I'm heartbroken to hear the news. I've been checking every day for the past weeks, but now I know. I will miss Eddy very much. He was an inspiration for me to start learning tenor banjo in 2019. Thank you.
If somebody has the ability to archive all of Eddy’s recordings on this channel, I think you’d be doing humanity a favor if you saved them. Eddy, your music helped me through some difficult times... we’ll miss you.
I was so very sad when I found out about Eddy’s passing. I never met Eddy in person, but exchanged greetings in the comments section under his video posts. Eddy exhibited his love for music, his love for life, and his love for sharing his knowledge with each video. His generous spirit and talent was a precious gift that he shared willingly. He inspired me to return to the tenor banjo. My sympathy goes out his family and friends. An African proverb states that when an elder dies, a whole library goes up in flames. With the passing of Eddy, a whole university has vanished. And yet, his spirit can live on in all of us who took inspiration from Eddy. We can pick up our instruments and try to honor him in our playing, in our respect for his music, and in our being the best person we can be.
its been two years since i watched eddy. i loved his music, had it on my ipod, learned a few songs, even wrote his words into a diary i kept for my girlfriend at the time. Learning about his passing now, saddens me. ive only ever heard about how great he was, not only as a musician, but as a person. I had interactions here and there with him on youtube, and valued them all. the impact his songs have left on me, i hope not only last my life time, but many more past. his voice, and compositions, are second to none, and the store of his life is no different. Eddy, if youre able to, i hope you see this and know, you have changed someones life, even though youve never met them, they pray to meet you one day to give their thanks.
So sad to find out you left us, Eddy. How poignant that the last song posted was an original :( thank you for all the videos and sharing of your songs. RIP the world is a bit colder now...
I am so sad to learn you passed away. On the other hand, I am also happy to see this community of passionate followers you had on the internet. Thank you very much for sharing your passion for music, through this wonderful banjo.
Thank you Eddy for all instructional videos you made. Your legacy will live on. Hopefully forever to inspire future players. RIP, I'll see you in my dreams.
You always brightened my day every time you would post a video! I always thought you'd be a great person to talk with and play music. You will be missed sir!🥺❤️
hello amazing fellows, can anyone post the chords and the order Eddy played them here? or where to find it online. i am inspired and keen to continue the life's journey of this song. thanks for your help
Anyone know where I should look for a Lyon & Healy tenor banjo? I played a 17 fret with resonator back and nylon strings many years ago and fell in love. I can't find anything similar for the life of me!
The tenor banjo is a good instrument and alot can be done with it. This don't even come close to the sound nor the full potential it offers . But it is what you do . We're you a guitar player before then I will understand good song anyway thanks.
I rather see you play your history of what the tenor really suppose to be play like. Being impress by who you play with doesn't interest. Me. I'm up on the Harry reser level and Mike pingatore Roy smeck etc. I'm think you should show a younger generation a wider veiw of the good old years. I know you can just don't understand why not thanks for your time and keep smiling.
@@edwardgoldsmith8011 you should show some more respect. This gentleman is sharing his fine music with us and all you do is spreading negativity. Maybe think about doing something productive like actually learning an instrument. Anyway, thank you Mr Davis for the music :)
I wouldn't say anything I didn't know.my veiw point is for a tenor banjo the way it's so to be played.harry reser.roy smeck.milk pingatore.mario.these are models of a way a tenor is played.and by the sir you are the one that has to learn more about a tenor.a tenor banjo should never be played like a guitar.if you knew that then you wouldn't have made a comment on mine.a tenor banjo played and learn the correct way is a delight to listen to.frank reino all great tenor banjo players knows.mastering the fingerboard and perfecting the tenor is left to the real mcoys of the tenor.negative no.just telling it like is is.i don't need to comment to you anymore.until you do your homework.
@@edwardgoldsmith8011 then just listen to the players you like and stop listening to those you don't like. But saying there is a way an instrument is supposed to be played shows how close minded you are and saying Mr Davis is playing the tenor like a guitar tells me A LOT about your credibility, which is something around 0. Anyway, listen to whatever you want but stop putting down others just to make you feel important.
found this guy 5 minutes ago and now i heard about him passing away im so sad

No doubt this needs to be done. Ed was the encyclopedia of tenor banjo and the guy who made me love it. So few places where this can be learned.

Is that a short neck banjo? I have a fancy 1924 Vega that has a short neck and a slightly bigger pot that I don't know how to play.
😞
