Very eye-opening video! Some chapters would be great for quick comparisons. A lot of my preconceptions were blown wide open!

Thanks for the shootout! I would have preferred them all recording simultaneously to minimize performance differences, but I recognize the difficulty/problems with that as well.
    This was very helpful!

Thats a good thing to think about and in my experience it would be too hard to get seven mics to work side by side anyway. So my approach is to use each one at a time and just see which inspires me the most with its sound. Got any favorites?

Great comparison. I like the V67
And the Black hole. They all sounded interesting to my old ears. Thanks for all the work creating this. Be well.

Funny enough I actually referred to my own video a couple of weeks later to decide which mic I wanted to choose for the acoustic guitar! Lol
      We chose the V 11 and V 47

Thanks for the review. Very helpful! Helped me make up my mind to go for the 47 over the 67

I really love the way that bass cab sounds, what are the specs?

Thanks! That should be my Dietz 1 x 15" cabinet ported at the bottom. I think Heart Of Texas Music used to make them also. I got the recommendation from Steve Albani when I worked with him years ago. It’s what they also have at Electrical Audio Studio.

I've had the V11 pretty much as soon as they were released and love it. I find this mic has a similar tone to some ribbon mics that I've used. I'm looking for another mic to add to my collection with a similar tone to the V11 but with a little more open and airy sound without sounding harsh or emphasize sibilance. I'm leaning towards the V67 or Amethyst. What would you recommend?

Shoot youtube deleted my reply lol so I’ll start over. The V 67 is definitely brighter and a little more excited sounding on the top. I would recommend that if you want shine on your acoustic guitars. However I really like the amethyst for how it sounds rich and warm and great on my voice for example. Here’s a video where I used the amethyst for my voice: ua-cam.com/video/6YT_m3vFSCU/v-deo.html

@@RecordingStudioRockstars Thanks for the suggestion! Are there any other mics you would recommend that might be a better option other than JZ around £700 or less?

@@richardpenrose1968 sure you might also want to check out Roswell Pro Audio and Vanguard Audio Labs

@@RecordingStudioRockstars Thanks. I already own the Vanguard V13 which is a wonderful sounding mic but I'm just looking for another good non tube mic. The JZ Amethyst, Vanguard V4 and Roswell mics are top of my list and possibly the BeesNeez BU87 and Warm WA87r2.

V12 is best on drums and acoustic guitar.
