Absolutely brilliant bike. Wow. I am from Canada and spent my life riding, almost always 550 cc and up size engines. I am now living in the Philippines and recently purchased a Honda XRM 125, which I love. Cheap to buy, 65 km/litre and will go anywhere. Very easily up to 90 kph which is crazy fast here. So much fun.

Well done, good vid. I had an MB50 which was 6 speed. I think they will were. The gearboxes were in great demand in the old bucket racer days as they went straight into the 4 speed MB100 cases.

I enjoy your channel very much, and although have only had one small bike, a moped back in 1979 that I found abandoned, got it running, and my girlfriend and I used to to get to a pub several miles away. I was 18 years old.
I remember having to put tension on a very loose, left side intermediate drive belt with the sole of an old pair of work boots, to keep it going forward lol !!! Alas one night it was stolen from me and continued its journey with some other hapless soul.
I am curious as to what it is that drives you to love these small bikes so much. When you said this chrome frame is the most beautiful thing you have seen, it is obvious you really love these small bikes, which is great !!! Whatever trips ones trigger I say ! But what is it really that attracts you to these so much ? Just curious really.
I find myself drawn to smaller enduro/trail bikes, especially 1970's era bikes, 100cc to 500 cc, and I don't know what it is that draws me to them besides style I think, and having owned many over the years ? Another great vid !!!

Thanks so much for commenting. I think I got the small bike bug from living in South East Asia for a while. I learned to appreciate the common offerings as utilitarian tools that helped literally move whole nations. It opened me up to an entirely different way of thinking about transport. New Zealand isn't really a cold country in the scheme of things but at the first sign of a stiff breeze lots of people will park up their machines and stop using them. After coming home to NZ I went through a few small bikes, new and old, and learned the fun and punishing parts of each machine. Since then I've just continued to try and learn as much as I can about every smaller bike I come across. My favourites are often what people consider the boring ones - like a Honda Wave or a Yamaha Fino. But they transport millions of people every day and i'll always find that fascinating.

Hey Callum! Love your videos and especially your road trip across Southeast Asia! It has inspired me to take my little bike on a road trip once I get rego on it! Thoroughly enjoyed the series and hope you'll do another one again. :) I've got a question for you regarding small bikes or rather inner tube tires.
I live in Bangkok and inherited a Suzuki Smash 110 (unfortunate name for a bike :D ) that was in pretty rough shape when I first got it. After a few visits to the mechanic, the motorcycle is purring like a kitten nwo and starts on the first kick. However, I noticed an oddity with the tires. I've got new tires and tubes all around but both seem to lose air at an alarming rate. I ride the bike for fun so I only ride it a couple times a month for a blast and every time I go to ride it, it's as if someone has let all the air out. It takes no more than a month for the tires to be almost completely flat. My question is, is this common for tubed tires or small bike tires in general?

That can be common, yes. I check and pump up tyres every couple of weeks myself. They always get a touch test before I ride but actual pressure checks maybe twice a month.
Some tubes leak faster than others. It could pay to get a valve removal tool and that would ensure your tyre valves are done up as much as possible. You can just try get new tubes and see if that does anything. Even the same brand, some just seem to hold air better than others through my experience.
