I like that Midbeast says you learn these proplays by watching from your own point of view. Some plays in whatever video look so easy to make but actually when you sub yourself in you will notice how the micro movements are different from your own mind and these top players. For example, which direction do you dash at what point as zeri or vayne, target choice, spacing and positioning. I learn a lot from both pro matchups and Midbeast videos and the mistakes my team and myself make during my games become very obvious
The crazy thing is Irelia HARD counters ryze. She has highest wr vs him of any laner. Most Ryze players permaban her
Irelia doesn't counter Ryze, most Ryze players just don't setup properly against her. Taking exhaust over TP alone gives +5 percentage points to his win rate (resulting in his WR against Irelia actually being higher than his average). Besides, in this matchup it's only early game that might be hard and high elo players know how to play against Irelia.
Literally first timing irelia, I wad confused at why she was so bad at her and then I checked her op,gg and it was their only game on her.

I would love to see a review where 1 of the games they actually lose/playing from behind, I feel like that's something we can learn from because most of us aren't gonna win lane as hard as these pros
The problem with these replays from a content standpoint is that it usually requires a reliance on your teammates and the comments usually say “x person just carried” denying that the behind pro player did anything effectively. The truth is that good plays look similar from both the winning and losing perspective

He really needs the mana recovery from the triple potion to push before he grabs tear/everfrost stuffs. Also gives way more health security per base-outting than starting a tear, allows for a scaling champion to have a relatively "on-map" pre-mythic gameplan.

Chovy is considered a top 3 irelia in the LCK, if you're that good with the likes or clozer, kiin, Zeus and the others tossed in, you know the champion so well that you can predict play patterns

Do you remember back in 2012 saving up to buy +mana runes so you could play frozen heart tank Ryze? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Riot hates point and click damage on anyone but ADCs. I'm surprised they allowed Ryze to keep his W even after nerfing it. Same with Syndra and Veigar ult. There's not a lot of counterplay besides not letting them get out of hand.

just the snap decision in g2 to do roam plays over being miserable in mid, only moving back to collect waves, while in g1 he abuses range and makes irelia's game miserable instead. so very good.
I was stuck plat iv. I now think the reason was due to me not thinking the game like midbeast said. I was playing game after game not even paying attention to championselect. I literally changed this last 4-5 weeks and now I’m on a winning streak in plat1. I try to shove early to have prop for crab and maybe gank or fight lvl 3 on top and then go back to mid just in time to grab my wave, I try to freeze it when I can’t play very aggressive (like if I’m against shaco eve or zac) but the main thing was literally roaming. You have to roam as a mid laner. You can change the game and u have to help ur jungler, it’s ur job. I am literally going karma mid sometimes just to focus on these things

She has no way possible to do it before chovy so she backs away to not get chunked when he gets lvl 2.

If you're having a hard time against the mage you're versing, Force of Nature becomes an option. Chovy and Faker both does that a lot. But in this specific game, Chovy is having no trouble against Ahri, so Frozen Heart is the natural path since it's the item with the most amount of mana in the stats besides tear items and other mythics. In Ryze's case it is seen not just as a defensive item, but one who can enpower his spells, since they all scale with bonus mana, and the ability haste is also so yuumy for him. FH is just too good!
