I started watching you when you made the mexican cowboy beginner tutorial. Now whenever you post I automatically like the video because I know the lesson you give out is super useful. Thank you for putting this stuff out for free for us beginners!
this is the one technique i have struggled with. hammer on's slides, pull off's not hard, but the cluck eludes me lol. my striking finger is my middle finger so as i understand it a lot of people strike with the index and stop the strings ringing with the middle finger. i just guess i am gonna have to practice until i get it down. thanks for the great video!
I used to strike with my middle finger and sort of happened upon clucking by the way my ring and pinky fingers naturally fell. At some point I switched back to my index finger (don’t remember when or why) and felt like I lost it. I try to think of it like this: my striking finger hits melody notes and is not part of the cluck. I cluck with my middle and ring fingers by *slightly* tilting my hand forward so that those fingers hit and my index misses. The important part starting out is finding your sweet spot(s)! The next step is knowing when to do it. It takes a long time to work it into songs you already know but it can really take your playing to a whole new level.
I appreciate the feedback. Are you able to be more specific? Seeing as it’s an instructional, most of what I am doing is explaining and talking. I’ve been working on tightening up these videos as I can have a tendency to go off in the weeds.

I’ve always got more coming!

Amazing lesson man, thank you so much 🙏. I'm a scrugs style player but I want to learn clawhammer and this was very helpful!
A bit less talking would be appreciated.
