    Its interesting to see how this parade changes during war time, very well done with the footgage sir.

    Before WWII judging by the packs and the cartridge boxes.

    So much better, smarter and precise than the rabble trooping the colour more recently.

      Proper long rifles look better too. It may be the picture format but these men look leaner than today. I bet they were fitter and harder. The uniforms look better, they look awful these day with all the fat bellies thrusting them forwards.

      You should also say that today they have less time to practice, and the demands to guards these days in UK are losser. That is main rason why parades form past look sharper.

      That was because the army in the past was larger and had more time square bushing

      Slimmer too. Soldiers today are very fat; a reflection of the society they are drawn from. Too many fat people in the UK today. Fat people are gruesome.

    What year was this trooping the colour?

    Funny. Coincidence or intent? This march is almost the same as the march of the 11th Grenadier Fanagorian Regiment of Prince Alexander Vasilievich Suvorov, the latter being more impressive and imperial, of course. Nicky/ie and Georgie are also very similar.

    Does anyone know when and why they stopped wearing the packs?

    • @midnightteapot5633
      @midnightteapot5633 10 місяців тому +2

      They are wearing folded greatcoats on the upper part of the back and rolled capes on the waistbelt. After October 1936 the greatcoats were no longer carried, and the cape was worn folded into a square and carried where the greatcoat used to be. After the second world war, when full dress was re-introduced, these accoutrements were dispensed with.

      @@midnightteapot5633 Thanks for the information. I have to say I think they look much better with than without.

      @@bigbattleslittleworldsI agree, the full-dress uniform was magnificent back in the day. In particular the musicians, every man had gold tape on the sleeves and on the front and back of the tunic, today just the Drum Major has this distinction. Only the corps of drums seem to have kept all of the splendor of the old full dress. Of course, the people who decide these things will say it's too expensive to kit the bands up in the pre war uniform.

      @@midnightteapot5633 They always make those lame arguments but if they didnt get rid of them in the first place then it would only have been a matter of general wear and tear repair and replacement on a yearly basis rather than a full re kit. I guess political reasoning.
