Was an extra on set with him on Salisbury Plains for a few shots (in the trenches and the forest), and he was a real gent, as were the other actors. Treated everyone equally, like a pal.

In experienced soldiers, George McKay’s character has already experienced blood shed, Dean Charles Chapman’s character was the one who didn’t experience bloodshed.

Ken yeah I agree, I love how they tied in little things here and there in the movie that gave small hints that George’s character had fighting experience.

@@SuzannesBabies yah... I mean parasite is a good movie but 1917 is a masterpiece, it should have won, something went wrong, politics is everywhere... Damn

@@marjanp4784 At least you didn't exactly play the "not American" card, as 1917 isn't an American movie. But Parasite has more modern-day relevance. Boo hoo.

It was wise that the General sent two men on the journey. Blake, because of his brother would be in the attacking force and Schofield only because Blake trusted him. Blake alone would still have been killed, but Schofield,' s friendship had him complete the task.

Absolutely fantastic movie I cried and was so shaken although being tuff and war minded having the book" In Stahlgewittern" as a favourite war book this movie illustrated the hellish war on the western front.

Most War Movies are Incredibly Dumb, Unrealistic, and Stupid. 1917 was very realistic, well written and beautifully shot, it was a good war movie. Now that Covid-19 is reeking havoc on the earth maybe more of the stupid war, super hero, sci-fi, animated, action movies will disappear and we can all get back to reality..

No, it wasn't. The worst day in WWI in terms of lives lost was the first day of the Battle of the Somme (July 1st 1916) which had 57,000 casualties, including almost 20,000 dead. Besides, the events in the movie 1917 were fictionalised and the date was unspecified.

April 6, 1917 is the day America joined the war official as well.
