What I love about SpongeBob is the amount of liminal spaces, Rock Bottom in general is such an atmospheric area even with us only seeing the Bathroom, Bus Stop, and 90 degree wall. Games delve into this area further, but even at this minimal amount, there is a certain feel to these older episodes that help with world building.
Patrick wouldn't leave SpongeBob behind on purpose - but he probably would do it without thinking things through. Don't forget how he also walloped SpongeBob with his rock when dreaming about spiders in the other episode. I just think the driver had enough after getting smacked by the balloon, kicked them off, and radio'd the other drivers on how much trouble SpongeBob would be as a passenger.

So, in order to do that, he hired the bus driver to look out for him and strand him in rock bottom when he found him. And so he did, but he also decided to torture SpongeBob as revenge for hitting him with the balloon. After that, Nat was paid, and Plankton forgot about him, and Karen remembered him for later, that's why she hired him to pretend to like chum.
My theory is that this episode is actually based on real life. Imagine falling asleep on a bus, missing your stop, and waking up somewhere very unfamiliar. Noone speaks your language, you can't get back without another bus, and you're having trouble figuring out when the next bus will even come. That's Rock Bottom.
This is a good video, but you really didn't need to describe the whole first half of home sweet pineapple in excruciating detail. It would have flowed a lot better to just say "when nematodes ate spongebob's house, Patrick offered to let him live with him"
At 5:00. I used to work in retail, we are trained to spot fake things like money and IDs. The workers here are just doing their jobs and coming in as a "prank" or "joke" to try and sell a fake game is theft. It is likely these guys have had this issue with actual customers before and this was just another asshat coming in to be a bother. I am glad they were banned from all stores. I wouldn't find this funny either.

Retail is so ass. I'm glad I don't work in that environment anymore, but people did stuff like this when I worked at Walmart, and it actually gave me more energy to work the rest of the day and not be drained when I came home. I appreciate people like this because they make the work environment more enjoyable and less stressful than how regular customers are. Besides, it's not really a shocker that they immediately found "Cousin Kisser" to be fake, and even if they didn't, the disc is most-likely not present or wouldn't run if you inserted the disc.

This is easily my favorite spongebob episode because something similar happened to me in real life ☠️ My friends and I went to a Waterpark in the middle of nowhere. After we were done it was around sunset, so it was dark, we waited at the bus stop, dehydrated and taking turns sitting on the bench, we kept waiting for an hour and a half, with some busses coming by but not stopping. We ended up calling a big taxi, which got lost like 2 times on the way there, but they finally arrived. We ended up splitting the bill and getting sweet melon to celebrate!
Oh my god. That makes perfect sense that the bus driver was tormenting spongebob. 1. Leaving Spongebob but getting Patrick. 2. Toying and playing with him as he speeds up. 3. Patrick is a good Friend, Maybe not always perfect and sometimes slow in Mind but when Spongebob really needs him then Patrick is trying everything that he knows from his Basic Mind to at least be there for him. If i need to Pick up 2 Characters from the Show that i would call Spongebobs best Friends then those two would be Patrick and Sandy. Squidward would also have a lot of Potential to be a good Friend if he would try because we see how much he can Support when even Spongebob is done with everything. Overall i would say Squidward is Maybe not Best Friends with him but is at least a good Support on Work if Spongebob really needs help and advice

When you mentioned that the bus driver "kidnapped" Sponge Bob, my brain instead thought that you meant that the Rock Bottom was a metaphor for an actual kidnapping, with him being in a dark room while he had seem his hopes of escaping going away with time, and that the guy of the balloon would be someone that wanted to get him away but due stockholm syndrome he initially would thought that the person was someone that would get him in even more harm, thus making so him freeing him in the end perceiving that the stockholm syndrome that he had developed was a wrong thought and finally escaping the darkness. Well the reason hes not listed as a bus driver is probably because the side fish chars all recycle their looks but they didnt have names until later seasons/become recurring characters, theyre originally generic fish designs that they decided to keep and turn into actual chars later

She later contacted Nat, and payed him to follow through with the plan. He became a bus driver temporarily just to execute the plan. Hence why he wasn’t on the bus driver wiki or wtv. When you mentioned that the bus driver "kidnapped" Sponge Bob, my brain instead thought that you meant that the Rock Bottom was a metaphor for an actual kidnapping, with him being in a dark room while he had seem his hopes of escaping going away with time, and that the guy of the balloon would be someone that wanted to get him away but due stockholm syndrome he initially would thought that the person was someone that would get him in even more harm, thus making so him freeing him in the end perceiving that the stockholm syndrome that he had developed was a wrong thought and finally escaping the darkness.

Well the reason hes not listed as a bus driver is probably because the side fish chars all recycle their looks but they didnt have names until later seasons/become recurring characters, theyre originally generic fish designs that they decided to keep and turn into actual chars later

Wild take but what if karen paid the same guy to get spongebob stuck in rock bottom so plankton could try to get the formula once spongebob is away. There would be no spongebob to ruin plankton's plans for a while so I think this could make sense

While the other person could have been less rude, they were correct. If you convince someone to enter your vehicle by promising to take then somewhere when you are actually taking them somewhere else, that still meets the legal definition of kidnapping.
No, to be kidnapped, the person who kidnaps has to detain the person who is kidnapped once they arrive at the location they were taken to unwillingly. It’s not like it lessens the crime, obviously 😂 the correct term is stranded.
I don't know which is worse, Rock Bottom or RandomLand, in rock bottom its like some weird nightmare engulfed in darkness and everything is foreign. RandomLand is basically rock bottom but a lot worse, where the laws of reality are unstable but either place could make you question your life either out of fear and darkness or insanity and weirdness, maybe they're connected?

Well he didnt stop and 15 minutes later we broke down in the middle of nowehre in the desert, and he had to call the school, and our parents. and my mom had to come pick us up. like wtf....surprised we werent diddled right then n there tbh, no idea where he was going
Plankton was trying to come up with a different way to bring down the crusty crab. So Karen came up with this elaborate scheme to get rid of spongebob for at least a while. She later contacted Nat, and payed him to follow through with the plan. He became a bus driver temporarily just to execute the plan. Hence why he wasn’t on the bus driver wiki or wtv.

Assaulting a bus driver is a crime, and any passenger that does so will not be allowed to ride. In reality the driver would have called the police but since it was "accidently" that why he just made him get off and not able to ride for the rest of the day.
