CPE PRO and CPE PRO 2 if connected to the same tower, Im assuming the data speed would be the same. 5G signal is short range, so if the nearest 5G tower is 2KM+ away, the internal antenna of both device may not able to detect it at all. the advantage of having an external antenna you can point it to a specific tower and get a different speed result for 5G and 4G signal.

You can check where your nearest 5G mast is, if you are in an area with no coverage then I would not recommend it. If there is coverage, it just happens to be outside only you should be OK with an antenna attached & directed at the mast.
Why is my connection bad I've got the CPE pro 2 and I've got a ps4 that supports 5g but my mpbs is only at 3.5 download speed and my upload speed is 283kpbs how can I improve it so I stop lagging when playing
Just interested, as the newer router has no aerial inputs, does the new version pulls in a stronger signal from the same mast when compared to older one.
It depends what is more important to you whilst gaming, downloads or ping. 3G/4G ping is notoriously unreliable as indoor signal is extremely varied. 5G is more stable however so if you are in an area with 5G coverage we would recommend the 5G CPE Pro 2, however if you are outside a 5G zone or if your 5G signal is not too strong then we would recommend the original 5G CPE Pro with an antenna. (Something like the AF9E antenna) Hope this helps :)
By the looks of it, the Pro 2 is shyte as it doesnt have an external antenna support and the power button is at the bottom. How I ever wish it could have the features of its 4G modems which has a telephone port, and 4 LAN ports, (1 of which is an internet port), an external antenna support, a USB 2.0 for connective storage devices for network file sharing, band /frequency locking etc. I guess I would have to wait more for such features to be available on 5G modems. The Huawei B525-65a that I have still rocks this features.
With mine I just bought an rj 11 cable and attached a common house phone so that I can make and receive phone calls, sim card permitting. The sim card I have is every thing unlimited

I get download speeds between 450 to 600 Mbps and 100 upload using CPE pro. Question if I upgraded to CPE pro2 would I get even faster speeds? Because when I first got the device I used to get 600-800 that was about a year ago I'm guessing the more people start connecting to the same tower the slower it will become.
It's dependant on a number of factors, in theory the CPE Pro 2 should be faster than the 1st generation but until you had it in your working conditions, it couldn't be guaranteed.

If you wish to connect your phone to one of these devices and access 5G bands, you will need a 5G compatible device. If you are using it with a computer, laptop or gaming console etc. you should have better access to 5G speeds compared to a 4G phone.

What do you mean by internet cable sorry. Are you referring to the line that enters your house, usually providing you with Broadband? You do not need one of these to use a 4G or 5G Device as they work off of networks.

Rain uses this router and throttles actual throughput to hell no matter what the speedtest says, twitch videos buffer every few seconds and games disconnect more than my normal tower to roof 5.1Ghz vanilla wifi (which is way slower but far more stable and with much better latency since Rain seems to route their traffic to the moon first if it leaves the country before going where you want it, so very bad for gaming until they stop doing that and stop throttlng users to the point of making their service pointless for power users and gamers) good videos, hope to see many more

Antenna ports on the first generation doesn't even work. It's fake, but both of them are capable for some adjustments to support external antennas

Unfortunately got the CPE Pro 2 the speed barely reaches 30 MBs sometimes the upload around 3 to 5 idk why

Great review.... i have the pro 2 but get a major drop in speed on laptop when i connect via Lan cable instead of Wifi.
it is because the Lan port is 1000Mbs and the 5G LTE is up to 3600Mbs unsure why Huawei did not include 2500Mbs Lan like the older version

It would depend on your location, but these are pretty robust. They also come with a 2 year warranty.
