Love the Punchline so much I just bought a second now that they're on sale at $375. I never want to be without this thing. Such a great, well-designed, and versatile pedal.
I bought my Punchline the day they came out and instantly fell in love with it. It bothered me how so much of the original marketing was "You can sound like The Beach Boys!". It can do so much more than that. Thanks for finally making an excellent video to show that off.
This video helped me make my decision to grab one of these AND kept me alive during the week-long wait as FedEx slow walked it to my house. For me and my sound, it’s a revolutionary piece of gear, totally worth the price (especially on sale for $375), and makes my previous compressor and overdrive completely obsolete. Like you said, I didn’t realize how much I needed this thing, and now there’s no way I’d ever want to go back.
Also, the amp sim… I never understood why people wanted an amp sim. I mean, if you’re using it direct, OK, but I’ve got a nice amp (Fender 800 combo with the 210 neo speakers), so why would I ever use an amp sim? Well, now I finally get it! I’m running this into my FX loop and bypassing the Fender’s onboard circuit; it’s essentially a cabinet now (and a very lightweight one I’m happy to say) because the amp sim on this JHS is so very good. Extremely rich and warm. And with the presence knob, I can get it just right whether I’m playing my more traditional sounding PJ or my boomy and ballsy Epiphone Embassy - the green one of course!
I practice the bass line to Tortor (purposely misspelled for the algorithm) from Kiss me x3. It's a challenge to play the triplets with the fingers and keep pace. Simon has a wealth of lines that are both fun and great for chops.
Any chance you guys are gonna review the newer Ashdown models, like the mini studio rig? I was looking at some, but there seem to be few or zero demos and reviews out there
I know you don’t take requests but I like to see a demo comparing the Mesa/Boogie D-800 vs the Ampeg Venture, or a demo of the TT-800, I’m planning to buy one of those amps but the videos i see don’t really show the full potential of the amps like you do
I’ll probably stick with my Ampeg SCR DI as my preamp as I do like the blending of the scrambler circuit for a lighter overdrive. I also have the SA Atlas compressor in front of it. When I demo’d this pedal I was not at all impressed with its compressor. Also no headphone jack.
Are you listening on your phone speakers?? That definitely did not sound better when it was off plus even off the EQ was on sooo you still liked at least some part of it. May not be for you but calling it fake hype is a stretch since many of the reviews I’ve read are by individuals just using it, not UA-camrs or influencer types with something to gain.
I honestly have no idea what you’re hearing. This pedal is the real deal. Every one of my basses (and for that matter, my electric guitar as well) sounds better running through this. When I turn it off, I realize how comparatively thin my overall sound is.
It was a Labor Day sale! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ my fault. A company we work with messaged me that and it was day of. Didn’t get a chance to confirm but wasn’t intentional sorry
Hello ''The Bass Channel'' I'm the official Octave-Flanger-Synth-Reverb Gang spokesperson and I must say that I'm Outraged by this pedal.......
@@jason5276 we figured 😆
LMAOOO
Just Chuck a Plethora X3/X5 behind it and you’re covered for absolutely everything

Thanks Nicki for rocking those Post Punk riffs we love!
A real fun review
thanks guys !

I have one and love it. Been down the preamp rabbit holes a while, but this one has impressed me most so far.
Excellent demo! Just ordered one.
Got one when it came out. Love it . Great pedal
The Spector CST looks and sounds phenomenal!
I think the chick playing bass looks even better!!!!
@@jagpanzer16 Her name is Nicki Tedesco.
Awesome review! I've been using one for about a month now and I love it.
my best pedal of 2024 is the Bergantino Super Pre. Just an unbelievably awesome piece of gear.
Wouldn’t know. We’ve tried to work with them lots. Reached out and everything but sadly no dice 🤷🏻♂️
Great review!👍
Got one ! Awesome job JHs
Extremely cool and useful pedal. Just seems wild to not have a headphone jack with the ampsim. Unlucky.
1st song: “Fascination Street” by the Cure. Fantastic bass line and one of my favorite albums by them.
Stavesacre does a pretty good cover of it.

Wow!!! you finally took the blanket off!! Hallelujah!

Around 5:38 when Nicki was playing I kept thinking I was seeing a light shining. Turns out those tuning machines are super shiny
I had the same issue during the editing
Song at 3:50 is “A Forest” by … you guessed it… the Cure. Yet Another great bass line.
Would have loved it if it had an FX loop to put other pedals after the drive and before the amp sim.
Sounds great but the lightning makes it difficult to see the settings
You gotta look for the white dot on the outer rim - if you can't see it, it's under the light reflection =0)
While I love the Punchline (so much that I bought two of them!) The knobs are truly awful. I have replaced them with amp knobs I bought on Amazon.

Would love to but it takes two to tango! Hope they reach out!
The Beach Boys? They should have made it a Bass Channel collab!
Let em know!!!
Love it so far! Seems like it does the Sansamp AND M80 stuff I love, and then some.
You should do a review of the Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory. For the Hooky fans🫶

Good that this holow body Gibson was because other than that, Emgs !! 😅😅😅 , dont get me wrong i have on a P and a J
Only gonna buy it if Will Agtang plays thru it! That's a fact!!
Sweet pedal, sounds very good . Especially the compressor 😮 . But I would like to know wtf does the beach boys have to do with this beast ?
Brian Wilson + carol kaye +60’s studio recording equipment= punchline

not my 2 favorite cure songs being played on the same video 👀👀👀
8:46 WHO YA GONNA CALL? 👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
This is an improved MXR M80
I've read it can be a bit noisy. Did you find this to be true?
Not at all.
Mine is dead silent. Fantastic piece of kit.
This pedal is clearly missing an octave, flanger, synth and reverb function. How can you say it's perfect for the working bass player?1?!?!!??1?!?!?1?
😂😂😂
Hey I fw reverb heavy on bass
Shoutout to the person that replied to this with "real bass players don't need any of that", watched the rest of the video and deleted their reply 😭
@@Mipster_ it’s not a need but it definitely helps enhance an already good part sometimes
"Is that a woman?? Ohhh So you went woke..." comments are coming.
Great pedal. Meat, potatoes and dessert in the same package. Awesome.
Nicki *has* been on the channel before...
Wut lol
I really don’t understand the fake hype about this pedal, already first clip, the spector sounds much better on bypass…

It’s $375 on Sweetwater right now. 🙄
Yep, grab one now at $375. I paid the full $500 for one. Love it so much I bought another on this $375 sale.
@ I’m tempted to just grab another too. Fat tone n a box. So awesome
