- As many of you requested, here’s a peek at how I made Megatron VS Megatron VS Megatron!
It took me two weeks to composit and edit this beast, but I think the result was worth it!
As you can see in this video I had to composit a background just like the other VS videos, but then I also had to put the green of some characters (mainly BW Megs) back in, which took a lot of masking and mostly time.

I found a 31 dollar beast wars megatron on eBay and I’m getting it for Christmas
Matching the dialogue with BW Megatron's mouth looked like it was extremely difficult to pull off
Superior Productions not really the matching itself, but finding a way to animate the jaws so that it didn’t look too jerky. Since the mouth is so big I had to move the jaws very little for each frame, something I matured each time I re-shot it (and took longer and longer to do, as I also animated the tail swinging)
As a result of more frames, I finally filmed it in 24 fps.

I love your videos i have been watching for almost 3 years and i just want to say that you inspired me to make my own stop motion channel i hope i become as good as you
Everything you produce stuns me. Also what software do you use for these animations? Like how do you compile the images?
I film my videos with an iPhone XS using the “Stop Motion” App. Then I use Final Cut to edit and composit :)
I guess with all those reshots and retakes, Megatron is a hard bot to work with on set.
My MP-36 (G1 Megs) has some loose joints, so it definitely didn’t help, especially the scene were Movie Megatron wants to tear him in half. BW Megs fares much better, although his size and sheer number of joints make working with him just a bit tedious.

I didn’t know that I you could track color keying. I’m working on a project now and I’m utilizing the green screen for a lot of it. I’ll try that next time. Thanks for sharing your techniques.✌🏼
The way I did it is I made two layers of the same footage: the one on top with the green keyed-out, and the bottom one with the green regions carefully masked, tracked and more saturated. Maybe there’s a better way to do it, but this is what I came up with 😅 good luck on the project!
