MJF roasting the Boston crowd was hilarious and how much he got a reaction out of them. Darby Allin appearing in disguise was perfect. Wardlow was the only one who had a bad feeling about an ambush.
Yeah it looked like MJF and Spears didn't bother to tell Wardlow about the prank and he looked confused. Face turn is coming

They've really been playing the long game with Wardlow's face turn and I love it. It could happen tomorrow or it could be years away and no matter what the payoff is going to be sweet.

I don't hate Wardlow; even as his character, he's a guy being paid as a bodyguard for a pompous spoiled brat like MJF. With all the heelish acts he does, he does it because he is on MJF's payroll. Unlike Shawn Spears and FTR who genuinely love messing with people (kayfabe or real, I don't judge).

Wardlow is definitely going to be turning on MJF. But that sneak attack by Sting and Darby Allin was priceless!
I was just thinking that. I think his eventual turn is still on the horizon but the subtle long-term story telling has ALWAYS been an AEW strength in my book. The detail of Wardlow being surprised like everyone else and, in turn, getting grouped in as an "idiot" like the rest of Boston give REASON for his turn and I love this so much.

My only complaint from this segment is that it was to similar to the main event segment. I would have had MJF run away from Sting and then out of know where just before MJF goes through the heel tunnel Allin flys out of it with the drop kick you seen in his video, then MJF can escape and run through the crowd and trying to get the same fans he insulted to try and protect him.
But for that massive pop for wardlow he needs to show more character he need to start speaking lil bit more

MJF and Darby having a great programme. This and his work with Pillman have done way more than that absolute drizzling shit work he had with Jericho this past year. Goes to show, star power isn't always necessary when building your new stars.

Maybe he experiences loss (say, The Pinnacle get fed up and leave) and he realizes he was such a douche, therefore MJF begins to express remorse for everything he's done.

These two are brilliant. MJF is such a good baddie. Darby Allin is still new to me, but quickly became one of my favorites.
Alin and Sting an absolute dream pairing. Two Legends of different generations unified in a superb way. Sting happy with the pop of the crowd then happy to just step back and let Darby get all the crowd focus - top class.

Sting has definitely had some influence on Darby you can tell. Some of the things he does now is very sting like especially with this storyline. It kind if reminds me of the sting vs Hollywood Hogan storylines the way Darby positions himself in these segments with mjf

I personally love the old-school heel booking for MJF. Win every time he's on TV so you hate his guts, then you buy the PPV to see him get his comeuppance. Also he said when he first started in AEW he wanted to be the kind of heel your grandma would spit on when she went to wrestling shows in the 80's and I think he's accomplished that goal.
