I love this deck, but it is very difficult to master, though totally worth it once you learn how to play it. Since watching this video, I tore apart my Grixis Control deck (which I built after tearing apart my UWR flash deck), to build this deck. Of all the modern decks I've ever played, this one deff excites me the most. I would recommend this deck to anyone who loves to grind their way to victory.
Reprint in mm 2017 probably will come. they'll only dip for a very small amount of time then shoot back up. I already have a playset, my issue is the fucking shoals, commandeers, etc etc lmao
:D I have a question about his sleeving, did he just put penny sleeves over them for tripple sleeving? Or did he user some special ones? I really like what he did there, and want to try it too. Now all he needs to do is replace the anime art with something else. :p
its not penny sleeves but he used character guard sleeves, just search up kmc character guard sleeves if you're interested in protecting the art of your sleeves
That's why UR is usually just better. Then you get access to Sulfur Falls, Lightning Bolt, Monastery Swiftspear, Goblin Guide, Stormchaser Mage, and Electrolyze,.
see but U/R is falling hard out of favor without the "oops i win" factor twin brought. delver is just okay at everything but the mono blue is hard control and alot of situations these days modern calls for a concentrated game plan or else you lose hard (unless your jund, because jund)
You have 6 ways to see your opponents hand via gitaxian probe and vendilion clique. Also, if you don't anticipate choke coming in from your opponents sideboard, then you deserve to be "choked." even still, nowadays, people are more concerned with blood moon than choke.
TheRubsi I've been playing this deck since watching this video, and I can say with certainty, that it DOES NOT run out of gas. The deck is very very hard to pilot, but so rewarding to those who love grinding their way to victory. I have made some minor adjustments to this deck list, and have been happy with the results so far.
Sat next to this guy I think round 4. I was kind of keeping an eye on his game the whole time because he had a turn two Thing and I was interested. I slowly took the deck less and less seriously as he started playing more of these jank cards; he used the Blast for beats and i'm just like "What the heck is that even legal", then the next turn redirected what I think was a lightning storm or some other red card and I just had to leave the table after that. It was so janky. I mean I guess he put up good enough results to get noticed, but I don't think that the deck has actual wings enough to make it consistently.
+Darren Magnotti these aren't bad cards they're actually pretty good, playing the best finishers in blue has alot of good solid removal and counters, this is a rogue deck not jank. Rogue decks run cards that look bad sometimes but then u see them in action u see they're really good but lol are so into the meta no looks at them with a second glance and just end up calling it jank BC they a couple jank looking cards
+darren magnotti If you have the time/patience for it, can you please further explain what you consider to be janky in this deck and why? You said you up and left when he played redirect... At that point I would have simply been blown away by the secret tech packed into his deck design. Redirect compliments so many cards nicely in his deck, and protects against cards like abrupt decay and thoughtseize, meanwhile pointing a path to exile at another creature on the board. Redirecting an abrupt decay at a Liliana, bob, or goyf has to feel great, but must feel even better when you redirect thoughtseize at them and take a card you have a hard time dealing with out of their hand. It's the same case with Commandeer post board in other match ups, where your opponent can win out of nowhere.
and what about vedalken shackles? i´ve seen all the games on youtube with jacob and shenhar etc. and it always seems too slow to use it against any deck...
Shackles does look way too slow even in relevant matches. It's pretty bad vs Jund/Abzan because they have so many ways to destroy it and get card type artifact for goyf/flayer. I saw the matches you're talking about and Imo we need to follow the fact that the deck is a work in progress, and vendalkin shackles just doesn't cut it so maybe spellskites? The sideboard should always change depending on meta
JFbabe fetches help you find your white source when you need to cast Geist. Also, running lands which aren't "island" in their subtype makes vedalken shackles less effective when sideboarded in against creature based match ups. Fetchlands also play nicely with Delver of Secrets, fetching in response to a creature or land card you don't wish to draw for your turn.
Above all reasons you need to remember that in modern and others fast formats you need fetches to filter the deck and take the lands out of it. Because after some point topdecking a land while your oponent topdecks a spell will lead to a loss.
If you use the cheaperst fetch lands possible: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/keep-track-1/ - 650 doesn't sound off. But do note that this as an outdated list, and that it's not excactly a top teir deck. Build it if you want, but keep that in mind.
i love these type of rouge decks. people get so salty when a deck thats not in the meta comes out of nowhere and does pretty good, id rather play a silly deck that no one has seen before than a deck that everyone and there aunt tilly is playing.

tripple sleeves. He jst loves his anime so much, he protects them with another layer...
cool version
Moo
Travis Wizard id love to see you do a video series on this deck. Loved when you covered ninja bear delver on your channel.
Snapcaster Mages, Cryptic Commands, Vendillion Cliques, counterspells, Geists... Might as well call this Mono-Blue Jeskai.
This deck has so much potential now oml
Me : *Looking at title* "Ooooo mono-blue, interesting"
*Shows 4 Snapcaster*
Me: "nvm"
Reprint in mm 2017 probably will come. they'll only dip for a very small amount of time then shoot back up. I already have a playset, my issue is the fucking shoals, commandeers, etc etc lmao
Faker senpai almost every deck in the modern format runs snapcaster mage you should've seen that one coming man plus he's at his lowest he's gonna get
Dem reprint tho
Faker senpai new art is so ugly tho lol
Deja Entendu old art is ugly too. only judge promo art is good
I'd love to see a play through of this deck online.
This is a great series, thanks
I like the sleeved sleeves.
Blue Char is great Char.
anime sleeves -.-
:D
I have a question about his sleeving, did he just put penny sleeves over them for tripple sleeving?

Now all he needs to do is replace the anime art with something else. :p

OwO what's this?
thanks all i will check that stuff out.
I live in europe, so no US Shops work for me.
looks pretty solid
are those yuuki sword art online sleeves?
Sees mono blue: oookay
Sees SAO sleeves: u wn
I love this deck o.o, looks like I know my next goal
"I'll play choke"
Shit
Disrupting Shoal pitching Psionic Blast or V- Clique.

that is diferent deck
Can someone confirm if he is using the Japanese Jace with anime art? its been keeping me up at night
Oh shit. Psionic Blast!?!?! I'm so down.
looks good
Can anyone recommend some cards to replace Gitaxian Probe?
Sleigh of Hands, Peek
Peek
opt
What can I swap the Gitaxian Probes for?
Telepathy.
the problem i see with this deck is that it will run out of gas really fast.
Those snapcaster mages really help mitigate that! That card is card advantage on a stick. Plus mutavaults give you good long game as well.

Yeah, i dont See How this deck runs out of gas. Alot of the cards replace themselves or give you a Big advantage.

rogue isn't jank just BC it isn't meta doesn't make it jank
there's rogue decks, and then there's playing decks with bad cards in them. the latter is jank.
+Darren Magnotti these aren't bad cards they're actually pretty good, playing the best finishers in blue has alot of good solid removal and counters, this is a rogue deck not jank. is this deck dead without git probe.
Peek is an alright replacement to probe, but does not have the same effect.
why would you play deprive over counterspell?
am i not getting some sort of synergi?
not legal in modern, basically deprive is the closest thing to counterspell for modern
because counterspell is not legel in Modern
that makes allot of sense
alot*
Was it banned?
kind of weird to see somebody i actually know on here
so for what kinda matchups is the commandeer for?
Decks like burn and more specifically tron, because they turn three Karn, Commandeer it, untap and -3 blow up their urzas tower
ah yeah i remember fusco sayin that... thx.
and what about vedalken shackles? i´ve seen all the games on youtube with jacob and shenhar etc. and it always seems too slow to use it against any deck...

An idea I've had was seeing gutshot in side as well for when you need to shoot infect/birds ect. It also makes Thing that much more dangerous
If its mono blue, why not have all islands and save all that money? I dont really understand the synergy behind it.
Deck thinning.
Im Darb also, you can shuffle away a bad topdeck you saw with delver
Why fetch lands and dual lands when your playing mono blue?
6 fetchlands wont "thin out your deck" for any measurable value. I thought people know this since onslaught?
it also has nice interaction with delver, you can reveal and the fetch to draw a different card.
geist of saint traft in the sideboard, so not really mono blue
I'm a NOOB at MTG, why put fetch lands in a mono blue deck?
Increase chances of "nonland" draws?
The chance is slim, but every percentage point matters. It also lets you shuffle away a bad topdeck you saw with Delver.

Sinyel I'm starting to realize that :o holy.
Tysm for the explanation
how much is this deck to build

Two Headed Games!!!! Rep!

tronbeetle I like makeup decks too, but not a fan of rouge.
