You were so lovely to listen to, you've got the perfect voice and manner for asmr 😌 I love the book too, old books are always fascinating. The UK used the Imperial system (feet and inches etc) up until 'Metrification' (I can't remember when that was, 70s? 80s?), but we still use both, measurements are usually given in both, eg cm and inches, lbs/oz and mg, pints and litres etc. But some things are mainly one or the other, we use miles on speed limits, not km, and obviously Pounds not Euros. Most people are pretty used to both for most things though, confusing for foreigners lol. This is what happens when you try to get huge old world Empires to develop a common system for the modern world 😂

Glad UA-cam recommended your channel. I like to listen while knitting. I think…(I’m too lazy to look it up) I think cochineal is still used today. It’s an insect used to make a red dye. The dye is now usually called carmine?
