I literally only found out about this now wtf. I can't believe it. Whenever I think about who my favourite bassist are, Carlos Dengler and Josh Fauver always come up first. RIP Josh. What an inspirational player.
How strange! I was just playing some Hole on guitar today on the front porch and looked up about Kristen Pfaff their bassist’s death and now Im learning about Deerhunter’s bassists death! RIP to two very talented musicians. 😢❤️🙏❤️
10 years have passed since I watched this vid for the first time and it somehow still makes me cry. Totally a legendary and the best peformance I've ever seen
wtf is with these cry comments. deerhunter is cool, but you're either drunk or are unable to appropriately display emotions and they just pour out on youtube videos. nothing about this is cry-worthy, just cool
I was at this show. Let me say that although there wasn't much dancing or jamming from the crowd, we were all mesmerized, and were seemingly hypnotized by them. Best show I have ever seen.
Wrong... Brandox Cox is what made & makes Deerhunter magical, experimental & amazing sounding. The leader w/o acting like one, making the band a more collaborative, experimental experience. But yeah, R.I.P., cig and all.
@@dekdav8037 nah. The basslines are very important. Deerhunter without Josh is like the Pixies without Kim Deal. Again this is why their last few albums have been pretty meh.
@@LilRedRasta Agree with you on the Deerhunter/Pixies analogy. I think Frank Black & gang play & sound JUST fine without Deal. The Pixies always were and are Black Francis, Deerhunter and Atlas Sound, Brandon Cox. They are the creative forces behind both bands.
+Dr. H I've seen deerhunter a couple times a number of years ago when Josh Fauver was still the bassist. He stood front and center just as he did during this show, I was front and center as well. I had no idea how much power he brought to their set and music until the first time I saw them, I was blown away actually. I don't know much about him, or what he's up to nowadays, but he brought thunder to Deerhunter, and when I heard he left the band I was actually pretty bummed out. Their new bassists doesn't bring that same power that Fauver brought.
I used to listen to this song before every exam I took in undergrad and graduate school to get me hype for the test lol. Still my favorite Deerhunter song. Definitely top 10 band to ever grace the earth.
This was the first time I saw Deerhunter live and the experience of this song live was something I'll never forget. Josh commanded the stage with his presence and his playing. RIP.
I saw them play this at Shepherd's Bush Empire when I lived in London in 2015. Was absolutely one of the best live songs I've ever heard and was caught off guard with how it goes off the rails after the first few mins and then it all comes together again later in the track. Phenomenal memory for me.
One time I saw this jam performed live and It was a really small venue and I was right in front of Bradford and the sound perfect and I fucking cried because I was overwhelmed.
Moses kind of regretting that he started at such a high pace: 9:0110:2110:4811:37.... I'm sure he had sore arms for the next couple of days of their tour;)
When suddenly Johnny gets the feeling he's being surrounded by horses, horses, horses, horses coming in in all directions white shining silver studs with their nose in flames, He saw horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses, horses.
I remember when Lockett got that guitar. I also remember when he stole mine and just sat in the office at my ex's parents place and fiddled with it on a 9volt amp for what seemed like days during a christmas gathering.
i remember feeling the weirdest out of body/dissociative experience when bradford started putting his guitar against the fan..... i simultaneously thought he was fucking around with the p4k crowd and a musical genius. i was very, very high and young at the time. the patti smith cover confused the shit out of me
RIP Josh... I hope wherever you are, that you have a bass and a cig.
@@kyletaylor1752 how about he enjoys them. Deal

what a fucking amazing bit of drumming. Give that man a beer
I was at this show. Let me say that although there wasn't much dancing or jamming from the crowd, we were all mesmerized, and were seemingly hypnotized by them. Best show I have ever seen.
I saw them in Dublin in 2008 and had never heard any of their music and it was the same - just completely mesmerising
Almost 15 yrs and still...rip Joshua long live deerhunter
The drummers a beast
Love how happy Josh looks when its all over. One of the best songs I've ever seen live.

Rip josh fauver, the legendary bassist who made Deerhunter as magical as it was
yep the band went down hill when he left

that bassist is a beast.

@Brad Moxon Truth !!
I used to listen to this song before every exam I took in undergrad and graduate school to get me hype for the test lol. Still my favorite Deerhunter song. Definitely top 10 band to ever grace the earth.

Drummer's foot and hands deserves a gold medal for this 12 minute beat
that was the most amazing performance I've seen in a while. What delightful improvisation. Almost brought me to tears at 11:15.
Waves of goosebumps.

Josh's Magnum Opus performance. Rest in peace, old friend.

that's why they're my favorite band ever.
R.I.P Josh Fauver 🌹 "life just passing, flash right through me"
The best deerhunter track
Incredible piece of improv here. Wow

I would have lost my mental shit when it went past the original studio time. This song is badass twice as long! Seeing them at Bumbershoot!!!
i love the build-up and energy in this performance. this is one of my favorite songs and i'd fucking kill to experience it live.
Maaaan, they sooo GET and understand music. It's unbelievable.
How the hell do they keep such a steady beat for 12 minutes
Dude then pulls out a jam ending riff, jfc right?
Lots of practice
Moses parting the sea for a steady beat my child
one of the best sets i've ever been to
Man what a band
I love this band
Engines ignite and at about 2 minutes thirty seconds in, Deerhunter leaves the planet.
I love how the bassist around 9:30 is like "I'm waitin this one out guys"
