I’m 52 and this entire album has been in heavy rotation for me since the 70’s.
I mean every pitch change and voice all interact personal changes on and off beat acts through out the entire Song !!! Not easy unless your extreamly skilled and Talented..
Cory Daye is still 🔥
The new generation should push hard to bring back a form of disco. First because disco never got the respect as an influential music genre and second because its legacy deserves a much more respectful tribute.
It's a shame that Cory Daye doesn't get the recognition that I believe she deserves.
I feel as though she is NYC through and through.
Cory Daye and Lillian Lopez (Odyssey) are not promoted as some other female vocalists.
That's why I'm happy to see this video.
Her music should be remembered beyond the NYC city limits.
I TOTALLY agree, UNSUNG ROYALTY💖💖💖
She was quite tops in the 70s as it was a one hit wonder for sure as its only one of a kind. Played like any other hit over broadcast network radios all over. Her song is remembered as the 1 one never forgets.
I grew up on that song.......I just turned 58 this year and my mom and dad played the hell out that album around the house! That particular song brings back so many memories as a 12 yrs old boy growing up in Chicago, that I still love it to this very day!
We did too bro and when we danced it was a different dance because of the quick changes in pitch acts fill you up.
ONE OF A KIND FOR SHURE.
Same story from Miami!!
Same story from NY!
I am so glad I was born in 1970, y’all! What a privilege for my ears to hear this song! 🔥❤️👏🏾
This album was released in January of 1976,My HS Graduation Year! I Find This Music & Her Voice TIMELESS!
Same here
Same 🙏🏾✨
It's a very beautiful song and music track-If you know or like the French language as I do,with more reason to love this beautiful French and American song-Enchantez!🥰😇
that's my girl, Corey. Miss you. She is one of the greatest singers in the world.
the way she sang this was amazing
That record is timeless. And a classic
It really is
Oh, to experience 1976 New York.
Wish
I am so glad that I found this video. This brings back memories of my childhood and teenage years hearing my parents and relatives. Play this music.
Ya ' same here! I ran in to a late friend today who reminded me of this song as we drank home made wine playing this song often . ONE OF A KIND.
Lived in NYC when this song was all the rage. Whenever I hear this tune it brings back wonderful thoughts of my youth and good times. It's a fabulous record that still sounds good today...thanks Ms. Daye ❤
I'm from NY too, and my mother used have this album, and click clicks from club Zanzibar
Stop lying
Agreed.Thank you brother
Dido & she's got a voice etc and she's beautiful...great name ...like mine 😊
God I loved this group and this music! I remember dancing to this and all the other tunes from the album in nightclubs in D.C. in the
mid-70's... those glorious days of my youth :) Can't believe all those years have gone by but I still keep this music in play and will
forever!
Her first verse on "Sunshower" absolutely makes my heart melt. I wouldn't know what I would do if a woman sang/said that to me 😁
Thank YOU, Ms. Daye, you were a big part of the soundtrack of my life. A touchstone!
Who is making music like this today? Songs like this fed me and inspired me through NYU's Music Business undergrad and law school.
Now we have Billie Eilish whispering her way through a song and I'm in the car straining to hear what the heck she's saying! I shouldn't have to work for the music. Music should move you and awaken your spirit. This music does!
Great interview! Ghostface killah was my introduction to this amazing song
Same. Me too 🥰
Have you checked out Sunshower or I’ll play the fool for you? If not check them out
lol yes. Had fun singing the wrong parts, can't wait to learn OG version
Sameeeee
Original is way better
I know this song b/c it was big in my parent’s time so I grew up on it. This song made me wish I grew up during disco. I still listen to it in 2023!!
...no shade...but SWEETHEART YOU MISSED IT...the FILM.....LADY SINGS THE BLUES with DIANA ROSS had come out a few years earlier....and the fashion designer YVES SAINT LAURENT had come out with his SCANDAL COLLECTION during the same time so everyone was COMPLETELY into dressing like the 40s and 50s...the MUSIC....the CLOTHES....the CARS....the DECOR...and when DR BUZZARDS ORIGINAL ...had come out....with the AFRICAN BEAT...and their STYLE....WIT....and SOPHISTICATION....and CORY...looking and sounding like a JOYFUL BILLIE HOLLIDAY....WE ATE THEM UP...and all of a sudden they were like the HIP INSIDE THING...they were very YOUNG....and you could SEE that they were so SURPRISED and HUMBLE....they did SPEND a LOT of their money on outrageous things but we LOVED THEM...their recent claim to fame is that a couple of years back MARIAH CAREY....wrote her autobiography....she was discovered by...and MARRIED....TOMMY MATTOLA...she had no idea who he was at first and when her girlfriend started singing CHERCHEZ LA FEMME....she THEN KNEW....and in the book she said she LOVED the song as a little girl...and in the book the name of the chapter about TOMMY....is called...CHERCHEZ LA FEMME....
Love Cory! Love the song! Love the vocals! Love the arrangement! EVERYTHING!!
Agreed 1000%.Gracias brother
Well put Victor! You say it all here. I totally agree with your sentiments! :-)
Wow, I never knew she was P.R., she's got one of the most incredible voice I've heard in the Disco Era
I could just tell
I was pretty sure she was. Either that or half Black half white..
@@RudiMwongozi-gy5lp not for nothing but plenty of black women look like that ; like my mom
p.r. AND arab (syrian)
....the whole group ...you could tell they were Latino...or Afro Latino...and we LOVED THEM...
This is so great to see I use to listen to my mother old records and this artist and song was one of the best sounds I ever listen to back then thank you
3:01
Born in 1971 I heard this song for the first time last week 😢
I imagined the vocalist was the most beautiful woman in the world. I had the find out who she is which led me to this video. Cory Daye you did not disappoint. Beautiful woman with a magical arousing voice. Thank you ❤
Cory Day is still gorgeous 45 years later!
This is incredible to hear from the lady herself on how this magnificent song came about. That melody came from her heart and it is not a simplistic song at all. This is what true talent is all about. The first time I heard this song was the winter of 1977. I was 18 and riding in the back seat of my parents car when
the song came on the radio. I immediately recognized the intro as "Whispering" and that blew me away. Then that exotic beat, the big band sound, and Cory's amazing vocals. I didn't catch the name right then so later at home I ran up and down the dial on the radio to try and hear that song again. When I found out the name of the song and the band, I ran right out and bought the LP record. I still have it.
One of the most beautiful voices to ever grace my ears. And what a hip, classy band they were. Magic.
I was in elementary school the 2nd grade when this song came out. Dad was stationed in Hanau Germany and us Army brats would hear it when American Forces Radio played Kasey Kaseem’s American Top 40 every morning on the bus to school.
I was in the 6th grade and we were living in Budingen Germany and I remember hearing it on AFN radio network too
A magical moment in time. Can never be taken away. 🤷🏾♂️
I loved this song soooo much.
I wish the interview with Cory was much longer. I love her and music!!
Me TOOOOOO!!!! Love her!!!!!
Yes great interview but way to short! Nice historical info.I'm 69 and still rocking to this song!

One of the great songs of my childhood; one of the great samples of my adulthood. Its wild to be 50+ and finally hearing this!
Spontaneously searched this album. What a treat. Haven't heard it in 40 yrs!
Love this singer, band etc this reminds me growing up in Nyc being multi race, culture etc great music blasting radios wbls etc...Cory Daye she's got a great voice etc and she's sooo beautiful...great name also ...like mine..lol 😊
I love this song 🎵 and Cory Daye is very talented.
Cherchez La Femme and Sun Shower were really big songs in the 70, and I'll play the fool for you! I remember the times, the friends, neighbors and family and the neighborhood vividly whenever I hear these songs!!!!
I thought this was Jasmine Guy for a second!
That back ground goes perfect with her personality and her hair....Beautiful!
Puerto Rican! 🇵🇷 🎷🥁❤️
Good Morning. I loved this album and group My mother played this album all the time. Would love to see a documentary on this group and they need to be honored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When This Album Came Out Nothing Else On The Radio Sounded Like Them! They Were AN INCREDIBLE BREATH OF FRESH AIR ON FM!
What a beautiful creature Cory Daye is and how modest she talks about her contribution to this truly iconic arrangement, which was unpreceded and never had a successor of it's likes again.
Like herself, we did not have money at the time the album was released, so we did not smoke and drink for weeks until we got enough money to buy the record and played it over and over and over .... Finally found you, Cory.
Song was skilled and difficult for others to learn and copy. ONE OF A KIND AND ONE HIT WONDER ONE NEVER FORGETS.
I'm still listening to this song the whole album today in 2023 I remember it very well 🥰❤
Such a unique voice and song/arrangement which ushered in the Disco Era….DJ’s in Clubs vs live bands.
Amazing vocal, in an Amazing band ...
How i Discovered Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band:
i was 15 and and "Cherchez La Ghost" by Ghostface Killah came on the radio. i loved the song so much that i saved my lunch money to buy the album. i ended up loving the whole thing.
Years later, age 22, i went to an older man's house with my best friend.
The older man put on a greatest hits CD by Dr. Buzzard.
We were all smoking grass and just grooving to the music.
i couldn't believe my ears.
i has been a disco fan since high school, but i never heard ANYTHING like that before.
i was head over heels in love by the time "Organ Grinder's Tale" was about to end.
i especially loved they way the band looked in photographs.
i never saw that older man again, but i ran out to buy the debut album shortly after leaving his house.
i have only three vinyl Dr. Buzzard albums.
They were kinda hard to find.
It isn't my favorite and i barely like the songs, but i would like to have a vinyl copy of "Goes To Washington".
If only to have a complete collection.
there are a bunch of copies of 'goes to washington' on discogs right now. I think I'm around the same age as you, had the same introduction to this as a sample. glad I did my homework and dug into this band. some of the coolest music of that era. pure class.
You know how you hear a song and you can remember those memories , well that entire album will always bring me back to beautiful time in my life in Brooklyn ❤️❤️❤️
I can't believe I'm meeting this woman in a few days! Thrilled!!!
Cory Daye is one of my vocal heroes, for real.
Definitely one of those songs that whisks me right back to the 70s... a joyful sweet nostalgic feeling. so glad this song got a lot of radio play and I was able to hear it as a kid.
her voice on Cherchez La Femme is amazing 💙
I bought this album new. West Coast! How I knew of them I will never know! 67 yr old here
I adore this woman's voice! Ms. Daye is so immensely talented, it's a shame she's not more well known.
Brava DIVA! 👏👏👏👏
Cheers to you Cory.
I have always hung out with ppl 5 years my age I love disco music and I would go crazy hearing her voice
I have a yuge appreciation for this wonderful lady!
I was signed with Chappell Publishing when they came out and Tommy Mottola worked for Chappell. Didn't know Cory too well, but Andy Hernandez and Don Armando were cool. Glad to see she's doing well.
You were all ahead of your time.
One of my absolute favorite songs of ALL TIME! It still gives me such good feelings when I hear it, especially that intro. The intro sets the whole stage for the vocals. The original video from The Tony Orlalndo and Dawn Show I still remember like yesterday. I was 8 years old, and my Mom had that record and we played it, and played it loving it. Then we heard they were going to be on the show, and I begged my Mom to stay up late to see it. The presentation was something to behold. The way they captured that era (Swing and Big Band) had me and my Mom so impressed. One of the most creative, under appreciated, and influential songs of my lifetime. When Ghostface Killa included his version on his album years later, it brought back all of those good vibes. I love playing this song for people who haven't heard it to see their reaction to it, and honestly, I've never, ever, got a bad review. Everyone has that one song that stays with them and they place above all others, and this one shoots straight to the top of my list of all time classics. THANK YOU ALL FROM DR. BUZZARDS ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND FOR A SONG THAT DEFINED MY CHILDHOOD AND WAS THE CATALYST FOR MY ENJOYMENT OF THE DISCO ERA. MY FAVORITE GENRE THAT STILL TO THIS DAY, INCLUDED ALMOST EVERY KIND OF MUSIC WITHIN IT, AND GAVE THE ERA A DEFINITIVE IMAGE AND IMPACT. FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, DISCO WAS IT! I SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW IF THE 70'S WOULD HAVE BEEN AS AWESOME A MUSIC DECADE (IN MY OPINION, THE GREATEST DECADE OF MUSIC IN THE HISTORY OF MAN) AS IT TURNED OUT TO BE WITHOUT IT.
F. Y. I. , I was sent this album by the record company while I was a DJ in college ( 1976 ) I played the death out of all of it. The memories of all these friends, some of them long passed away, this album evokes. Thank you for being so much a part of my earlier years !
Tommy Mottola? The boss of Sony Music Entertainment?
Yes
Indeed
I wish there was a better quality video of this masterpiece.
Wonderful memories by a great singer. "Dr Buzzard...."one of
the most underappreciated bands evah.
Cory's voice has never left my mind. A treasure of a voice. I always wondered whether that Tommy Mattola was the music bigwig. Yep. Fictional story , real name. Love it.
I loved it then, and the album too. Still love it today. Very unique and original sound!
Ahh..my teen years! I used to love the cher cher la femme record. I would catch it on the late night Philly radio as I drifted off to sleep.
I love that song, I was a little kid when it came out. I remember being in the car with my mom and it came on the radio. Even now when I hear it. It takes me back to Happy times of my childhood. That entire album is great.
Those were some fun times, 1977-78.
Thank you for sharing this story, Cory. I purchased the LP soon after it was released and fell in love your voice forevermore. I already loved the disco-fied big band sound so fell in love immediately with Coati Mundi sounds too. I continued to want more of your voice so I followed you with Pow Wow and Green Light. Always want to hear more of your voice and musical stylings. Mmmmmwwwaaaaahhhh!
SO TRUE what she says at the end. My parents brought home these records and that's how I heard them.
I agree. Songs are associated with time, places and situations. love that tune.
What an articulate individual Cory Daye is!
It's on my forever playlist.
I still have the album and 45
Thank you for sharing this beautiful interview & ❤️ love Ms. Daye with Dr. Buzzard's Savanah Band/ Orchestra 👑👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Didnt know she was Puerto Rican/ Syrian. Makes sense.
That's a good mix
Love Cory Daye and Dr. Buzzard's Savannah Band 😻
Perfectly sung for the ages. ❤️
Very nice. Listening to DBOSB brings back happy memories of 1976.
To this day I play the vinyl version and absolutely love it!!!
Great interview, I'm glad you spoke with her. Cory has such a lovely voice. Love her vocals.
I love❤her solo hit “Pow Wow” too.

Salute to the 1 and only Cory Daye🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Really enjoyed this interview/story.
You were amazing on every level ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing this wonderful history to a classic album from the Disco era. Your vocals were truly masterful. One of the best!
One of my ALL TIME favorites from back in the day!! Sang this song in cover bands, karaoke, you name it. LOVED this band, loved Cory's vocals, love everything. And to find out here that she's half PR. Right on, nena!
This is one of my favorite songs it occasionally hits me as a ear worm at random times at those times I must hear it that's why it's on my playlist
I remember the song and lived it then as well. As a grown up i see all the things that are going on in the song, from all the instruments, those background singers. The costumes. .My older sister kind of led me to the song. Great song!!!!
BET needs to do unsung on them
Wow man!...I'm in love.
The fabulous Cory Daye! Wonderful to hear the background to material I've only recently discovered and come to love profoundly very rapidly indeed!
Long time fan Cory. Love you.
Legendary
I love this song so much. I think it's a very unique song and Cory sings it perfectly. Thank you for this.
Great interview
I still the cd. Played it earlier today
.....in my estimation, the genre's absolute PINNACLE sonically.....
I came to know this song thanks to Ghostface Killah paying homage to you al on Cherchez La Ghost back in 2000. I was always intrigued with this sample, not knowing wheree it came from, until I did further research amd found Dr Buzzard's Savannah Band. What a gem Cherchez La Femme IS (not was, IS) and the vocals by Cory Daye! I have it in my current rotation! 😍
She is still chic and beautiful!
Love the song and the group was so unique.. I love Corey Daye's voice still have her 12" single "PowWow" and "Green Light"
