  • Thank you all for the kind comments and moral support! I think what finally did the motor was the hot temperature of over 100 degrees days and not letting the bike cool off. Now i'm a bit more north so should be a bit better with the engine not overheating anyway I guess this is part of the journey to understand the machine and to learn what it needs before it gets to that point.
After a bit of the Oregon BDR I ended up heading west to Olympic national park before crossing to Canada.
Thank you all for watching and I'll be sure to keep uploading.

@@wiscokid4395 I left it at the mechanic, didn't want to bother with shipping. Also, I already have 3 projects, one a complete rebuild of a 1970 Norton Commando 750 where I tore down the engine to the crank, and will be building it back up at some point lol and an r11s that I need to replace its clutch plates and another bike too. left it all at my parent's garage and they'd be upset if I added more to that collection lol

Glad you are back on the road. Oil is cheap insurance. Changing it and your filter every 3000 miles, on an engine that revs like that is just good practice. Using a foam vs paper air filter (and having a spare all oiled up and ready to go) is also a good practice. The ride to Alaska is pretty much a highway slog. The bike should be more than capable of running 60-70 mph all day on that leg of your journey.

My son and I are finishing the TAT today. We lost a top end on his DRZ and ended up at Mikes shop too. He told us “a guy on the TAT came through recently on a Honda with a seized engine that no one would help him with”. Crazy. Mike was awesome. Enjoy your trip!

Man, I’m sorry that happened to you, and I’m glad you’re OK. For what it’s worth there’s no reason in regards to riding duration a not-shit maintained engine (honda or otherwise) should have suddenly seized on you like that.
