    Not only does it make as much sense as a bumble bee being able to fly but someone actually made one a long time ago, not the sort of thing you could make by accident.

    Thanks and grats on your box kite. Its a real show stopper. People can't help but ooh and ahh over it because it is so unusual. And nobody believes it can possibly fly until they see it fly! Have fun :)

    I hear you! Making Kites is really a lot of fun. I should do another one like this box kite. And thanks for your idea about using a hot glue gun. It would make things go a lot faster. I am looking forward to spring so I can do more kite projects- YAY!

    The thinnest lightest fabric you can find. Generally you should use plastic or paper. Even newspapers would work.

  • @epicfantasy
    @epicfantasy  13 років тому

    @FAGchannelCF You do need some wind. Doesn't have to be real strong. Box kites are deceptively easy to fly. You can try using some kind of paper. I think it would work, but might be prone to tearing.

  • @epicfantasy
    @epicfantasy  15 років тому

    The 14" mark works really well for me. I suggest you try it there and then cut and re-tie it if you need to. I am pretty sure just letting it slide won't work. although you could give it a try. That will be part of the fun! Experimenting with the kite and what works best. !

    I can't believe that I just found this video of yours. I've followed many of your projects over the years and learned a lot of neat stuff and picked up many good tips from you. I may be 48 years old and have 3 kids but thanks to people like you it's easy to keep that little kid feeling inside and continue expressing that natural creativity that I know we both have as well as share it with others. I've never built a box kite before, but I'm sure I will after watching this. Thanks for turning my chilly winter evening into a sunny summer afternoon !

    @FAGchannelCF you have to add as little weight as possible. I would skip the gems and ribbons until it flies. Once it flies then you can add some things!

    I am pretty sure kite string is what you should stick with. You might be able to use fishing line but I am not sure. You need a pretty strong string that is also very light.

  • @epicfantasy
    @epicfantasy  15 років тому +1

    lol! I say that having him run around trying to fly a kite is a great way to tire him out and calm him down :) He will be ready for a nap after that! Gives you some quiet time.

    Just like any other kite. Have someone hold it up then wind out some of the string and run!!! Its a very easy kite to fly, believe it or not. You don't need much wind.

    You possibly could but the added weight might be an issue. Can always try!

    Thanks for the plans.I used square balsa wood dowels, and used tiny nails, and carpenters glue, to attach the sticks then finished with masking tape around all the joints to make it more secure.Next step in a couple of days i will buy some foil color wrapping paper, i think it will fly well and look good and reflective.(hopefully)

    @epicfantasy Hi there, have you ever seen a broomstraw kite? You make them by using a sheet of notebook paper and two pieces of a weed that grows in fields and roadsides( I'm not sure of the name, but I hope you know what I'm talking about) You simply criscross the broomstraw diagonally by poking small holes in the paper, and where they cross, poke a small hole for your thread( sewing thread) then give it a try. balance it by stripping some of the straw away. It flies in the lightest breeze.

      🔴 What Is Islam?
      🔴 Islam is not just another religion.
      🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
      🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
      🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
      🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
      🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
      📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4) 📚
      🔴 Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
      🔵 Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him.

    I like your enthusiasm sir.
    A few days ago I made the kite according to your instructions. I tried flying it by myself (it's an individual project), so I had to run to get it in the air. The odd thing was that it would not stay in one spot-- it flailed all around the sky and slammed into the ground, breaking (at least the cross pieces gave in). Do you know why this happened? Is it because I used 12'' wide plastic? I followed all of your specifications except that. And I used Glad food wrap.

    I used this video for a school project. Thanks a lot! It was very easy to follow and I had fun making it. I have one question though. Do you know how much your kite weighed when it was done? I just want to have an idea as to how much it should weigh. Also, when taping both plastic sheets to the dowels, do they need to be on the same 36 inch edge? Thanks again and please respond.

    However, it's still a unique project to do, and my teacher is fond of me and strange ideas. So as long as I research the history and all I should be okay...
