Epica, one of my all time favorite bands, simply a amazing band, with no bad songs on any album.. When i first listened to this song, i quickly renamed it to, the song of 1000 transitions. a lot going on here..
Don't forget Mark, Simone and Koen are there since 2002 with Epica. Arien (2007), Rob (2012) and Isaac (2009) are top musicians that joined early so the stability now allows complex compositions.
If you want more keyboard shenanigans, then "Consign to Oblivion" Live at the Zenith should be on your list. Though fair warning, it is significantly heavier than the other Epica songs you have heard ;)
Epica being epic 🔥🔥🔥 This is not really a live show but taken from Epica’s virtual concert during the pandemic called Omega Alive. Epica is blessing us with unbelievable music for more than 20 years. There are about 80 reaction-worthy videos on YT plus several legendary live shows - We Will Take You With Us, The Way to Paradiso and Retrospect to name a few. Omega Alive is amazing too. Keep them coming and I can assure you you’ll feel that feeling you had here countless times.
Thank you for the information! They are simply just incredible. The visuals in this video or just this concert is insane! Cannot wait to listen to more!
Ah, that leads to the question if a concert streamed real-time with camera's without an audience is less live then a live concert with audience registrated with camera's.
Epica are MASTERS of live performance, as I’m sure you’ve gathered by now. And you’re right-at some point with these 13-minute pieces with multiple sections, it feels too simple to just call it a song. It’s a whole musical composition. Definitely Kingdom of Heaven part 1 next I think! It was performed in the same show and the two songs together made up one of five “movements” of the concert. Honestly, if you ever have the time and want a serious crash course, watching the entire Omega Alive show start to finish is an *experience.* A lot of bands streamed concerts during the pandemic, but Epica took it to a whole other level. The two songs you’ve seen from the show so far only scratch the surface! Aside from KoH1, two other recs I’ll give you: Victims of Contingency (Omega Alive) - this is a segment of the show you haven’t seen yet, and there’s an awesome surprise at the end! Beyond the Matrix (Live at AFAS Live) - this is their long running concert finale song, so of course you’ve got to see it live with an audience. It will just fill you with joy!
Somewhere on the net the keys player (Coen) talks about that one-take flaming-upright interlude... standing up was NOT just for show... hot flames are HOT, lol. "Together we are one" imo, is made more powerful by the growled vocals after Simones beautiful cleans... ties together our gritty and pretty sides. There are no weak cogs in this machine. I hope to see them one day in a Euro-venue, where they can bring their large stage show. (see Code of Life at AFAS). One can dream.... and Epica makes dreams come to life.
Coen’s interlude sounds like such an intense moment-flames and all! Epica’s ability to balance power and beauty in their music is one of a kind. Seeing them perform in a full European venue setup would be amazing-I hope you get the chance to experience it someday!
Great reaction. Thank you. I've always enjoyed EPICA, but this song really made them my favorite band. I regret not watching the Omega alive stream as it happened, but at least I have the DVD to watch it, and listen to it, again and again. Obviously I did not miss out on the Symphonic Synergy stream.
First time I heard this song was on the album. I have seen them play this (and also part 1) live on several occasions. Even though this was a prerecorded live stream during the pandemic, this is an accurate representation of how it sounds live.
The concert was pre-produced and then released first as a live stream, then later as a DVD. The song is not one of my favorites, but the concert/DVD is awesome. Another song from it: EPICA - Unchain Utopia - (ΩMEGA ALIVE) (OFFICIAL VIDEO) Epica was founded in the Netherlands in 2002 by growler/guitarist Mark Jansen after a false start. Before that, he had founded After Forver, where current Nightwish singer Floor Jansen was the singer. Mark made his girlfriend Simone Simons the singer in Epica. The two are no longer a couple in private, but are still the main songwriters. They had to earn their success outside of the Netherlands through persistence and are now one of the most successful symphonic metal bands.
Enjoyed your reaction to what I consider their Magnus Opus. Omega Alive was their pandemic live stream show. The video and audio was recorded live over several days and the streamed all at once in a virtual concert. The keyboard you saw Coen playing is a Revo-1 curveboard made by Canadian company Nu-Motion. Created by a keyboardist who hated being stuck behind the keyboard and created the REVO so he could move around on stage like the guitarist. Completely self-contained with 12 hour battery, all the controls of a full keyboard, and a direct wireless connection to the bands MIDI system. I have seen Coen crowd surfing while playing. The spinning regular keyboard is not new. I thing Nine Inch Nails were the first to do it. Coen ups the game in more recent shows where the keyboard is on a track and can slide around on stage as well as spin.
Am I looking at an Attack on Titan T-shirt? You need to listen to Epica's covers of AOT openings. Look for "Crimson Bow and Arrow" check the studio version because there is no official live version of the symphonic synergy version.
Good eye! I haven’t heard Epica’s covers of Attack on Titan openings yet, but "Crimson Bow and Arrow" sounds like an incredible recommendation. I’ll definitely check out the studio version-thanks for the tip!
Studio first then this amazing performance. Epica - chasing the dragon (Retrospect live) is another great performance 10 years earlier. First time i saw Epica with acrobatics on stage. Retrospect is a 3h show with full orchestra. Amazing that they had the energy for that long.
Long tracks like that really let the band explore and experiment, which makes them so captivating. Simone’s talent always elevates everything around her! Thanks Mark!
I noticed you're wearing the Scout Regiment's Wings of Freedom shirt. Nice! Do you know Epica has an EP covers of Attack On Titan songs? Here's Crimson Bow & Arrow live at The Symphonic Synergy ua-cam.com/video/s3IhrTD4L-w/v-deo.html
Haha, glad you noticed! I haven't checked out Epica's Attack on Titan covers yet, but that sounds awesome. I'll definitely give Crimson Bow & Arrow a listen-thanks for the heads-up!
“This is not just a song, it’s an experience.” Exactly 🎸🎻
this is true progressive symphonic metal 🔥 with very cool production. visually and musically complete magnificence
Love the production and visuals they portrayed! Cannot wait to hear more!

Yet another great Dutch band. So much great singers from The Netherlands🤘

Wow! Thank you so much for the information!
Great reaction there..... You are getting into the Epica vibe now my friend.
Thank you so much!
Now you should also do Kingdom of Heaven part 1 of the same show. It's even better in my opinion...😅
You're kidding?! Better??

@@inalectexperiencesor better check the entire AOT x Epica EP. Many epic AOT covers there!

Please react to "Unleashed", "Code of life", "Rivers", "Storm the Sorrow" and "Tides of Time" , I am sure you will love those songs as well :)
if you like this one Part one is a must, and lets not forget the best of all epica retrospect !
🤘🤘
skeleton key from same show😉😍
If it's 13 min it = prog. Think of it as a long jam section. Simone the best, of course.

@@inalectexperiences and the Wings of Freedom - this song is power metal EPICA!!!! You'll surely jam with it!
Possibly the best performance of the best song although tbh the phrase’ best song’ is a bit meaningless with Epica
Agreed!
Do not listen to "nw" small letters, any more, better listen to great EPICA!!!
