[MKW TAS] Platinum Runner TAS Strats 2

On Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, my first Platinum Runner TAS Strats video hit 1 million views on UA-cam, the tenth time an MKW TAS video by an individual has ever reached such a milestone. I figured that there was only one proper send off to that video, and that is this video. Platinum Runner TAS Strats 2, my largest non-BKT TAS project to date, a compilation that took over five months to finally complete.
If you don't know what the Platinum Runner is, it is a stat modification originally created by Atlas for TWD98. The mod takes the Flame Runner and Spear vehicle bodies and gives them both "max" stats, filling up every stat bar on the vehicle select menu. These stats provide the vehicle with the capability to perform stunts that no other vanilla vehicle in the game can replicate.
As you might have expected, this video was kind of a nightmare to create. My goal was to make a compilation that is at minimum on-par with the first. The problem was that in making the first video, I already used many of the most obvious strats. For this reason, I had to dig deep to find new interesting strats. At least in my opinion, while this video definitely has a few clips that are underwhelming, the highlights of the montage far surpass those of its predecessor's. This quite easily tops the last one and, although it probably won't get it, absolutely deserves double the million the first one got. These are some of the most amazing clips I've seen, and the fact that you came up with them just for this video (instead of discovering them over years of developments) is what makes you one of the most creatively genius members our the community of all time. Edit: I just have to add that the rDKJP and rPB ones are incredible - we really have to see if those are applicable to non-platinum time trials. As for rMR.... :)
From the prospective of someone who has very few experience with MKW TASing, I would say that rDKJP seems already a bit tight on the platinum (but maybe a better clip can be performed...), though when I saw the rPB one I was surprised, if seems very promising
@@Nico2718_ if you look at the speedometer, the ejection was at 116 kmh which is below both platinum runner’s and spear’s normal shroom speed. Additionally, spear’s normal shroom speed is only 0.16 kmh slower than platinum runner’s so it’s safe to say there aren’t really any platinum exclusive clips.
@@campbellblock3061 Incorrect. While speed is something that Spear can match when in a shroom, many of the shroomless clips are specific to Platinum Runner's speed and offroad. Plus, there are also some clips where drift and handling have to be really high in combination with the speed and offroad. Also, rSGB lap 1 cycle.
@@Jellopuff_TAS I meant in terms of the clip being able to be pulled off, but you have a fair point with abilities of handling.
Idk about rPB I spent hours in that seam trying to get it to work but this new approach looks promising since I did it from a standstill

You don't know how long I have waited to see this video, and I am proud to say, you exceeded all of my expectations in every possible way. I don't even know how a rational human being could come up with the shortcuts you did on peach beach, dk jungle parkway, grumble volcano, and desert hills. This is quite possibly the most satisfying tas I have ever seen.

this has made me realize funky kong is a wizard with a variety of powerful spells such as:
-conjure surfboard
-manifest DK summit
-command nature (specifically trees and more specifically to boost him upwards)
-do really cool flip (its a spell trust me)
-obliterate wall

His DDR TAS actually uses a different version of the Platinum Runner with different stats. With the official Platinum Runner mod, the method he used isn't possible. I tried performing it like that for my first compilation but failed due to the offroad slowing the vehicle down too much

0:51 how does the plat runner make this work??? It’s off-road? Shouldn’t we be able to do this with the regular flame runner on an unmodded game?
that's possible without platinum runner, it works because there is a wall beside out-of-bounds (OOB), and when you're next to a wall, OOB detection is ignored. a difference between this and any normal "wall hug" is that the wall itself is also OOB, so you have a very small region of space to work with in order to get the shortcut to work. unfortunately, it was proven to be slower than one of the regular sand shroomspots for a flap run, so sadly it won't be seen in TAS runs.
@@Kierio04 This is correct. However two things worth mentioning. First, Platinum Runner gets the benefit of having better hop handling, allowing the sharp turn to be viable. Second, while it's not necessarily faster, it's still really cool and silly looking, so I felt it fit to include in the montage :)
