A lovely voice, like a Summer evening or the clinkclank of ice in a Sidecar cocktail, melancolic, sensual, warm....matched perfectly with the Neo-Boogie Woogie of Ron Rogers..It makes me want to dress in sequins and walk down a catwalk.
I'm 60 and having a blast! All thanks to Cory Daye, I didn't know she had solo songs. Better late than never, I guess. Gonna look for some more Cory Daye songs.
I love this song and there are no others that compare to Cory Daye. I wish she would come out with more music. It would be great. she sounds just like her recordings on stage thats a real singer. More cory more.
It was a golden era. I will never trade in those years for anything. Had this been released between 77-82 and given adequate air play, which it would have got, by the great NY DJs, this would have been a huge it. However more importantly, it was done period is what is great andI I am so fortunate to listen period. I always loved Cory’s voice
What a great unique song. Excellent beat, splendid inflections by Queen Cory, and mellow harmonization. I have never heard this before. Many thanks greydynwolfcow.
That's so amazing Armando! I wish this could be re issued and remastered! I have a few other 12" records from this time( In The middle of the night) and I cried too many tears! I would love to hear house remixes of these rare finds!
OMG this is beautiful ! This dates back from '86 ? Were it not for the retro-house-ish intro & break, this sounds very late 70's, early 80's. I must say I love it. This deserves to be stripped down to focus on the wonderful disco melody & Cory's unique voice.
awesome!! If you want to tell us more about the recording of this amazing song im sure all the cory daye fans out there (myself included) would be thrilled to hear !!
wow thanx for postin. this one. i love the way cory sings. there 's just no comparison . her style is so unique. Like the arrangments on this tune too. you can hear the dr buzzard flavour clearly... too bad they split up...
This song is great... Cory kept her 40's jazzy NY style influence... Nevertheless wasn't recorded with Dr. Buzzard's previous quality of production... Her voice a bit too "naked" and with a bit too much reverb... Classic would still be Pow Wow & Green Light... All the way!!! Too bad the main stream skipped these classics not only recording wise but composing and recording wise...
Wow.. I found it! Cory was a pleasure to work with. I was the assistant engineer on this one. Great voice.
Cory Daye....Like an Exquisite Fine Wine....Only Gets better with time....!

Thank you for such a picturesque description!

Her vocals were the epitome of my idea of sophistication when I discovered her at 21. She still is. Will always be....
Cory Daye and Lillian Lopez are the reason why I moved to Manhattan. They made New York a magical place to live.

This song is very New York City, 70/80's old New York City.
It was a joy to live in Manhattan during the 70's and 80's.

Ebony bones and the racketeers - A night in NY?
This sounds a lot like "A Night In New York" by Elbow Bones & The Racketeers
I believe Ron Rogers did them both. Other people commenting here could probably tell you more.
this is extremely similar to another August darnell/kid creole track, Elbow bones' 'A night in new york' - it is on youtube so compare!
Me likee too much!

Fantastic vocals, background, maybe less drum machine. I like it.
we've just been discussing it on the verygodplus forum. search there.
Did the Dr abandon his patient. Looks like he specialised in elbows. Didn't last long though. Did it it?
:)
But, it's a copy of "Take me for a night in New York" (Elbow Bones) !!!!!!
yes but which one do you prefer ? they are both amazing to me
I prefer Take me for a night in New york, I love the video clip ;-)
+Murielle Dallongeville me too it has all the drama the rooftop sax scene and the girl wearing purple. best video ever.
Yes, I like the dramatic stories of love but one can only imagine the end it will end well , right?
Murielle Dallongeville? Who f**king cares?
Doesn't she sound great?
not bad, i was ready to dislike this
Damn, I missed this gem from the 80s!!!
