Then I get board and go home 😂
Help…
I must admit, when I ride alone I tend to just keep going.
Nice one Jack. You are right in the thick of my playground again in this episode. If you had turned right just before the church in Dalmellington, crossed the river valley and climbed the hill on the other side, you would have arrived at Mad-Dave's Biker Cafe!
Looking forward to the Loch Doon run. Sorry the forest road is still closed. I've no idea why.
It's because of forestry work for the rest of 2023, although walkers and cyclists can still get through via detours.
Thanks Dave, is that your café?
@@motomogul No. Mine is simply a friendly coffee stop for mates whilst in the area, if I am around and not out enjoying the roads.
@@davidmilburn2818 I hope so. I don't think it re-opened since COVID restrictions were lifted. I enjoy riding through on my quad bike.
@@YoopaMan_Mad-Dave I recently read an article saying that during the covid period there had been so much flytipping on that track that the forestry commission were considering closing it altogether to motorists.
Fabulous footage Jack. It is immense up there for riding isn’t it! Another great episode for us to enjoy. Are you still happy with the LS2 helmet? Thank you👍👍
Still enjoying the LS2 with the taller wind screen but I prefer my Shark helmet when I have the sport screen on. The LS2 is too noisy in the wind.
Great roads , could you share your route please 🙏
I’m riding through 45C here in AZ…talk about a hair dryer 😡😡😡. Please give me my home of England 👍👍❤️
Oh god! That sounds awful. You would be well fed up with the weather here this year though! 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
Great vid Jack. Will you be doing a chippy run / subscriber ride out this year ?
Hopefully, I was talking to Jason about it a couple of weeks ago and he’s up for it. 🤞
Did you notice your passenger just after the drone footage?
He managed to stay with you right up until 14mins 17sec in to your video. lol
I noticed it when I was editing, not when I was there 😂🪰
Cracking series mate, really enjoyable watching, especially the long format type. Been a while since I had a ride around D&G, never went neat the coast so that's going on the bucket list.
As for the 20mph speed limit, Scotland introduced that limit throughout the borders a couple of years ago, mainly down to bikers who can't behave, ruined it for the majority.
Thanks Rich. At least it’s only through the villages. Speeding through there is just not acceptable.
Hi Jack, Enjoying the Vid. What navigation phone app are you using. Thanks, Paul 🤘
Hi Paul, sorry I saw your message yesterday but I forgot to message you back. I use the Scenic App mostly and pre-plot my routes on there so they’re dedicated routes. It will readjust if you have to detour.
It’s pretty good and half the price of Calimoto.
@@motomogul cheers for the info, I’ll check it out.
Take care and all the best, Paul
