For £90k more (all of which goes into the lawyers pockets for minimal benefit to the shooting community, win lose or draw) Fieldsports Britain would have had a high probability of winning this case. So, difficult to describe the outcome as "justice" for Packham and keep a straight face. Anyway, the main thing is Fieldsports Britain lives on. The former BBC presenter could not shut the channel down which is what the ultimate aim was. What does this mean? It means Charlie, David and the team shining a light on rabid antis is having an impact and the antis are getting a bit miffed that their lies are being exposed and rubbished. If you enjoy any form of field sports, at whatever level, join the Fieldsports Nation and the Game and Wildlife Conservancy Trust that provides the peer reviewed science so hated by the RSPB and Packhams of this world. I disagree. Remember this case was only about the death threat letter, not wider countryside issues. How on earth could they have won it when there was no scrap of reliable evidence they could find to back up the claim that he wrote it himself? Pure foolhardiness.

What you have to remember with Packham is that he doesn't have a job. He's a contractor, working on a per-contract basis. This means that he has to maintain a reputation that makes film makers want to use him. One might think that a person known for tilting at litigious windmills would be an absolutely spiffing choice, then again one might not. Time will tell.

A few mates of mine do a bit walked-up shooting and we all find it baffling how Packham lives rent-free in your head. We all love the countryside - he in his way, and us in our way. If you'd just focused on that and your own thing, instead of behaving in a Trump-like way towards Packham, you wouldn't have got yourselves in this situation. The actual field sports stuff you do is good, but in future, one would suggest that staying away from trolling people & not acting like yobos would be the decent way to behave. Look I hate packham as much as anyone, but the biggest problem with shooting in the uk, first cost, second nepotism in the highest order, if your face doesn't fit, you have no chance in getting permission or access that's the problem with shooting in UK, that's why the public think it's for snobs, so that's why there is so many people against shooting in the uk.
